I am not sure exactly when I started seeing Mark, but it was for pain in my left hand that was so bad, I couldn't hold a coffee cup, and you have to know how bad that was. I was originally told by a hand specialist it was arthritis, but a personal trainer thought it might be tendinitis, so I searched the web looking for a "Mark" to ease my pain.. So I went in to see Mark a few weeks after being in a car accident...after several friends from work noticed that my left shoulder looked much higher than my left shoulder....also since my muscles were so tight that the Chiropracter I was seeing was having trouble making adjustments. When I had gone to the doctors they noted my skewed posture as cervical (another way of saying neck) deformity, and pretty much said there was nothing they could do about it. Anyways, when I went to see Mark at Treatment Massage he wanted me to tell him the details of the accident...how the cars had hit, what angle, how fast, etc...based on what I told him he knew exactly what to do. And like every session, before we started, he had me stand in front of him as he visually assessed my body from all sides......which he then also pointed out that my head was sitting completely forward way beyond my neck and shoulders and that my shoulders were not only lopsided from left to right but that they were rolled forwards...when I got home and looked I saw that he was right...it then made sense why I was experiencing the pain that I was ...the impact against the seatbelt as we slammed into the car turning in front of us had caused quite a bit a soft tissue damage. At the end of every session he also assessed to see what progress we had made and what we would work on the next appt. He has a method and it works. After about 5 months I finished my treatment ...at first I saw him twice a week, then once, then every two etc...and now I have perfect posture...even better posture than I had before the accident. I must say it's not your typical massage, but like I said, his method works. Not only is he good at massage but he is a really easy going guy. Although I was looking for a female therapist, I don't at all regret ending up with a male therapist instead ...I never felt uncomfortable with Mark...he's in tune with you ...will conversate with you if you want...or just work silently ...he picks up on things like that. He's also a family guy with a good sense of humor. Highly recommend Mark at Treatment Massage! He's usually pretty booked so make your appointment with him a week in advance. I have a chronic shoulder and neck condition from an auto accident as well as age related issues due to arthritis. I'm very grateful that my weight trainer referred me to Mark. He quickly diagnosed the problem areas. After a few treatments, I have less pain in my shoulder and neck as well as greater range of motion. After 5 years of outdoor running with only minor and temporary injuries, I came down with a pretty severe case of Plantar Fasciitis. Not only did the pain prevent me from running, but I had to walk with a cane for weeks. I researched everything I could about the condition, and eventually went to see a Podiatrist. Despite babying my foot, and following the recommendations of the Podiatrist and a PT, the pain just wasn't going away. After almost a year without running, I went to see Mark at Treatment Massage. Mark has a unique way of practicing -- and it works! I am always amazed by how results from his work has surpassed work I've had done by other providers (physical medicine MDs, chiropractors, natropaths and massage therapists) in a just a few months (compared to the few years I've been having work done by the aforementioned providers). I was having headaches, neck/back/foot pain that was starting to interfere with my life. Other providers were happy with my progress because I wasn't on pain meds, but I knew I still wasn't reaching my fullest potential: pain free and able to exercise and feel better (not worse). Mark is intuitive, highly skilled, and effective. HIs structural massage, which included fascial release, is deep, and safe. He listens to the body's needs and provides the relief necessary. The body is returned to its integrated state with a few sessions. I came with several issues involving back pain, neck pain, ribs and sciatica. Having been to many massage practitioners sometimes I just want results - a return to mobility after a stiff shoulder, for example. Mark has consistently helped me regain, bit by bit, mobility where I have an injury. After experiencing a herniated disc in my low back which caused nerve pain in my leg and foot, I FINALLY took a friends advice to go see Mark. After a few sessions I had noticible improvement in my pain level and his treatment has kept me from returning to have an injection into my spine which is what I am looking to avoid. I've had to miss a couple of weeks lately and can feel the difference....I miss him and need to get back into his capable hands. Mark is also easy to be around, chatty if you want to be, not if you don't. Amazing work. I've only seen Mark for 3 sessions (initial and then 2 follow-ups). My intent was to focus on adhesion that might be the root cause of SIBO and some gut issues. Mark has definitely made progress on my Csection adhesion, but he's made me realize that "it's all connected". Working from my feet up to my head, front and back, has made me start to feel like I can move in ways that I haven't been able to in years, the movement just feels easier, more natural. Mark Pearlscott is really fantastic at what he does, and is exceptionally caring. He doesn't do relaxation-type massage, only injury/dysfunction treatment, and man, he knows his stuff. He will fit you in for an after-hours appointment in an emergency. We've got my pain levels down from a 9 out of 10 to a 1 or 2 at most on a daily basis from a herniated disc/radiculopathy. I'm now convinced that fixing fascia problems is where it's at. His techniques work, bottom line. You may experience pain/discomfort, but Mark will ease you through it and into a more pain-free existence on the other side. He also seems happy to let you email and ask questions at him, with great patience and good humor. The downside is that his availability is tight - you'll need to schedule several weeks - month ahead of time, but call go ahead and call him if you need to get in, he'll probably find a way! read more
