Trents is deserving up an update after a couple more meals here for both breakfast and lunch. It's definitely worth inquiring with Aurora about her amazing veggie breakfast. Instead of meats, she serves up a massive slab of delightfully crumbly cheese and some roasted red peppers. The end result is just as filling as a traditional Full English, but without all the heaviness of the meat! Definitely worth going off-menu for this kick-start to your morning if you're trying to stay away from its more calorific cousin. Also, the goulash at lunchtime is massive and savoury, though I'd recommend grabbing a bottle of Tabasco to spice it up a bit. They have to keep the heat to a minimum for some of their more typical English customers that can't handle spice. Served with plenty of crusty bread and enhanced with some extra veg not usually found in traditional goulash, this hearty Hungarian-inspired stew is enough to keep you powering through the afternoon! Secret tip: Arthur and Aurora are looking to convert the downstairs room into a cosy, casual space for evening hours. They'll still have the café on the ground floor serving breakfast and lunch, but will expand their business hours as well for the after-work crowd. The Owner practically spat at us when we mentioned we only wanted a coffee and a tea while sitting. So we decided to take it away instead. Even then, he decided to be unhappy about us ordering our iced drinks. The place is cute and the food looked good. We had already eaten prior and wanted a few drinks to cool down. 4,25 stars, Tucked away in a corner of Leather Lane, Trents is an incredible jump start to anyone's morning regardless of whether you fall in the carnivore or herbivore category. i came here to try their version of the Full English. The premium sausage is sourced directly next door from the local butcher, and it is absolutely worth your time. The bacon is lovely, the eggs are cooked perfectly with just the slightest bit of a crisp to the edges, and the beans, mushrooms, and tomatoes perfectly complement the meaty aspects of the breakfast. Add in your potato and toast, and you have a hearty start to your morning. Is the above far too meaty for your tastes? No worries. Trents also serves a vegetarian breakfast loaded with feta cheese and peppers. From the look on Kevin L's face, I'm a bit upset with myself for not even giving it a try (although two breakfasts this morning would have been serious overkill). The owners of this restaurant, Arthur and Aurora, are two of the loveliest people I have met so far in London. They are gracious and genuinely seem to derive pleasure from providing their customers with a heavenly breakfast. They clearly take the time to provide only the freshest of ingredients (we could pick basil from the plant itself for extra flavor... how amazing is that?). They also discussed ideas they have with their customers and have been known to incorporate some customer ideas into their space. If that isn't customer service, the term needs to be redefined. Relaxing atmosphere, beautiful pastries, and a lot of halloumi. Now, halloumi happens to be one of my favorite cheeses, so I was excited to see that I can get my weekly fix of a halloumi sandwich. I'm a little less excited that they have very limited choice for sandwiches: Two cheese and one other thing, all three on grilled vegetables. I'm not a big fan of grilled peppers, I really only like my peppers raw. I'd rather see them offer something like a Halloumi and Ham sandwich. Still, I'll come back for my halloumi fix, and maybe try one of their wraps and their beautiful looking pastries. Very friendly service here too, and very fast. read more

I am an afficianado of greasy spoon cafes and I love my full english breakfasts. I am a latte riser, more of a vampire to be honest, therefore almost all cafes are closed at the time when I surface in search of "morning" sustenance. I must admit that when I first saw the only cafe open in Leather Lane, my heart sank. It just looked too trendy - you know, the sort of place where you have to negotiate long-term finance and answer fifteen questions to get a black coffee. But!! imagine my delight when I found that they did a full english brekkie!! Apart from the beans being served rather pretentiously in a dishette, it was superb. The three toast arrived uncut and without butter, which is a big ask in these days of Eastern European service personnel. The portion size was decent and everything was well over-cooked in the best greasy spoon tradition. I am very glad to be able to come along after 5pm and get some decent food inside me to start the day. Highly recommended. read more

I am a local and have met with friends in the past to have a cup of coffee here in the past. The coffee does the job and service generally friendly. Thought to bring a couple of friends here again today and asked where I could plug in my laptop as we planned on having lunch while going over some business stuff- fairly typical in this area as well as day and age! The waitress was perplexed by my request and summoned the manager who said he wouldn't allow me to plug in my computer to the plugs right near the table. I asked why and he just repeated that they didn't allow it and told me I can go to Costa. What a shame! As a local I like to support independent businesses and I dare say with only 2 other people in the place when I was there they missed out on a tables worth of eating and drinking. Shame on you Trents, time to wise up to the 21st century! P.S I went down the street to The Department of Coffee and Social Affairs who were totally happy with my computer. Super friendly, too. So. I'll be honest. I love cheap cuisine. But finding cheap cuisine in a really nice joint is hard. This place is casually stylish - while being extremely welcoming/non-pretentious at the same time. I'm not usually one to write reviews, but the two hosts were so unbelievable welcoming and hospitable, though not in a smothering way - that I just felt I had to write a review. More people need to go here and check it out. My mates had the full english treatment which they loved, while for me - a vegetarian, I enjoyed the most amazing home-made mac/cheese with salad. Takes me back to my mum's home-made cookin' at home, which I haven't had much of atall since coming to London. Great for eating in, or a quick grab and go. read more

Have been working at the nearby craft beer co. for nearly a year and have seen businesses come and go on leather lane offering various foods but none have the warmth and welcoming that trents have. The food here is great, particularly their breakfasts and the beef lasagne which i'm particularly fond of! Another great plus is that service is fast and efficient and everything is always immaculately presented which is perfect if your on say a half hour lunch break or need to get back to the office. As the previous reviewer stated your always greeted with a warm welcome here rain or shine from the lovely couple who run this place which is great to see after i've been doing a long shift at work!
