The place was crowded with tourists (Surprise, surprise) but it doesn't matter. The staff were helpful and proactive at cutting the line down. After much deliberation, I ended up picking some Butter Fudge up just for the beautiful silver and blue tin. I can't wait to drop back in to collect more darling tins, foreign candies and souveneirs for home.

All of the standard favorites: humbugs, sherbet dips, chocolate-covered everything, fruit-shaped everything...you get the idea. But imagine my absolute surprise when I spied a shelf stocked with American candy, cereals, and snacks...including my favorite: Cheetos. Not even 48 hour prior, I was telling my husband that I would go to obscene lengths to have a bag of Cheetos, so strong was my craving for the vile snack food. All the old favourites line the shelves like wallpaper in the old fashioned tall pots. You pick what you want, the lady weighs it up and that's it - cue memory lane. Sherbet Lemons will always be my favourite but there are so many others too. This is also a good shop to find sugar and gluten free sweeties - which is pretty rare so fair play!

They were left on our porch for a total of 30 seconds and they were liquid inside. completely ruined. No effort was made to have them survive the trip despite knowing where it was being sent to (a desert in the summer). It was shipped in a plain brown cardboard box and packed with standard air bags. No Styrofoam, no dry ice, nothing to prevent it from bring completely destroyed most likely way before it got to our house. If you're going to allow international shipping like you do I feel like greater care should be taken to ensure that the product will survive the trip! And we know your policy states that you aren't liable for damage due to climate but it's ridiculous to expect your customers to assume a candy shop doesn't take precautions to ensure that the chocolate won't melt in the summer! Also, we would have directly messaged this on your website but your contact page requires a UK telephone number so we have no other way of reaching you with this message. With shelves full of flying saucers, pink shrimps and sherbet to choose from you'll be hard pushed not to go into frenzy yourself. They make excellent stocking fillers and presents for kids - young or old. Treasure Island also has a stellar website for when you're too overweight to move from your armchair!

It's not as big as I would have liked (!) but they do manage to cram in a lot of things in here. Sweets are in huge jars just like the used to be before 'Pick n' Pix' was invented. (Having said that, there is a Pick and Pix section if you desire it, but I personally suggest the jars as they always have the best ones in there!). If you are in the area, it's definitely worth a trip inside!!

Buttered brazils, strawberry Fizz Wizzes, humbugs of various stripes, liquorice is all its awful guises (I hated it) including the packet of sherbert with a liquorice stick inside like a small firework. Those flying-saucer sherbets in different art-deco colours; aniseeed balls, pear drops, barley sugar, sarsparilla, sherbert lemons. A treasure trove. Interestingly, most are still made in Scotland and the North of England. It's a labour of love by the owner, Judith Burnett, to keep each jar stocked. How lucky we are that she does.

(Honestly the best truffle I have had, only in contention with Lindor chocs.) Try the ice cream from here too, if you're not on a diet, that is. However why not, the owner explained that it had been open since February and was very popular with people wanting a return to more traditional shops.The shelves were stocked with jars of every conceivable sweet including my favourite of sweet and sours. They also had a small selection of hand made nougat and speciality choclates very tempting!! I liked their novely range of choclate bars with labels to cover every type of occasion/person, daughter, son, teacher, thank you, cheer up etc. The shop also stocked helium balloons which I have always loved.
