Throughout the cooking, we also interacted with the chefs, asking them about the dishes, and also getting some samples of the dishes before they were served. We arrived for Sunday dinner reservation right on time. It was small space with about 20 spots. BYOB place, no cork fee. Half of the seat were around the kitchen. There was a scoring sheet for each guest with names of both chefs, the ingredients of the day and the rules. The chefs got 45 minutes for preparing their appetizers, 35 minutes for entree and 20 minutes for desserts. It was impressive to see both chefs were precise with their timing. The dishes prepared by both chefs were so masterful, had intricacy of combining the ingredients and coming up with some sumptuous flavors. Salmon and steaks were cooked perfectly. It was extremely difficult to score the chefs on barest of margins and pick a winner. But per the rules I did pick Chef Ryan Beegel over Chef Alexis Sicklick. The host was also super nice and funny. She did a super job of explaining all aspects of the dinner, cleaning out plates after each round and serving all the drinks. Truly it was one of a kind TV Show like experience for us.

1 Star -- Extremely Disappointing for a $500+ Per Night Hotel…read more I recently stayed at the W Hoboken, and unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing--especially considering the $500+ per night price point. The location is excellent, but the service, facilities, and overall level of hospitality simply did not match what I would expect from a W Hotel at this price. The service throughout my stay was very inconsistent. The restaurant was disappointing. The only server who stood out positively was Destiny, who was friendly, attentive, professional, and actually seemed to understand what good hospitality looks like. She was the exception. Unfortunately, most of the other restaurant staff appeared very young and inexperienced, and I did not get the impression that they had received adequate server or hospitality training. Basic requests, such as condiments, involved surprisingly long wait times. There was also very little warmth or engagement from the staff. Destiny was essentially the only person who consistently smiled and made an effort to provide genuine customer service. The front desk experience was also disappointing. Staff frequently did not maintain eye contact and at times appeared nervous, uncomfortable, or unsure when interacting with guests. Again, this is simply not the level of confidence, professionalism, and hospitality I expect from a hotel charging $500+ per night. For a hotel at this price point, I expect a substantially higher standard of service, attention to detail, professionalism, and hospitality. I have traveled extensively throughout the United States and around the world and have stayed at many luxury hotels. In my experience, the W Hoboken was the worst value I have encountered in the $500+ per night hotel category. The price creates an expectation of a certain level of luxury and service, and the actual experience fell far short of that expectation. The W Hoboken could learn a great deal from luxury brands such as Ritz-Carlton and Waldorf Astoria, particularly when it comes to hotel management, employee training, customer service, and restaurant operations. I hope management takes this feedback seriously. The property has a great location and could be a much better luxury experience, but at $500+ per night, the service needs to be dramatically improved to justify the price.

An event space review:…read more So, I've never been here for like a regular Saturday night and I've never actually hosted an event here but, I've been to this space for a few local Hoboken events and I've also been here for a private tour and the end result: It's aesthetically amazing. I've recommended at least one friend to get married here (and they are) and as far as event spaces go this one is damn fine with a max capacity of about 200 people. Mutli room all with beautiful wood floors, dark leather couches, dim lighting, brick walls. Wow. Definitely Prague in the 1940's. Definitely one of the hipper locations I've been in Hoboken. The cocktail list is extensive and is of the "mixologist" type. They are pricey $11-$13 or so but, that's how much fancy cocktails cost these days. Womp womp. I really can't talk about ambiance on a regular night since I've never been but for an event space, this place is truly dark, romantic and a super cool spot in Hoboken definitely a must stop and see when planning a special event, wedding, bday, fundraiser. (I have no clue on pricing/rental so good luck).

Overall, if I lived in the area and needed a flexible function space Hoboken Elk's Club would certainly be on my list. I am sure they rent the space out for various events. I have had friends who had functions at other Elk's Club locations and rental fees were very reasonable.

My first order was for some coral charm peonies that I fussed over like a pet. They closed most nights and went to bed and changed colors in the most beautiful way. My dude and I had long drawn-out conversations about the peonies; I think my dogs were a little jealous of the attention the flowers received. Since then I have ordered some more peonies, some anemones, and a small arraignment that was precious. I am always impressed with the quality of the flowers and love that the selection changes every week. Free local delivery on Wednesdays and Fridays is also really nice and there is usually pick-up available Saturday morning at the farmers market under the viaduct in Hoboken.
