The room was clean & tidy, despite a few amrks on the walls (which seem to be a common thing at travelodges). Unfortunately the shower didn't work so had to use just the bath instead. Despite the niggling items it's convenient to stay on the way to the ferry port at Holyhead.

The lady that checked us in (forgive me as I cannot remember her name) was lovely! So helpful and friendly. The room was only a standard and yet so spacious and wonderfully decorated. The waiter could not have been more helpful and very attentive.

My wife and I spent a very pleasant night here last December, we couldn't afford more than one…read morenight as this is a very high class and very expensive place to stay. It is country house hotel located out in the country in central Anglesey and is as quiet and tranquil as you could want. When you walk up the sweeping stair case and take in the decor you realise that this is a high class establishment. The rooms include all the facilities you would expect with four poster beds available in some rooms. The hotel also offers a well appointed spa complete with pool, jacuzzi, sauna, gym etc which unfortunately we didn't have time to visit. We were offered the choice of either dinner in the dining room which requires formal evening wear or the more informal choice of the Cafe Wine bar. As I didn't have a tux with me (actually I don't have a tux full stop) we opted for the wine bar. This was located in what appeared to be an old stable and was very nicely renovated. It was surprisingly quiet (it's open to non-residents) but the food was fantastic and not too expensive. We both opted for an award winning kerala beef curry dish which is highly recommended if it's still on the menu. If you've got cash to spare or if you can find a special deal (which was what we did) this is a fantastic place to spend a weekend.

Travelodge is just about the same across the board so there's not much I can say…read more This place is clean, decently priced. People at the desk at all hours. Flexible on late check outs. I do have a problem with the wifi. You have to use a new e-mail address in order to log in and use the internet, but that only buys you 20-30 minutes for each e-mail you use. The good thing is that you can make up whatever email you want to to login but still an inconvenience is you are trying to stream movies or conduct business meetings. Rooms are clean and simple. Location is great, right across the street from the Holyhead train station and super close to ferry that goes in and out of Ireland.

But ... there is room for improvement: 1) sticky bar floor at 7pm Sunday 2) had to order food for beer garden at bar (should have service in garden) 3) bar staff could not figure out how to run a tab, so we would have had to pay multiple times for food, dessert, more drinks. We chose to only pay once, then leave. 4) very rowdy guests in beer garden was annoying and nothing was done about it 5) had to carry our own drinks and cutlery to garden, really, need wait staff to do this 6) smoking in garden was annoying as we ate. So food was great, but service needs to be better.

Fantastic B&B of fantastic quality - weekend B&B for £105 - fantastic cooked breakfast, great…read morerestaurant and friendly bar. For the price range, which I would put in the ££ bracket [It is NOT ultra high-end in price (think that must've been based on the 2009 Qype review or maybe Brexit has affected the pound sterling to an extent I don't know of yet).], it gets 5 stars. The service for the B&B and the restaurant and bar was spot on and it was such a nice little place with great interior, clean, well-decorated en suite bedrooms. ROOM: Great size, nice en suite, nicely furnished, clean bed linen, towels, etc. TV worked and there was a nice little refreshment tray with choice of coffee grounds for a 2-cup cafetiere, teabags, instant coffee and hot chocolate and nice biscuits. FOOD: The food was really good quality and there was a great range on offer on the menu (see my pics) for both breakfast choices and evening meals. The restaurant was in a separate adjacent room to the pub so it was less busy and more comfortable. For our evening meal, we ordered a Fishmonger's board to share (smoked trout, smoked salmon, peeled Atlantic prawns and beer-battered fish goujons) - it was delicious and there was enough for at least 3 people to share! For our mains, we ordered the 8oz sirloin steak and a mushroom open ravioli - both of which were well cooked and tasted great! BAR/PLACE: The bar was lively so beware if you're staying over the weekend and want early nights. When booking, I would suggest you ask for a room on the second floor. We were directly over the bar and the noise was gone by 1am and it wasn't so bad. There was also ample room to sit outside. There's a children's play area too. There's also a function room which has a mini dance floor - perfect for birthday parties.

Next time then... We took a table in the wonderful saloon. Nice chandeliers, leather couches and seats. Very classy, very comfy. And our Bulldog was even allowed in there. Had a tomato soup, steak sandwich with fries and a jacket potato with beans and cheese. Staff was very friendly. The order took pretty long to arrive, but it was clear the meal was freshly made. So it was fine to wait for it. Jacket potato was very nice. You won't be hungry after. The tomato soup was a bit on the thick and sweet side. The fries were crispy and hot. The meat in the steak sandwich of high quality. Very juicy and tender. Prices for all items very fair. All in all a good lunch. Nice setting, very comfy and relaxed.

I was going to stay at the hotel and I should have done as the rooms have all the facilities and a buffet breakfast as well as being reasonably priced, well in Beaumaris anyway. I did however stop for a drink. The hotel does look dated inside and it seemed busy with lots of staff milling around and guests of all ages included four-legged friends. The young and old seem to separate themselves. Younger folk running in and out of the venue or relaxing in the bar area. The older crowd get the sea views at the back sat in beautiful chesterfield chairs having cream tea or ice cream. Well worth a stay or visit.
