Everyone needs a haircut, even a tree! And, in our case, it was two trees in front and several trees in back -- and another whose time had come to be completely removed! Our neighbor gave us the name and number for Tree North. Owner Israel was very professional and patient with us during the estimation process. We had a couple family episodes that interrupted us just as we had an estimation appointment. Even so, Israel made it work and we eventually got things estimated and scheduled. Israel gave us a professional clear written estimate for the work, which came in handy during the HOA approval process. Apparently, tree removal is something to be approved. On the day of the job, Israel's team arrived -- Alex, Ramiro, and Frank showed up on time and we carefully reviewed the work to be done. Alex left me with his cell phone number in case of any questions, and then everyone got busy. Cut, cut, cut, trim, trim, trim, grind, grind, grind -- they worked quickly and safely. Alex and Ramiro were a two-man team on the giant ladder, and Frank expertly made each limb disappear into the grinding truck. At every stage, they cleaned up carefully after themselves. At the end of the day, Alex asked us to review -- we had a few more overhanging limbs that we wanted to go away, and so back up the ladder he went! I just wanted to update my previous review! As you can see, Israel and his crew cut down 5 HUGE trees at the best price and highest quality. Here is what I wanted to add: These were removed to complete a renovation of my backyard. While digging out the dirt to make way for concrete, we quickly realized the roots under the surface were HUGE. I called Israel to see how much he would charge to come back and grind them down now that they were exposed even though he had already done them to ground level as agreed upon. Not only did he reply same day, BUT HE DID IT FREE OF CHARGE! What!? Who does that!??? Israel went wayyyy above the call of duty when he absolutely did not have to, let alone for free. Israel and his crew are friendly, fast, and skillful. I had previously had a few companies come out and give me quotes on my 120 foot dead tree. It was on a tricky location, but some of the quotes were outrageous to say the least. Israel took one look and said "yeah we can do this, no problem." He then provided me what I consider to be a reasonable quote; he also did some work on an oak tree and trimmed up some of my holly bushes free of charge. My neighbor and I obtained several estimates when considering having the large two Giant co-dominate Sequoia trees removed which are located at the rear corner between our properties, and I also need the height reduction to be done for two of the smaller trees behind my back yard. This is the 2nd time I've used the Tree North Tree Service. They helped me remove three dead trees several years ago, and they did an excellent job! The estimate was quick and Israel was very nice and knowledgeable. Also, I have to mention the estimate was at the most affordable rate, cheaper than others quite a lot (also, a little cheaper than the Altar's, which my neighbor likes its owner.) My neighbor and I were pleasantly surprised. We signed the online contract after receiving and reviewing the company's valid license and insurance info, and scheduled the work to be done within two weeks... The work was completed by three amazing guys yesterday (including Israel) quickly, professionally, and smoothly; our yard was left very clean. Per my request, these guys even helped me save some Oak wood chips as I need it for my fruit trees. The payment was made smoothly online too; I paid a small portion by cash and the majority by my credit card without any issues nor any additional fees. They started at around 8am and all were done by 4pm. (Other companies told us these jobs can be done in a couple of days.) They have maintained our fruit trees and have taken out 2 large "problem" trees for us, leaving the sites as if the trees had never been there. The most recent one was a HUGE lodgepole pine that had been killed by beetles. It was really impressive to see the team at work on this project. This is the second time we've had Tree North come out for a couple days of tree removal and pruning. This time Israel and crew spend a couple days taking out several dying trees off our property, removing dangerous Widow Makers, and pruning "iffy" ones to the point of us deciding to keep them instead of cutting them down. Tree North Tree Service responded to our request for a quote within one day and upon our acceptance arrived a bit over a week later (the date we requested) with a full crew to strategically limb and reduce branch weights for our two giant oaks situated right beside our art studios. They also removed limbs from around power lines on our trees along the roadway and cut back danger branches overhanging our driveway. They placed all of the large limb segments taken down in one area so we can buck it up for firewood. They shredded the great quantity of small branches from all of our array of trees and hauled that away. Our trees are now beautifully shaped with all damaged or danger limbs removed, and we love that. We appreciate Israel and his entire crew for all of their care in lowering down so many large, heavy oak limbs to the ground avoiding the near proximity buildings and windows. I rarely post positive reviews, but Israel and his crew from Tree North