I've stayed here at least 6 times in the last 15 years & the standard of accommodation is 1st rate as are the cooked breakfasts - just the job to set up a day's walking, cycling or driving around this delightful island! Carol & Paul Hallums run The Lodge & go beyond the call of duty to make guests feel welcome & help advise on local events or attractions. Well worth a visit! There's a bus stop close by - Vectis Buses run a reliable service across the island & a week's pass that includes the open-top tour buses costs £20 each with family tickets also available.

They Generously gave me extra supplies for the room - big handfuls of coffee sachets and 8 types of tea bags. This is what professional cheapskates like me do, pretend like we drink 12 cups of tea/coffee per day so that we can take all of it home and serve to our visitors. The folks in the breakfast room kindly served my breakfast up for me from the buffet when I stated Covid concerns (really I'm just too lazy to get up) - made me feel like a king. More coffee, fetch me an apple, and make it snappy! Premier Inn is a chain, so hotels and rooms look pretty similar anywhere you go, you know what you get, the food is pretty good, but I would pick a beach location next time.

The room is small but functional and the bed was extremly comfortable and there was no external noise from nearby motorway There is a small restaurant in the hotel but personally I would recommend walking for 10 min and eating elsewhere. You have very little interaction with staff as it's almost an automated checkin via touchscreen. WiFi was great but phone signal was really bad.

No issue with answering questions that were asked. The hotel itself is huge with lovely rooms and they are very clean. I would not fault their service and will certainly recommend them as a wedding venue as they have everything that you could need.

My colleagues who tried to use the work out room were frustrated that it couldn't be used without charging to the room. This inconvenience deterred them from using. Came here on a business trip. The hotel is very quaint and rustic looking. If thats your thing, its a very cozy lobby, with a couple of chairs in front of the fireplace and a couple of benches with tables for those that want to sit and have a drink or work. On the first day I was there, they were just starting a 5 week renovation of the Pub and restaurant area, although I never heard any banging or work from my room. The rooms were nice, appointed in the 1950s style with minimal amenities There is no safe in the room and only a couple of outlets that are strictly European. In the bathroom, there is a towel warmer that barely heats up the towels. If you want the Air Conditioning to turn on, you need to turn it on yourself. They do have flat screen TVs in the rooms and a trouser press, but that doesn't really work. Barely gets warm. I stayed here for 3 nights and was glad when I changed to a more modern hotel. If you like the quaint hotels for the architecture and charm, then this would be great. The service was very good. The breakfast in the morning was OK and buffet style with daily specials that they can make for you in the kitchen upon request. If you want coffee, they will bring that to you and you can request a latte, and it is considered a regular coffee, so there was no extra charge, if you get the breakfast included rate. Its not a great latte, but it should do the trick.

With rooms on three floors, take the stairs and you'll be pleasantly surprised by the elegant sweeping 18th century Adam staircase; on the walls - of the first floor - you'll discover memorabilia dating back to the time of the original owner, Admiral George Murray, who served with Nelson. Bedrooms are sympathetically restored, with an unobtrusive modern touch, in warm neutral tones. There's a flat-screen TV on the wall, comfy chairs to relax in, a good supply of quality wooden hangers (although only wall hooks, rather than a closed wardrobe) to hang your clothes on and a sleek, efficient kettle together with tea and coffee supplies to prepare hot drinks with. The bathroom is simple and white, comfortable enough (and very clean) with courtesy (ginseng-enriched) products. Rooms still use a traditional key system and have a name as well as a number. I was concerned that sounds from the (quite noisy) old-fashioned, gate-style, lift might be intrusive but happily that wasn't the case. Views from my window (at the back of the hotel) were of buildings and the car park with verdant hills in the distance. Reception staff were efficient, smiling, helpful, welcoming and obliging. Well-deserved of its three star rating; decent value (even better if you get a special offer deal) and a very pleasant, convenient place to stay in the centre of Chichester and for access to other parts of West Sussex.

The location is ideal: within the old city walls and a very short walk from the market cross which marks the town centre. The building itself is part of Chichester history, and has been sympathetically restored. Rooms are decorated boutique-style, in gentle colours with plantation blinds and suede accents, and amenities include a flat-screen TV, drinks tray, and lovely toiletries in the bathroom (which had both shower and bath). As well as the rather grand staircase, there is an old-fashioned lift (the sort with a sliding gate). Staff were really friendly and helpful. Breakfast included a full English along with a buffet of pastries, meat and cheese, cereal and fruit. This was eaten in The Place, a brasserie at lunch- and dinner-times; there is an adjoining bar with open fire.

It is pleasantly decorated and spotlessly clean - and guests are welcome to come and go as they please throughout the duration of their stay. Our twin room was large and very comfortable, with a lovely view over the garden and out towards the sea. The bathroom was perhaps a little compact, but perfectly adequate, and the beds and furniture were of good quality. The breakfast was excellent with plenty of fruit, cereals and yoghurt. The cooked breakfast was delicious. Guests make their own toast as and when they want it. This does means you have to leap up and down a bit during breakfast - but also that you never have to ask for more toast! The hotel isn't five-star, but neither are their prices, which are kept to minimum by cutting down on some (but not all) of the little extras that so many hotels provide in abundance these days. For a three night break, I was offered a rate of £48 per person per night, which included B&B in a spacious, comfortable room AND also the ferry. If you've checked the price of the ferries between the mainland and the IOW, you will appreciate that this is extremely good value. If I had to pick a negative... the owner does not come across as one of the friendliest or most forthcoming of hosts, however he was helpful and polite when approached! I wouldn't hesitate to return - and the guest book would indicate that many guests are regulars.
