We stayed in a cottage, and I longed to return as before Angie's passing, we said we would do a yearly girls getaway weekend. Sadly, she would pass away just two short months after this trip. I'm happy to say, I'm finally making it back up here Angie! My boyfriend and I wanted to plan a weekend that wasn't a busier holiday or summer weekend. We landed on booking over Indigenous Peoples Day in October. We settled on booking a cottage as I adored the one we stayed in for the girls day weekend (Cottage 4). What I Booked: Premium 2 Queen Cottage, Hot Tub + Fire Pit Pros: - Versatile accommodations (bungalow, premium cottages, tiny cottages, airstreams, and inn rooms) - Love the backyard so you feel like you have your own private space - Very scenic and peaceful area around the cottage - Beds and pillows are very comfort for a good nights sleep - Hot tub is worth the extra money, and we both said it's a dealbreaker if there's not a cottage with one available - Porch is perfect a rainy afternoon or morning coffee as they do provide k-cups (don't forget to pack your creamer or milk as they do not have onsite) - Very responsive via text when we had an issue with a lock, and didn't receive email with check out instructions (likely went to spam but could not find) Cons: - The layout is a little odd, but manageable - Tight space, so fridge door can't fully open - Television placement in the back room of Cottage 1 is on the side wall, so you can't really watch anything (very odd design choice) - No lotion provided, usually a standard for hotels and accommodations - No table for the porch to have meals out there if you wanted a covered space for a meal (use picnic table outback but not covered) Overall, even those small nits in the Cons list, we have a fabulous stay! I'd prefer to stay in Cottage 4 like I did the first time, but it wasn't available. Cottage 1 was still a lovely stay but we didn't need two rooms. Truly amazing weekend getaway, and hoping to make this a yearly retreat with my boyfriend. My soul feels rejuvenated and would highly recommend to family, friends, & fellow Yelpers! In the winter, I love just staying in the main rooms or any of the cottages and decompressing, relaxing, staying warm. In the summer, it's the perfect area to go on some great hikes (I recommend Highline, Wildcat, and Fossil Creek of course). The rooms/airstreams are immaculate - with a truly relaxing, rejuvenating aesthetic. I've stayed in the queen and king rooms with couch, desk etc as well as the cottage and airstream which have more space and little kitchenettes perfect for making a small breakfast or reheating some leftovers. Service is really top tier- especially considering everything is hands-off, and there's no physic host/ess property manager on site- but Mike the Elk answers promptly and fulfills all reasonable requests to ensure your stay is just about perfect. Highly recommend coming here just for the inn alone- all of the other activities, restaurants and attractions will follow! @azfitfoodfun

I will need to say that I'm not going to mark this 1 star since we did like the place and a great…read moretown. fantastic contractors coming to keep the place nice and tidy and they do a great job. So no complaints all of that. Very nice people as well.   Our family were long-term tenants. at least since the beginning of the summer waiting for an adoption to complete with a foster child. I would say is if anyone would ever consider being long-term here, make sure that you go through the lease and make sure the landlord understand what he has each party sign. We were told (in the lease) we can give 30 day notice on each month to month scenario however when we gave 30-day notices for any given up coming month, we were being double-booked and literally our whole family had to move out just to accommodate a weekend.  We're foster parents working on an adoption of our 1 year old foster child, so we need to stay in the area until our adoption is done so we just kind of kept moving out and moving back in as these situations came up.. in hindsight legally I could have made an issue because the lease is given to the state and we need to obtain permission to go on these trips when in reality we're being booted. But we decided to just go with it at a respect and make the best of it.  the owner is a little old school and very busy and does lack some communication. And trying to point out something that was either written or talked about that he had forgotten he won't admit. He did say he was going to go back and look at the lease but never did hear anything. Basically a simple apology was lacking and would probably solve a whole lot of relational PR. I would just recommend to do your due diligence and stay on top of communication and always always always in writing. I even gave him many opportunities to communicate this with nothing. I even sent him copies of the lease. Nothing really ever came from those attempts to clean up any confusion. Once we were able to find a new place in our licensing jurisdiction, We decided to move out of respect of the situation. Also to lessen any tension that would ever be in the future due to lack of proper PR or even just simple honoring the lease or any other agreements. In fact we just had to smile because we were told we had to be out by Christmas since it's very busy at one point, then the 28th and now just finally told we could have stayed to the end of the month.:-) LOL so we had already made plans to be out early. We never ever pushed back when we were told these things even though we should have. So if anything hopefully this will help anyone who would find themselves in our situation.  Nice guy though and we did get along and it was fun to do some work around the place. I fixed a few things in the cabin even so it's sad that we had to leave. We really liked the place and gave him an opportunity to admit the lease and also to raise prices to be fair to him. But never heard anything back.  I'm a past business owner myself and I know the importance of good PR especially with your guests as we were renting guests. I don't want to take from all the five stars because they're short term and it's a great place to stay for that. But hopefully this will help anyone else and maybe needing or asking for long-term.
