Travelodge is a great choice if you're visiting Dover and looking for a convenient walkable location. This is one of the closest hotels to Dover Castle (about twenty minutes on foot uphill with some steep portions and many stair steps). It's also about a twenty minute walk from the Dover Priory train station. There are many restaurants, stores, coffee shops and even a movie theater just minutes away.
The room was somewhat compact with a desk, en suite (shower only) and USB ports conveniently built into the headboard. The bed was quite firm but that suits me just fine. There was also a flat screen TV, electric kettle with an assortment of coffee and teas and air conditioning which is a plus since the windows cannot be opened. Curtains do not blackout the room so if you're planning to sleep during daylight hours, bring a sleep mask. The room was relatively quiet for a hotel with inside hallways and external noise was not an issue. Water pressure and hot water in the shower was fine.
A nice plus with the room I was in was a lovely view of Dover Castle. Proximity to the Castle was my top reason for staying here.
The optional breakfast buffet included bacon, sausage, hash browns, pancakes, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes & scrambled eggs. Breads included bagels, croissants and white bread (toast yourself with a conveyor toaster). There were several cold cereal options as well as fruit and yogurt. Beverages included an automated coffee machine with several options (from a basic Americano to Lattes, cappuccinos and more) and a juice dispenser. While the hotel breakfast buffet is convenient and you can easily fill-up, quality is just okay. If staying again, I'd probably opt for a local coffee house (there are two Costa's just steps away).
Overall, I'm recommending this hotel for a stay in Dover. I would absolutely choose to stay here again. read more
