The property is 420 friendly, so it was awesome to be able to smoke in the tree house, by the fire pit, even in the lounge while getting our snacks/drinks from the fridge. This space feels very cozy and more community-oriented than something like a hotel or air BnB. Pretty close to town, so easy to access anything you might need within a 10-15min drive. The animals on the property were all so precious and calm and curious about us. This was just such an awesome experience and stay! Highly recommend to people who are 420 enthusiasts, chill/relaxed mindset, looking for a quiet and calm stay, and love the outdoors. Not a good place if you're looking for luxury and a high-end boutique stay. Our last two nights of our journey were spent in Seattle at the Shafer Baillie mansion. I would highly recommend staying here. The location was great for getting to downtown and all around. It is close to the Cap Hill neighborhood with shops and restaurants. There is plenty of street parking in the vicinity. The mansion itself is part of what was known as Millionaire's Row. It was built in 1914 and has been well cared for over the years. When we came back from one evening out, we all gathered in the Library and set up some charcuterie and wine to share from our travels. It was so cozy sitting all together and chatting about our adventures. The rooms are historic with modern conveniences. Our room was the Queen Ann Hill. We slept soundly in our comfortable 4 poster bed. There was a helpful step stool for me to climb up as I am vertically challenged. It has original pushbotton light switches. It had a beautiful full length mirror. There was a flatscreen TV, but we had so many wonderful activities we did not use it. The bathroom was updated but still fit with the historic look. There were two showerheads in the tiled shower. Breakfast was lovely. I, personally, have a great deal of food allergies. There was ample selection that I was able to enjoy just as much as anyone else. There were breads and pastries, jams and spreads, yogurt and fresh berries, and a hot breakfast dish. Hard boiled eggs were available as well as cheeses and meats. There was a coffee bar that was available all day that also had tea and cocoa. We sat at the long dining table enjoying each others company and conversation. We got to meet some of the other guests which added to the experience. If I had known that such a bed 'n breakfast existed from the get-go, I would never had settled for…read moreanything else. Similar to the experience of chancing upon a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves the finest morsels of food to die for, Syl's bed 'n breakfast is one of those "I bet you can't eat just one" (Lay's) types of meals (see end for drawback). The meal starts out with a surprise. Well, at least that's what the chef would want you to believe. Unfortunately, due to the inconvenient car noises outside - car alarms, car door slamming, etc - that aspect of the meal was immediately foiled. The second part of the meai involves being forbidden from leaving the bedroom. I think it's safe to assume that "imprisonment" is an applicable term [I guess bed 'n breakfast was coined as literally meaning that I am going to eat in the room - no questions asked.] Fast forwarding to the actual meal presentation, service, and flavor... Amazing! It's odd knowing that I regularly eat in the very same kitchen where the meal was prepared, yet none of my dishes EVER looked and tasted like what I enjoyed. The fried potatoes, perfectly toasted bread, crepes from scratch topped with whip & fresh fruit, sausage mushroom tomato eggs, and freshly squeezed juice were presented on a custom serving tray. Although I wanted to rate the food & service 5-stars x 10^10, there was a significant drawback (con). Due to the seasonal nature of the cook and service, I unfortunately can not expect to experience such fine home-made food on a regular basis. The "chef" who prepared the meal was very clear that this was known before the meal was finished. I'm hoping that I can somehow kiss ass enough to get similar bed 'n breakfast type meals on a more regular basis - 2-3 times a week maybe? Actually, I'll settle for once a week if that's not too much to ask. So for that I can only give 5-stars. Oh yeah, the other drawback is that this meal carries with it the notion that the chef never cleans. Hmm. Not too many places can get off the hook with that one.

