    Bait and switch pricing

    TL;DR: Tri-County used bait-and-switch tactics, falsely advertised a promotion, and completely disavowed a written quote they sent me before I drove 2 hours to their dealership. Be careful--they're not honest or transparent. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the sales tactics at Tri-County are so misleading that I feel obligated to warn others. I contacted the dealership on the final day of their sales event to confirm that the car I was interested in qualified for both the double down payment match and the 0% financing offer. I also asked for an out-the-door quote in writing, which the salesperson confirmed and emailed to me (see attached). Wanting to avoid a wasted trip, I drove over two hours to the dealership only after receiving that confirmation. When I arrived, both the salesperson and sales manager claimed they had no idea who I spoke with. That should've been my cue to walk out, but I decided to test drive the car anyway. As expected, when it came time to talk numbers, the sales manager said there was no way they could honor the quote I was given--and to make matters worse, he claimed the sales event only applied to either the down payment match or the 0% financing, not both. The promotion they advertised and emailed was clearly worded in a way that suggested otherwise--anyone with basic reading comprehension could see that. In short, this dealership wasted my time with misleading promotions, a bait-and-switch quote, and a total lack of accountability. Buyer beware.

    I had a very good experience at the dealership. my salesperson was Mike Marine. He was helpful and not pushy like most. When you get to the finance dept to sign the documents, double check the "out the door final price". Mine was incorrect. ‍ Overall, a good buying experience and great car!

They lied before I even arrived--promising the battery was charged and tires were good on a used RAV4 Prime I drove 90 minutes to see. Neither was true. During the sale, the used car manager pushed a $3,000 warranty using outright false claims (7 years of maintenance, lower sales tax), lowballed my trade-in by rating it "fair" despite its condition, and when I pushed back on all of it, told me he "hopes to never see my face again." The whole process took 5.5 hours, and the cruise control listed on their website was broken--discovered on my drive home. Their response: "Did you buy the warranty?" The post-sale experience was worse. I requested a registration transfer at purchase. After weeks of being brushed off, they processed it as a brand-new registration instead. When my temporary tag was about to expire because of their delays, their rep J. Perez advised me to just drive on an expired registration. My salesman followed that up in writing offering to cover any ticket--which tells you everything about how seriously they take their own mistakes. When I demanded the plates be overnighted (confirmed verbally and in writing via email), they shipped two-day FedEx to arrive on a weekend during a holiday. Five days, not one. My salesman Rodolfo dodged calls and messages throughout, has since left the dealership, and his manager--who tried to push misleading insurance on me at signing--never followed up as promised. I've been calling their Customer Relations Manager for two weeks. Voicemail every time. The copy-paste reply you'll likely see below this review is exactly that. They asked me for a 5-star review twice before I had the keys. Now you know why.

By the way, we purchased an almost identical CPO Nissan a few days ago from a no-BS Nissan dealer in NY State. About the same price. We are very happy with the transaction. When the manager insisted that I trade him the $18,000 vehicle And give him a check for $2000 for a Honda Accord they were selling for $4000 I clearly thought that was unacceptable. He then decided after we were dissatisfied to usher us out of the facility. Anyone who follows my reviews knows I am always super fair and forgiving. His actions not only were unforgivable, but one of the salesman got in my son's face and started to put his finger on my son's face as we were leaving. I have now made it my mission to ensure that no other others have the same experience that I have, especially given the number of dealerships that one can find a vehicle at. After the first vehicle purchase, I attempted to talk to the manager, and then the general manager, both of whom assured me if I brought the vehicle back, they would take care of me on a trade in. This replacement was completed by your service department on 12/20/2025. I was so thrilled and grateful, that I actually wrote a hand-written note sent via snail mail thanking the team that worked with me through the process. Now, I feel like an idiot for thinking they cared about anything other than money. Since then, the check engine light came on again. The code that came up was P0340: Cylinder 4 misfire Detected. When I brought it to my mechanic, he found the wiring to be less than optimal. Nearly negligible, considering your service department had this vehicle, looked this vehicle over, and then even did work on this vehicle. The wires that were next to nothing, hanging by a thread, should have been seen. The wire caps that were found were meant for electrical wires in a home, not in a vehicle. This should have been fixed prior to selling, regardless of the "condition" it was being sold as. The engine of this car could have exploded on my drive home. My mechanic fixed the wiring that was neglected by your service department with the proper wires and parts. The check engine light was cleared. It has now re-appeared, with the same code as the first time, P0430: Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold (Bank 2). Less than 2 months after being replaced. While working on the car, my mechanic noted that the plate for the catalytic converter did not fit properly, giving him the inkling that it was an after-market catalytic converter that does not contain the proper amount of platinum to operate properly. I understand that this car was purchased "as-is," but there is a fine line between making things work to sell them and ignoring very detrimental issues.

And highly recommend this dealership to anyone interested in purchasing a car. We have already told our family and friends about this place! Omar A. Firozvi made us feel welcomed from the moment we met him. All the way to the very end. That's the kind of customer service we appreciate and love to get! Omar took so much care of us, even if there was a possibility we weren't going to buy the car. Yet he stuck with us and showed a lot of respect and patience. While also being a go-getter in helping us get to the finish line. Our credit is currently in the rebuilding stages, yet we never felt judged by Omar. He continued to take great care of us. I've never heard of a warranty that was not optional. It was an incredible waste of my time. In the future, I would recommend, including ALL fees in your advertise priced that aren't optional... so basically the "actual"price. These are the shady practices that make people hate going to car dealerships. Steer clear! Go to a reputable dealership. They exist.

    I normally don't leave reviews, but this shop absolutely deserves one…read more We've been bringing our car here ever since we bought it, and over the years they've earned our complete trust. Even after moving away, we would often make the trip back just to have them inspect our car because we knew they would give us honest advice. A while back, a chain oil change shop told us we needed new brake pads. We came here for a second opinion, and they explained that the rust we were seeing was normal and would wear off with regular local driving. They were right. A year later, another shop again tried to sell us brake pads during an oil change. We immediately brought the car here, and after a thorough inspection, they told us the brakes still had about 2,000 miles left. That level of honesty is rare. Instead of recommending unnecessary repairs, they only suggest work that actually needs to be done. Their prices are fair, their workmanship is excellent, and most importantly, they genuinely care about their customers. If you're looking for a trustworthy mechanic, you can bring your car here with confidence. In an industry where it's hard to know who to trust, this shop has consistently proven that honesty still exists:)
