We used Tri-State Travel for our wedding transportation! They provided two trolleys to accommodate all of our guests! They showed up early & prepared to transport all of our guests to & from our wedding venue! The drivers were kind and patient (especially with all our wedding guests on the way home that had a drink or two.. Tri-State was so helpful in coordinating our transportation needs for our wedding! They helped us organize a trolley to move our guests between the hotel, an event downtown, and the wedding venue. They provided safe transportation for everyone on our winding backroads, limited our parking burden, worked with me to figure out a schedule that worked for the day, were flexible when I needed to add a stop, and worked with me to make sure our at-home venue could accommodate the trolley. And as a bonus, the trolley was so cute and added some real Galena magic to the day. They were punctual, friendly, and so helpful! read more

I would like to respond to the owner's ridiculous comments: "I would like to respond to this review which is a complete fabrication of what really happened that evening! My driver was not intoxicated as she mentioned in her review. Our drivers are suject to random drug and alcohol testing and that particular driver was randomly selected twice that year and passed with flying colors!" We have a picture of the driver ponied up at the bar at our house party, so get real buddy! I'll post it! "My driver mentioned that the wedding party was feeling "Little Pain" when they came out of the reception and were very demanding and unpleasant to work with! We gave our driver the instructions that were given to use before the wedding day, but for some reason they wanted to alter the plans that we couldn't physically or logistically do within their time frame." You're right - the wedding party was feeling little pain - we were leaving a WEDDING! Yes - I was so demanding when I asked the driver to make the trips I asked on the territories for the three hours you were hired. Can you please state what exactly I asked for that was not in my contract? The travel was in a max 2 mile radius so any travel I asked for during the contracted time would be impossible logistically or time frame? We hired you because my guests would likely be "feeling no pain". "The bride waited almost a month after this incident to call me and bring it to my attention, as this was the first time I had heard of her service being a problem! I offered to redeem 100% of her charter, as this was the only way she was going to be satisfied. After many attempts following our initial conversation, she nor her husband could be reached to make the proper arrangements." I was on my honeymoon for a month in Scandinavia and my complaint was never about receiving a refund - beacuse i will never get the time i wasted on my wedding day back. I'm a CPA and I work 60+ hours a week and spending time haggling over 500 dollars wasn't a priority for me. If everything was truly great as you say with my reservation - why would you offer me a refund? "Tri-State Travel is a 73 year old transportation and tour company that has been highly praised over the years from our peers and clients within the industry and has received numerous industry awards throughout the years! With that being said, I would be happy to give numerous references of our company to anyone that is interested in utilizing our services but have concerns due to this very unpleasant review that isn't true! Tri State had a fun trolley tour. We saw the expected points of interest - US Grant's house etc.. in east Galena and then we up Prospect hill in West Galena, and finally downtown. Our guide explained the mining that has been done here as well as how the town has gotten to where it is today. The cars we were in was open air, but could be air conditioned and appear to be in good repair. The price was $18 per adult, but I thought it was worth it. read more

There is terrible cell service in Galena. So when our call was dropped twice while trying to make a reservation with Grace for the trolley tour, we thought she would understand. However, she proceeded to scold my fiancé and tell him that he was not allowed to make a phone reservation because "your phone keeps cutting out." We finally had service, but she didn't even give him a chance to apologize or explain. For a company that solely survives on tourism, they need to take a customer service class. Needless to say, we did not book a tour with this company, and we do not recommend them. So disappointing. read more

My son-in-law contracted with Tri-State Travel to have a trolley provide transportation to and from their wedding site at Chestnut Mountain. I was really impressed by the service that they provided. The trolley arrived early. I was concerned about the wedding programs because it was such a windy day. I ask the driver about setting the programs on the trolley so that our guests could take them. He was very friendly and willing to let us do this. When I rode the trolley to the wedding site, he was helpful getting guests (especiallly several that were elderly) on and off the trolley and handed out the programs. He was very patient after the ceremony, waiting through pictures to return us to the reception site. Again, the driver was very friendly and helpful with anything that I ask of him. I would highly recommend this to anyone that needs to provide this type of transportation for some occasion. read more

i just go back from tri state north east tour, there is no leg room on the bus very uncomfortable, just about painful. we traveled 3600 miles too many miles to be packed in like sardines. when you pay thousand of dollars for a tour your would think you would get a good comfortable seat and leg room,not with tri state travel,you suffer. If you plan on going on any long bus trip make sure you can see the inside of the bus first or find out how much leg room you will have. The only reason I am giving them 2 stars instead of one is because the staff and driver were great and we had good accommodation where we stayed over night and where we ate. I will think twice about going on another bus tour. read more
