okay, so i only signed up on yelp just to write this review.
I'm a writer and i've been in pain for the longest time, Crew, work, traveling, past injuries from martial arts. i have friends who are massage therapists but any massages i received before never really hit all the points i needed and deep tissue are usually rough, fast and invasive, leaving me with soreness the next day or worse case, for a week.
so i thought i'd try this place out after seeing a livingsocial special. came and asked for deep swedish and something totally different from anything i've experienced before. my therapist asked about my injuries, any conditions i may have, basically was thorough with me, she was the only one that spoke fluent english and really cared about what i wanted and what my goals were.
when i first walked in, i liked the place, it was nice. well placed and friendly front desk, granted i couldn't understand some things they said, but it was fine. then i heard loud sighs and some guy actually softly screaming. i stared down the hall and said, "ummm...what?!"
the front desk just laughed and said that it was their deep tissue specialist killing someone.
i'm like, "ummm...what?"
then they said that she was going to be my therapist.
i'm like, "come again...?"
they said it'll be okay, she has a client that needed the work and comes there regularly for her and that she's really really great. okay, 10 minutes of reassuring me, i agreed.
i was a little nervous.
however, it turned out fine. like the front desk was actually being honest. i didn't get to see her face because i was down. she was soft spoken and didn't use any oil or lotion. during the whole session, she explained to me what she was doing and kept me informed about oncoming pain and why it was necessary. i'm a very picky person and if a touch isn't to my liking, i'll just get up and walk out. however, her approach was intuitive, slow, deep and making sure to work with my muscles and places where it really burned the most. she found more knots in weird places that gave me chronic pain in the past. boy, it was tough, but she eased me in.
it was an hour long, the room was warm and she was meticulous. the whole session she asked me various things about what i did for a living, what i did for exercise or hobbies, somehow she said it all relates to my body and where the pain was. she like drew a mental picture for me. granted we only got to do the upper body in that hour and partial lower back, but it was enough. it's been a week and a half and i'm still feeling freaking great.
she got to all the places i wanted and even gave me a few extra minutes so she could finish what she was doing no charge. i really appreciated that. when the massage was done, got dressed and finally got to meet my therapist and see her face. she had a warm smile and rough exterior, i mean that shouldn't matter after that kind of massage. she brought me to the edge of my limit, but i didn't actually fall off and when i stood up, i felt like jello. on air. new person. highly recommend this person, i'm really serious. she feels like the type of therapist where you'll have to have a few sessions before everything gets better. however, i felt the immediate relief right away. amazing. this is fix type massage, not relaxing while during, so be forewarned.
when you come here just ask for Chenda, she's rough around the edges, but her touch is completely out of this world. read more
