Had a really good experience here! Our instructor was Theresa and she was really patient and kind…read morein guiding us through the painting. She also acknowledged that here are different painting styles so even hers would look different from the original we were copying from. The instruction was excellent! The space felt a bit cramped at times but that wasn't a pervasive problem. Also they give you a canvas that is traced already, which I don't prefer. I think you could probably ask for a clean one though. Biggest complaint is that we pulled up our confirmation email when we got there and saw that we should consider tipping our instructor. We had no cash and didn't know to get any. The website doesn't say anything about this expectation or let you add a tip when checking out. So we felt bad but I also feel like this a dumb practice and the tip can just be included in the price of the class. Other than that small hiccup, the night overall was really fun and I was glad we found something to do during a free night where we didn't have plans!

2/14/23: I was taken to this place as a surprise for Valentine's Day. I've always wanted to do…read morethis, so I was super excited. It was supposed to start at 6 pm, but the lady waited and waited for people who didn't even end up showing up. We had to wait almost 20 mins before we could get started, and I didn't think that was a good decision for those of us who showed up on time. They included champagne in the tiniest cup. Luckily, we don't drink, so it didn't matter so much. They also gave us a tiny box of V-Day candy. It was a sweet gesture. All in all, we really enjoyed ourselves. They should put something in place that if people are late, they will need to reschedule, get a credit for future use, or forfeit their money. We shouldn't have to wait over 20 mins to get started. I recommend them. Just be sure to bring your own drinks and snacks/food.

We visited for the intro to glass blowing class, and had a wonderful time! After a thorough…read moretraining session and safety lecture, we each were carefully guided through making three personally-blown glass objects that could be finished as Christmas decorations or garden globes. After being a fan of the TV show Blown Away, this event definitely scratched an itch. The staff is knowledgeable, patient, and very helpful. There is a half-hour break after you blow your pieces for them to fully cool and be finished, and plentiful places nearby for a quick lunch or browse until you pick them up. A fun way to spend an afternoon!

Wine & Design Raleigh has a new location in North Raleigh at the Celebration Station Shopping…read moreCenter. The new space is very colorful and welcoming. The shopping center has plenty of free parking too so that is always a good thing! This studio has chairs rather than stools that have been the seating at the other Wine and Design studios I have gone. The back support was nice and I like having the chairs. I went for an open studio and didn't take an official class so didn't see the new technology in use here but the tv screen makes me think that will show what the artist is doing on the canvas. Another difference here is that they sell sodas and waters if you'd like them and didn't bring your own. There was an area to put any food you brought too. If you were having a party, the counter would work for putting the gifts too. If you are looking for somewhere to explore your creative side, check out the variety of painting and craft classes offered at Wine & Design.

Fun place, even better people! I love going to and doing workshops with Shelly from Wine & Design…read moreApex!! She's creative and always tries new things to make the experience more fun and full of value. Her craft classes are creative (even though I'm biased to the candle making class! ) and she never stops thinking about ways to elevate the business. Plus, her staff is fantastic. Last nights class with Elaine was great because she's such a good teacher and makes sure that above everything else, people leave happy and satisfied. BYOB parties are always a good time and there's plenty of space for large groups and refreshments. The studio really becomes your home for the night and the vibe is one of a kind! Can't wait to teach and visit again soon!

As I forgot to get a photo when I arrived, the class was full so I couldn't get the layout too well. I will try to get a better shot next time. I'd been to the old location before the pandemic and got excited during the pandemic when to go kits were offered as we couldn't paint in person but could order a kit with canvases and paints and brushes. Then pick them up from the sidewalk. Virtual classes are offered as well so you could paint with friends and relatives all over the country if you wanted. Some classes are being taught outside under a gazebo too. I booked my class a few months out as I am still healing from a shoulder injury and thought I'd be good by July. But I managed to get another injury in the meantime. So I did my best and Bethany made the afternoon fun and was very helpful with how to hold the paintbrush to get the paint stroke desired. If you are looking for a fun activity, this is the place for you!
