We always have amazing service and the food is always great each time we visit. The restaurant is clean along with the restrooms.

Rats in the kitchen. Food seems precooked them heated when ordered. Found rat poo in the food. We didn't touch it, just left.

I honestly have zero idea how this establishment is so popular. I've been to three different locations a total of 6 times and I'm tried different items every single time. I kept going back because I figured there must be something to this place since there are so many locations - still haven't figured it out. The atmosphere isn't awful, but the food is not even mediocre. I didn't have necessarily bad service the times I went, but it still felt sub par for no reason in particular. I can get over a bad atmosphere, or sub par service if the food redeems it a little bit, but I'll be stuck being curious about this place for the rest of my time here in bossier as I'm not giving it a seventh chance. read more

On our way back home from vacation we decided to find some Mexican food for dinner. We found Trejos on "NearMe" app, and decided to give it a try. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately. Lucky for us, our server was Valerie. The service and food was excellent. We ask Valerie if she would be up for helping us with a challenge to benefit ALS (pouring a bucket of ice water our our heads). She was eager to help and ask her manager who also agreed. I go here all the time because of work I have to eat lunch. I always order from the phone right before I leave work job site it take about 10 minutes to get there and pick it up the food is always ready or almost ready when I get there I usually order the carne asada/fajita it's pretty decent but love the service so I keep coming back read more

Though this food is delightfully greasy and cheap, the service is awkward. This is a good place to get your cheap and filling mexican kick. However, it WILL taste how you pay for it. This will be one of my shorter reviews. It doesn't have to be long because in my mind it is irrelevant as to how good the food is if the place is dirty. Trejo's has great food... no doubt. But it is one of the dirtiest, nastiest places in NW Louisiana to eat. Roaches, food on the floor... It was so dirty I walked into the kitchen acting lost to see for myself. I loved the food so much I did the same thing at another location. After a trip to the kitchen of both the Airline drive and Westgate location I'll never go back. It's truly amazing that the health department hasn't shut this place down. If your looking for an immune system test this may be for you. Or if you don't care then by all means go.... They are TERRIBLE with refills. I ordered fish from here and the fries were burnt with a terrible after taste. They did not give us chip refills and the salsa tasted old. The staff is also very creepy and not friendly at all!!!!!! It took 30 minutes to get our ticket and too long for them to bring back the card. The staff was just laughing and standing around even though there were only two table of people. read more

I'm not a real fan of this local Mexican chain...their location on Airline is always packed but from eating therd I was unimpressed and always saw it as a "see and be seen" locale & pretty much refused to eat there... They opened a location outside of Bossier City and I went with the Dad and stepMom...wasn't that impressed at the new locale either...have always thought the food was bland and the salsa unimpressive... Look, when you're in Shreveport/Bossier City much better places to eat from Cantina Laredo to El Mariachi to Superior to El Chico...some are chains and some are local but if you're about to fall out from hunger and you're by a Trejo's stop and eat, wouldn't want you to starve to death....otherwise you can find a better place for Mexican.... read more

I had never tried Mexican food away from home, but I found this place when I went back for a family vacation. It's an indoor restaurant, but doesn't look very big on the inside. There are hosts that will sit you and are very polite. The service was decent and there were a couple of waiters that kept coming to check on us. I ordered the beef fajitas. They give you rice, beans, lettuce, guacamole, and other stuff to put on the fajitas. You also get a choice of a flour or corn tortilla. I had them on corn just to try it. I must say the beef fajitas were really good, and the rest of the ingredients I used to make them with added some texture and good flavors to the entire meal. There are also chicken ones, but these were really tender and juicy. I would say come on over if you live in the Shreveport-Bossier area if you're into some good Mexican food. I really enjoyed trying the fajitas, but next time I'm back, I'll try something else. This dish was really tasty, and the entire staff was really polite whenever we were ordering. read more

From My Father: Attending my son's wedding in Shreveport, we visited this location, while I was eating some of the bean and rice from my chimichanga plate, I took a bite into something hard in the beans that broke one of my back teeth, I was told that since no foreign object could be found, they would not pay for my tooth, even though, I showed them the partially broken tooth on the table. (Anyone that makes beans knows if not washed properly there can be little rocks mixed in with bean) Then there happen to be a person from their corporate location there named CHRIS RIMMER and he told us "How Trejo's will take care of the dental bill and no worries and we are a big chain and do not want to lose your business on this little incident" Bunch of BS, Trejo's is not true to their word. Needless to say this is probably my worst restaurant experience anywhere. Trejos, you guys are really classless and cheap. read more

