The people working there are incredibly nice and very helpful which is remarkable how many people get in and how demanding some customers can be. Often the boxes are sealed with a few, not being fully labeled. If you'd like to check inside, take the box to the front counter and they'll help you look inside. Phenomenal staff. Absolutely worth the drive. Parking can be a challenge, but it's worth walking a couple blocks.

You are not allowed to open boxes in the bin but at a separate area designated for opening and reclosing boxes. Friday is when the shipment arrives $10, Saturday is replenished $8, Sunday $6, Monday $4, Tuesday $2 and Wednesday $1, with Thursday being closed. My very first experience was very close to opening at 10am on Friday, when stock is replenished. Oh man oh man, make way make way. It is a frenzy, don't be alarmed when you hear the alarm. Get your running shoes on (but don't run) to the back where employees bring out carts of new stuff to restock. I can assume that this happens once an hour (as I was there right when it happened and when I was about to leave). Steal deals, let me tell you. When you first walk in, there is an "opening station" to your left... however, there is no respect... most people shopping who open up the packages and items fall out. Then they move all. I witnessed many employees going around and re-tapping boxes. During this visit, I was able to score a gaming keyboard and mouse for $10 (amazon regular $28), a fan (amazon regular for $48.99) for $15 in the box, new. Visit #2 was a Monday.... slim pickings BUT about half of the first wooden bin is clothes. I was able to grab 2 soap automatic rechargeable and mounted soap dispensers for $4 each, a pretty cool beer/water dispenser for the fridge for $4, and picked up another fan for $15! Visit #3 was a Saturday, today. I had no idea they replenished on Saturday but happy. This time, I brought reinforcements, hubby, and son. Picked up 2 PS4 remotes, a trackball mouse, Oral-B toothbrushes, a shaving kit, and so much more. It was a good thrilling and exciting rummage. Takeaways - the downfall is that not all boxes have labels. Some boxes end up missing items because disrespectful customers do not follow the rules or have patience to look at the box. Items on the side and back walls, as well as the front store has different prices. Definitely look up the item on the amazon website... there is some steal deals. Use the station and plug in everything before you leave or buy! No exchanges or refunds - final sale.

IMO some people are probably hating on them because of the price increases to $1.25 then $1.50. And the $3 and $5 items. I understand business realities though and think that rating is too low for stores doing the best that they can. This Dollar Tree store is one of the locations I go to when I'm up for driving farther and I don't go frequently. The store is always clean and well stocked. No inventory blocking aisles that I've seen. I went there today. Or maybe yesterday now since I'm editing my original review. I was greeted when I came in the front door. The shelves were stocked well, as always. There was even a rack of bread products. There were TWO checkout lanes open. A rarety at small business locations these days. The woman who rang up my purchases was friendly. That's rare these days too. Yvonne was the name on my receipt. And while I know there is security in the strip mall, I didn't see them. Contrast that to my experiences at the other El Cajon location I reviewed recently. Ugh. So good job to the management and employees here. Dollar Tree is another store chain that I'm sure struggles to find inventory that is appealing and they can buy cheap enough to make still make their profit on. I get that they want to leave early, but I was there for one thing and they smiled and said we are closed and to come back tomorrow. My review is the lie that the employees said and closed early and got caught. Not good public retention.
