This is a relatively new branch of the Premier Inn, located just off The M2 motorway, on a new development south of Faversham. It's about a 15 minute walk into the town (and its railway station). It has a free car park, and is adjacent to an Aldi if you need to buy essentials or snacks.
When we booked, we opted for the premier plus room, which comes with enhanced free Wi-Fi and free water. The rooms aren't any larger than the standard rooms, but the furnishings are a bit nicer as well. The room comes equipped with tea and coffee making facilities, including a coffee machine with pods. We also opted to pre-book the continental breakfast selection.
One of the things I was a little bit worried about was whether we would have any noise, from the proximity of the motorway. I need not have worried, as the soundproofing was excellent and we didn't hear any exterior noise, nor anything from our neighbours. Through itself was very comfortable, with an efficient shower, and the bathroom spotlessly clean. (The carpet could've done with a more thorough vacuum vacuuming.) Wi-Fi was excellent all during our stay (you get given a code, valid on multiple devices, each day).
Most of the staff were very nice, although the manager was a bit distant; on the Saturday, when we went for breakfast, she asked if we had booked a time slot. I said we had not, as we had not been asked to. She said we should've been asked when we were checked in, which we pointed out that she had done! (Booking is only necessary on Saturdays on Sundays.)
She tried to suggest that we come back 15 minutes later, despite the fact they were half a dozen tables empty. We pointed out we had to train to catch, and she eventually seated us. The empty tables remained empty while we were there... We then booked a time slot for the next day (Sunday) when the restaurant was rather busier (and so more understandable).
Most people opted for the full cooked breakfast option; I think we will next time, as the continental option was a bit limited. There were cereals, fruit, yoghurt, croissants, and bread for toasting with preserves. But there were no additions for cereal (i.e. no nuts, dried fruit or seeds), no cheeses, boiled eggs or cold meats.
They did seem a little bit understaffed at breakfast, with some of the tables remaining uncleared for quite a while after other guests had left. We also noticed that the reception wasn't always staffed, although there was a bell to summon a staff member. Cleaning staff were very amenable and helpful.
The other minor gripe was that the heating/cooling system was set for cooling only. This meant the room was a bit chilly when we arrived, although it did warm up while we were there.
So overall, not the best Premier Inn experience, but it did the job and we got it for a reasonable price (around £90 a night for two if us), and we would stay there agin if in the area. read more