There are several locations in the area, but I have only eaten at this one. Service here is top notch and the rotund gentleman who seems to be the mgr does a great job to make sure drinks are refilled and customers are taken care of well. I have ordered several items off the menu and they are cooked well and the portions are more than adequate for dinner. There are only two items that prevent this from being a 5 star review: - A good portion of the chips served in a basket are always broken and its hard to get a decent scoop of salsa when you're holding a busted wedge of a chip. - The beef (steak/asada) is relatively low quality. This is the case for most Mex places and if you are familiar with cattle (boxed beef grading,etc); their quality is on the lower end of the scale (select and lower). Its a not a big issue, as flank is usually cut into small slivers and cooked well; hiding the deficiency in quality. If you want to taste the difference: order a fajita(or other similar dish) here or other local places and then one @ Superior Grill and you will taste the difference and actually tell the difference in the texture as well. Overall I highly recommend this place and will be making many return visits. read more

I love this little place. It's a little small and needs some new tables and booths for sure, but we love the food at this particular place. It's not real pricey either. We always order white queso with the meat in it. Soooo yummy. We also order white queso for our entrees. Wished they would include sour cream and guacamole with all their entrees though. Their shredded chicken burritos are stuffed full of chicken and very tasy. My husband loves their combo fajitas and adds shrimp. That does add up, and superior has better fajitas, but cost more too. We live near this little restaurant location, so it's very convenient for us and we love us some Mexican food. We eat here on a regular basis. I just hope they get some new booths and tables soon. They could improve the cleanliness some also, but I'm pretty OCD. read more

We live on base so after driving by this place for the umpteenth time, we decided to check it out. We had the chicken tacos and a quesadilla meal. The portions were good and for 8.99 I couldn't complain. The service was average. For a Sunday afternoon they weren't too busy, so the two waiters they had were able to make the rounds. Now this is just a pet peeve of mine, but I don't understand how a restaurant can still have carpet. Pull those things up! It makes it easier to clean and no one likes to smell 10 years of food stuck in the floor. Let's just say we're still looking for our favorite Mexican restaurant in Shreveport. read more

My friends and I decided to go eat at Trejo's on Youree for dinner, due to the fact that the one on Mansfield is excellent. Just because they have the same name and serve the same food, does not mean that they are alike. We sat there for an hour waiting just to get our order taken. The funny part was that there were only two other tables with people. We sat there for 30 minutes waiting to have our drinks refilled. We even went and asked twice where our waiter was. I tried. I really tried to like this place for my girlfriends sake. She really enjoys eating Mexican but I personally can't stomach the stuff most of the time, and it's places like this that are the reason for that gut-wrenching reaction every time she brings up Mexican food. When I order actual Mexican food, it's nothing to write home about. The beans and rice are subpar, the meat is either too greasy or too dry, and I always leave feeling worse than when I arrived. That bad feeling usually doesn't leave until the next day. As for my usual go-to meal, I get a cheeseburger. You may be asking yourself, "How many ways can they mess up a cheeseburger?" The answer; there are many ways you can mess up a cheeseburger. The past four times I've ordered from there, the patty has been a dry mess, full of gristle, with room temperature cheese half melted on top. The buns seemed to soak up what little moisture the meat had. The fries are always dry, but not crispy, and it barely seems like they bother to salt them. The texture is as if they fried them, left them out for a few hours, and then attempted to re-heat them in the oven. Half the time, the soda tastes flat or old, and despite me going to eat during relatively slow dining hours, the service came slow and half hearted. Every time you go there, your server is either apathetic or overenthusiastic to the point of being uncomfortable, complete with unnecessary personal space invasion (touching of the shoulders, leaning in a bit too close, etc.). When it's good and fresh, the chips and salsa are the best things about this place. Though, the chips are sometimes burnt and the salsa taste is too inconsistent. I didn't feel too strongly about this place before I got a taste of really good tex-mex, but now that I know better, you're better off taking your money down the street to the Taco Bell. It's the same quality food for a fraction of the price. read more

