I was booked to stay there on the 15th of August 2011, but my client as I was up in Preston for work. As a guest from a different country I was shocked at the location of the hotel, considering its a brand name, I would have expected it to be in a decent area close to local amenities, but this to me was in the middle of an industrial estate, and it looked terrbile, the area looks like a bomb has hit it (and it was not part of the uk riots!) When I got there, the person at the front desk was very polite to me, so I can not fault the reception at check in. However when I got to my room, I was mortified. As a female staying on my own the situation of my room was really terrible, you could see into the windows from the car park, and several times I found myself leered at by people, so I had to keep my curtains closed. The view was terrible anyway so that was not much of a big deal. The state of the room was abysmal, the toilet roll holder was broken, the bathroom was a mess, with used towels (i only had one clean towel there) I had only one tea bag and sugar, there was rust on the bins, the toilet made an awful sound, and there was grot and mould on the showers. The carpets were so filthy that i kept my shoes on most of the time I was there. Food is served at 5pm, however when I got to the resturaunt, there was no chef! NO FOOD, and no service. The woman (who was so unprofessional, had no intelligence and teeth that could open a beer bottle) that was at the bar, blamed everyone else and remarked- I didnt even have food for the breakfast menu. I was so shocked, whern I finally found something that they did have in stock, I was appalued at the state of it. The nachos were microwaved tat, with several items missing (including jalepeon peppers) and the curry was also pre made, and missing items. When I pointed this out to the woman, she had no idea what jalepeno peppers are, I had to explain this for ten minutes while my food became colder and more congeeled. When I finally got through to her, I waited a further twenty minutes to find that she brought me out some sort of deep fried cheese balls! I explained to her that these are not peppers!!! and she again asked me what they were, by this time my food was cold, I was angry and asked for the manager. The manager was quite shocked that her staff did not have a clue what peppers were (they were all english and english speaking) so they took the food back and refunded me , asked me what i wanted to eat free of charge and went to get the items from LIDLS!!!! I had a cajun salmon that was not remotely cajun and so rubbery that it stuck to the wall! the salad was a bagged salad from lidls and so foul that it was inedible.
I didnt stay for breakfast!
Needless to say that I had such an awful time that I wouldnt even go back to that part of the country again! read more