We had a great experience staying at the Grayson B&B and would absolutely consider staying here…read moreagain. We were vendors at the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire and needed somewhere to stay for about five weeks. Grayson B&B was by far the most affordable option we found compared with other nearby accommodations, so we decided to give it a try--and I'm really glad we did. One of the best parts of our stay was getting to know Miriam, the owner, and her family. Miriam is genuinely kind, very accommodating, and a great listener. I really enjoyed our conversations and getting to know her over the five weeks we were there. As a newer business owner, I especially appreciated the wisdom and advice she shared with me. I learned a lot just from talking with her about life and business. She was also genuinely happy for us whenever we had a successful weekend at the faire, which made our stay feel much more personal. It was nice coming back and having someone who actually cared about how things were going for us. We also really enjoyed meeting all of the animals on the property. Miriam raises chickens and has ducks, rabbits, cats, and dogs as well. She invited my daughter to come meet the chickens and ducks, and we also got to pet the rabbits, which my daughter really enjoyed. It was such a fun and charming part of the stay and made the property feel even more special. It's definitely not the kind of experience you would get at a typical hotel. Another thing I absolutely loved was Miriam's organic garden. She generously told us that we were welcome to pick anything we wanted from the garden at any time during our stay. We ended up picking some sugar snap peas, and they were so delicious! That was such a thoughtful and unique perk and another example of how welcoming she was with her home and property. The property itself is really special. The house is huge and has so much character, and the grounds, garden, and animals make it a fun place to spend time. You can tell Miriam has put a tremendous amount of care into the property. Because I booked our stay somewhat last minute, there wasn't one room available for our entire five-week stay, so we did have to switch rooms once based on the availability she had. Miriam was extremely accommodating and worked with us to make it possible for us to stay there for the full period. The move was easy, and we were comfortable in both rooms. The beds were very comfortable, and someone came in to clean our room every Wednesday. Each guest room also gets designated shelf space in the refrigerator, which was especially helpful for such a long stay. Saturday brunch was another really nice part of the experience. Miriam is a great cook and was accommodating of our dietary needs. Having brunch included every Saturday was something we really appreciated and looked forward to. The main thing to keep in mind is that this is a shared-space B&B, so the bathroom and common areas are shared with other guests. If you're comfortable with a shared living environment, I think Grayson B&B offers incredible value, particularly for an extended stay. Overall, our five weeks at Grayson B&B were a genuinely fun and memorable experience. It became our home base while we worked the Renaissance Faire, but it ended up being much more than simply a place to sleep. Getting to know Miriam and her family, talking with her and learning from her, meeting all of the animals, petting the rabbits, picking fresh vegetables from the garden, enjoying her Saturday brunches, and spending time on such a unique property made the experience special. Miriam is a genuinely kind person who made us feel very welcome, and I'm really grateful that we decided to give Grayson B&B a chance.

Please do not go to this place! It is nothing like advertised. The hosts were the rudest I've ever…read moreencountered, and the sheets were absolutely filthy. We were so uncomfortable that we decided not to stay, even though it meant driving 2 hours back home, returning the next day for an event, and driving another 2 hours again. We arrived 30 minutes before check-in because it was our first time in town, and we wanted to ensure everything went smoothly. As soon as I walked in, I honestly thought I was at the wrong place. The owner greeted me with a curt "Can I help you?"--as if she wasn't expecting us. I had to ask if I was in the right place, and she just shrugged. She immediately complained that we were early, asking, "Who are you?" and "Have you paid for the pet fee?"--all in a passive-aggressive tone. She told my husband to park "over there, by the pool," but her directions were so unclear that after asking three times, he parked where he thought she meant--only for her to snap that it was her husband's spot. When we saw our room, we were shocked to learn we had to share a bathroom with another guest--something not mentioned in the listing. Our only private area was a tiny bedroom. On top of that, we were hit with endless rules: We could only let our dog outside when her dogs weren't there, using a confusing "light signal" system. Shoes had to be removed at all times. Our dog's food and water had to stay outside. We had to be mindful of her 2-year-old child. The woman we were sharing the bathroom with was apparently afraid of dogs--why stay in a so-called "pet-friendly" place then? To make matters worse, the property is right next to a busy road with no sidewalk--unsafe and stressful for walking a dog. Finally, the bed was disgusting: the sheets were covered in pet hair, and we even found an ear pain medicine packet under the covers--proof they hadn't been washed. That was the last straw. We packed up and left. When I told the owner we weren't staying, she coldly replied, "OK, cool!" When I mentioned the dirty sheets, she just repeated that it was "weird" because they pay someone to clean, without apologizing or offering to change them. I also told her she should disclose the shared bathroom, and she dismissed me with, "That's a B&B thing"--which is false. After reading reviews, I noticed she often claims not to "recognize" guests who leave bad reviews but has no trouble remembering all the 5-star reviewers. Honestly, I don't know how this place gets any good ratings. Believe me--do NOT stay here.