I was at the first Trejos Restaurant opening in 1984. This one was at Westgate. Celly was the owner, waiter, cook, cashier and greeter. And at the 10th anniversary, Celly was still doing it all! He was such a good asset for his restaurant. He would come and say hello to everyone in the restaurant and knew most of them by name. Great atmosphere, authentic food, chips, dips and cheese sauce. Highly recommend any of the Trejos restaurants; this is just my favorite..Celly's personality and friendliness helped make this Trejos a great success. Sorry to say that Celly died of Cancer last year; but, the family and friends still have the same great food and service. read more

The dirty salsa bowls foretold our culinary fortunes tonight. We were promptly seated. 10 minutes to first greet cutting it close, but the drinks came our right away. Waited another 10 minutes to order, as everyone was behind the folding wall cleaning the closed section. (Still fully two hours to posted closing time.) Dry, burnt skirt steak for me, and greasy chicken enchiladas for my wife. Kids' orders came out cold, as if they had been sitting there waiting for my skirt steak to burn. We normally eat at the Trejo's on Shreveport-Barksdale, and have had no issues like these in 10 years of patronage. Will not visit this one again. read more

Ok..so we went to Benton in search of another restaurant but they were closed. On the advice of a local we came here. Should have known that when I'm Cajun country. .eat Cajun! The decor on the outside almost had us turning around but there were cars and well..we were hungry. It is run down but clean and warm. The booth had rips and table wobbled. A young attendant brought out salsa in a jar and chips and 2 bowls. We inquired about queso as it wasn't listed as an appetizer but a side. Another server came to take our order and I had overheard someone ask about special salsa so I asked for it and was warned it was hot..bring it on! Warning : don't order the queso. .it is melted velvetta and nothing else. No other spices tomatoes or even rotell. I ordered the beef burrito. I had read the description and they left some things out. The beef to bean (canned ) ratio was 80:1. ..I sent it back. I will say service is extremely fast..which worried me slightly. From the time we ordered and received our food was approximately 3 minutes. The special sauce was ok..the heat built upon itself and the main ingredient was Tabasco. .not necessarily what I consider a normal Hispanic salsa ingredient but when on Rome. ..my husbands chimichanga was bland with more velvetta dumped on top. The rice had no taste. The good qualities were the friendly waiter, the chips and salsa and guacamole tasted fresh though overloaded with onion. Overall customers seemed happy and besides dairy queen was the only other restaurant on benton. We won't be back as the prices are extremely high for a meal I could have made at home myself alot better at half the cost. We ended up grabbing a burger from dairy queen. read more

ahhh, real mexican food, and even in a to go box, and I didn't get ripped off. warm, tortilla chips, enough to last for several meals, and a nice mild salsa to boot. large portions here. we got two soft tacos, with beans, and rice, and then enchiladas with beans and rice. very filling, and nice garlicy after taste. everything fresh, and fast. y'all made my night. too bad we're in a hotel, with our dogs. I was not impressed with this restaurant at. First of all the place was dead which should have been the first clue. Second of all the food. Nothing special at all. What I mean by that is that my husbands steak was over cooked but 1 but he says and his rice was cold. I got the combination plate which I usually love but not at this place. The tamale was so small that it looked like it was out of a can with can chili on top. My rice was also cold, the beans tasted like can beans. They put all this food on a plate even the taco and put it in the oven. The cost of our 2 meals was $31.59 I don't think it was worth it. I'm just glad I didn't get a margarita cause it would probably be a disappointment also. We will be going to Compdares for now on. read more

This was honestly the grossest restaurant I have ever set foot in. What kind of restaurant has carpeting? So nasty. The place smelled of mold as soon as we walked in the door. The water was undrinkable... tasted like the lines to the fountain machine have never been cleaned. The sour cream I was given on the side of my order was frozen solid. We are so disappointed in the service. We arrived and told the lady there were 10 of us. It took a very long time to push three tables together and have us seated. Once seated, it took another 10 minutes for our drink order to be taken. 45 minutes and 6 bowls of chips later, our food still has not arrived. I live in Texas so its hard to compare to the mexican restaurants we have here. I have been to Trejo's twice and the service is outstanding. The food is ok but not to up the standards of the Texas mexican restaurants. You will get a good priced meal here with great service. It is great for Shreveport. read more