Tree Service are well worth your attention. These folks so far exceeded my expectations that I enthusiastically recommend them for the tree services that they provide. They were timely, efficient, thorough and courteous as they removed three trees and trimmed three others. In the past, I've had a number of tree services perform work for me; most oftentimes, the person doing the work is not the estimator who initially bid the job. Israel provides both the estimate, and performs the work. With other companies, if the crew trims an additional few branches not specifically referenced in the proposal, they charge a handsome bounty for any such additional work. Israel does what needs to be done, and he does it right, regardless of whether the additional work had been accounted for in his initial proposal. I had the owner of Tree North Tree Service ( Israel ) out to my home twice. Both times, he did not rush me and answered all my questions. The first time I called them, it was about a damaged tree growing on my parkway here in Salem. Israel explained to me that the City of Salem owned the parkway and and also owned the tree. I had to get permission from the City of Salem to remove the tree, replace it, or trim it. I contacted the City of Salem tree dept. He was quite nice. He said he would show up him self to check out the tree. A few days later he said that while the tree was indeed damaged, it was not damaged enough to remove it (I offered to pay to have it removed and pay for a new tree). He did say that he would send his crew out to trim the tree (at no cost to me). And that he did. I must say that the City of Salem tree crew did a great job on my tree and it sure looks a lot better now. Because Israel had been so knowledgeable and helpful, I called him again for some work on my property. I had two huge stumps on either side of my walkway in my front yard. They had been cut off about 3 or 4 feet from the soil line. Over the winter they had sent up thousands of shoots. I wanted them removed. I called a few tree folks on Craig's List and drove past a huge tree trimming service building with trucks and a huge lot. Few would give me the time of day and they all quoted me expensive estiments. I explained to Israel what I wanted. I also had two huge overgrown arborvitae plants in my front yard. Israel is easy to talk to and will listen to you when you are trying to tell him what you are inserted in. We agreed on a price and he showed up when he said he would. His company has a massive huge truck and tows behind it a machine that you can stick tree branches into. It grinds them up and then shoots the now wood chips into his massive truck. He made quick work of the overgrown arborvitae plants. He was unable to use a stump grinder to grind down one stump because it was right next to the wall of the sidewalk. So he pressure washed all the dirt away from the stump and then using a chain saw, he cut the huge stump down level with the soil line. After a lot of reading on the Internet, I read that you can make a stump rot away in a year or so if you drill 1 inch holes in it, and then dump fertilizer (called potassium nitrate) in the holes and then keep it wet or moist. If you go to Home Depot or Lowes, you can buy small bottles of "stump remover" (potassium nitrate} that cost a lot of money. I bought 2 lbs of it on Amazon (with postage, about $30.00) and the forum I bought on Amazon was more pure then what you can buy at the local hardware store. Rather then cut off stump # 2, he figured that he might be able to pull out the entire thing with his equipment. It took him a while to do it, but he was able to remove the entire stump which I was quite happy about. And while this was not in his bid, he decided to also pill out the roots of the two huge arborvitae plants he had removed. Before he left, he put on a blower back pack, and cleaned up any dirt or leaves that did not make it into his truck. Nice touch! Sometimes you get lucky and find a craftsman who knows his job, is honest and will at least listen to you when you try to tell them what you need. And when the price is right, it is even better. I am the kind of person who *always* gets three bids before I hire someone. But things worked out so well with Tree North Tree Service (and Israel) that when I need tree or stump work in the future, I am just going to call them and have come out and do the work. Heartbreaking as it was, the huge oak tree in my backyard had a developed a gaping hole in the trunk and splits along more than one branch. I called Israel of Tree North Tree Service, who has done work at my house in the past to remove it. Watching Israel climb in spikes to the very top of the tree and strategically remove sections wielding a chain saw and hand saws was poetry in motion. Not only did he surgically make the cuts but using ropes and pulleys, all of the sections, all day long landed in the same place in the yard every time! Israel is a ROCK STAR!! Israel arrived early in the morning with four associates who each had a specific task in the operation. They lifted, cut, pulled and chipped or loaded those huge sections until that all that was left was the stump (had I asked, they would have ground that down too). The tree was down in one day and the next day two men arrived to complete the trunk cutting and hauling of the oak and trimmed a few other trees in the yard and then cleaned up the entire area.
