The PEP Program is FSUSD's best kept secret. A little too well kept! The program is open to ALL…read morestudents in the district (you don't have to live in Crescent's attendance area) who are in grades K-5. The program basically works like this: parents volunteer one day a week in the classroom, for approximately 3 hours. This gives teachers more one-on-one time with students, parents get to be hands on with their child's education, and it builds a community rarely seen in our busy world. The teachers are dedicated, going above and beyond what is required. We've had a volunteer choir when no music program was available through the district. We go on field trips, and fund raise so that EVERY student goes on the field trip with no worries about cost. I have the enviable position of knowing all the parents of my child's classmates as well as all his classmates. Students who are exceeding grade level work can go to the next grade level up for that particular subject, and aren't going into the classroom of a teacher they are unfamiliar with. Students requiring additional attention are able to receive it, by parent volunteers in the classroom AND their teacher. There are family gathering events, from Winter Concerts to potlucks. We have a "Dad's Day" where dads, grandpas, uncles, etc. come in and share something about their jobs or hobbies. Last year we had a Vallejo motorcycle police officer and the kids (and a few teachers!) got to sit on his bike, there was fishing, working on electronics, trying on military tactical gear and much more. There are special themed centers for holidays, a monthly Books & Bagels event for kindergarten & first grade, and there was talk of starting a robotics team this coming school year. Knowing all the benefits of this program as well as the opportunity to be in there, not just attending PTO meetings, had made all the difference for me. My child loves it and is successful in school, I love it, and I want more families to know this is an option for them.

This year My daughter has mrs Heidi Ellinger ,in my opinion she is a big game player .! Since the beginning of the year she's had an epiphany against me . I was not able to attend the beginning of the year meetings due to I had just started in the union . Now I have a little bit more time just because I was offered a job through Union friend with better benefits, and more pay who would not switch especially when it's something I love and I'm able to take all those days off, I have my princess !! Moving forward that's beyond the point !! My daughters mother and her husband was able to attend . I was not able to obtain any information due to personal reasons .I've always tried to speak with the teacher .I had just went to this trimesters . Parent teacher conference, which I was able to obtain some really good information to see what my daughter needs to work on but unfortunately the teacher was playing the game from when I had shown up trying to figure out me more about me than keep it on a respectable professional level.. which is very disrespectful from somebody that has graduated with honors I just is looking for the same for my kid! Anyone that is a single parent understands where I'm coming from we're not here to play games. We are here to figure out what our kids need to work on that we truly do love unconditional . I see why a lot of people are turning to homeschooling because of the nonsense that we have to deal with in public schools. Unfortunately, if it was my choice, my daughter would be at nelda Munday elementary where I attended and I see why they're still a distinguish school way better school a lot more respectable teachers. Now the teacher was playing the game so much with me. I'm worried about mine and my families well-being, and it shouldn't be like that coming from a public school. And unfortunately, if this keeps occurring or the game keeps being played with somebody, that does not want to be, my lawyers will be getting involved. Send the reviews from the school. I'm sure there's multiple parents that would not mind starting at class action lawsuit on the civil rights movement . I just wanted to make it known because instead of me making a public scene I like to put it all down documented and this is the best way to do it. I have a long commute all the way from San Francisco just to put up with nonsense which is very unfortunate. Hoping when my mother helps me now she will not be in harms way as well. Thanks

All he does is create AI-generated memes and emails. Dr. Gentry does not lead the school as an instructional leader. He canceled every staff meeting last school year and doesn't ensure collaborative time on short Wednesdays is utilized by teachers. Our children's instructional time is wasted! He puts his work on other staff members. The academics at this school have dropped considerably. There is no data-driven decision-making by this incompetent leader. He has been observed making comments about the staff members whose husbands abuse them and who do and do not come from money. He has created a culture of gossip. Many families are choosing to remove their children from this school. I encourage you to do the same.

In fact, you should be doing that to the principle, not on an open forum. He wants to hear your concerns. This school is the best in the Fairfield area and you won't be disappointed. Btw, my daughter loves the new walking and running routine in the morning before school now. It is so easy to drop her off. No more fits, she just kisses me and runs off to the playground to dance and run to the music. Great job staff! 2015/2016 school year is a hit! Parents, volunteer and see your kids school at work. They need your help and your support both in time and opinion.

My son would come home in tears saying that Cindy would make him feel stupid and he would have to always say sorry for his actions. We than went out and had a individual test of my son and they was heart broken to hear how a teacher could make someone so intelligent feel shelled in and insecure at such a young age. We pulled our son because of the protesting going on in front of the school and Cindy saying she can't do anything for my son because she is a public school teacher. Cindy called one day and asked if we can bring a toy so she could use it a pacifier for my son. I told her no that he has been in programs since 2, she went against what we said and bought him a toy and told him not to tell his parents. That was the last straw and he was pulled from the school immediately.

The school seems…read moreto have had a lot of upgrades to it, as is expected after so many years since my attendance. The library is definitely a great addition considering the one we have was a third of the size. There have been quite a few other improvements as well, but the bones of the original school are still there. As far as the staff goes, it's a 50/50 toss up. You have some teachers that are doing well by their students, and some that are just petty. You have some counselors who seem to take an active interest in ensuring a child is on the right path for their future, and then you have the ones who are taking actions that affect your child's record. Discrimination seems to be commonplace with the staff. At least that's how my child and I have felt. I'm leaving a review because there is an issue with how things are ran. My child gets sick often because autoimmune issues run in the family. Every time he is sick I notify attendance. As of now, I have received multiple letters stating my child is chronically absent, and the whole blah blah about how it affects grades. My son's grades are excellent, because even when he is sick, he gets his work done. He is also in AP classes. His grades in fact are NOT suffering. First off, it is posted in each classroom that if you are sick, to stay home. But if you follow this guideline, you get threats in the mail about possible legal action. So their rules contradict themselves. Now, any time my son is sick, a doctor's note is required. Doctor's can't stand when a child is brought in every time they are sick, just for a note. Not everyone has the ability to get a same day appointment, and urgent care is another problem. I myself am disabled, so it's difficult just to get out and run around trying to find a place to get my child a doctor's note. Not only does the staff at this school discriminate, they don't uphold their own rules. If you want children to stay home when they are sick, then don't send letters home when they are excused. It seems as if they think I'm just keeping my child home just to skip. I could understand if my child was actually struggling. But he isn't. The grades prove it. The classes he is in and upholding, prove it. His ability to participate in extracurricular activities, prove it. What it comes down to is this, I'm not the only parent having this issue. So this is a problem with the institution, not the kids. Yes there are students that are skippers and who are failing, my child isn't one of them. To send these letters home and labeling him is affecting his record, which both he and I have a problem with. Especially considering he is going to be applying to some big colleges, required for his particular career field. Something needs to change, clearly. Even if it means all the parents and children being affected by this have to start having a voice, and bring it up at a board meeting. End the stigma with chronically ill people and stop discriminating against them. It's the schools job to make sure my child meets requirements and graduates. My son is doing his part, the school seems to be doing what they can to tarnish his name. I've made attempts to contact the principal in the past about matters, but never have I received a response. If your child will be attending this school, keep records of everything. It will help you in the long run.
