This was my second year attending the Farm Chicks show and let me say, this year was better than…read morelast year! If you love to see creativity at it's best, please come to the Farm Chicks show. It just makes for a fun girls weekend. Last year was my first trip to Spokane and it's a much more charming town that I thought. Lots of funky thrift shops here and in Coeur d'Alene (which is barely 30 minutes away). You can take one day for junkin' and one day for the Farm Chicks. It's $6 for both days and bring your camera and a notebook because you'll want to write down all the cute ideas you find. My find of the day at the show was a $10 vintage watch from http://www.athingforroses.blogspot.com/. Be prepared to wait outside for a few to get in - my friend took a picture of the line to get in, which I will try and snag and post. But it's one of those lines where you talk to everyone in it - which makes it fun. Also, I would recommend bringing cash if you are going to buy - not too many places took cards. If you love vintage finds, make the pilgrimage - and don't forget to wear your apron!

We've been coming to both stores for years and have found some amazing deals. Follow on Facebook for even better deals! There is a couple of things that are consistent; the manager/owner is rude and unhelpful and the staff seem worn out and frustrated (probably due to the individual mentioned previously), but most of them seem helpful. I can't imagine working for that manager. He seems put out if we ask him a question. I'd give the store a higher rating, but that guy could use some customer.service training.

Many, many people told us to check out Trovato Interiors on Sprague near Spokane Valley City Hall. Very friendly Susan showed me an amazing armoire she says is over 200 years old. Beautiful piece. Just have to figure out how to get it home and up the stairs. LOL Also picked up some funky animal-print pillows and, I don't know what they are called, throw blankets perhaps?, that are furry and are for our new couch. Trusted and successful citizens of the community are correct. Trovato is THE place to go for all your furniture and home decorating needs. It is a shame some shady people who've never actually stepped foot in the store have taken to writing fake 1-star reviews on some other site for some reason. On the day of the class we experienced a power outage that lasted about 4-5 hrs and my kids' school was canceled as well. I called the market a little over an hour before the workshop started to see if I could switch to another date or possibly receive a refund due to the circumstances. I was told that they don't allow cancellations or changes unless you give three days' notice, because they had already paid the instructors and didn't have anyone to fill my spot. I asked if that policy would still apply in extreme situations... like a blizzard or severe weather advisory, which we were actually under at the time and was told yes, the policy would still stand. It was frustrating to hear that there was no flexibility at all, esp given the circumstances. Paying $65 (w tax $70) and not being offered the option to reschedule or receive any accommodation felt really unfortunate. Customer service and a little compassion could go a long way here.
