Our suite was so peaceful & equipped with anything we might need. Absolutely would stay here again anytime. Lots of things within walking distance.

I visited here for 1 night with my husband and we found many great things about this B&B. The…read morehusband and wife team who owns it are very friendly. The location is great; very short walk into the center of town. There were a total of 3 heaters in the room (1 of which is in the bathroom). It was very chilly when I arrived, and it was so nice to thaw out in a warm space. My room - the Victoria - was quite spacious and had very lovely artwork along the walls. Cute little couch, too. There is a small "lounge" with a computer and mini fridge. We didn't have breakfast, so I can't comment on the food. Wi-fi is available in the lounge, but the owner said it's availability in the rooms varied depending on location in the house. Our connection was pretty good on the ground floor. We had stayed 3 days at a neighboring B&B (Number One Guest House) and the difference was night & day. Churchill was superior in every way. Bit more expensive, but worth it. The reason for 3 stars is simply the bed. All I felt were the metal springs. So uncomfortable, creaky, and sloping toward the center. Whether an establishment is a hotel, B&B, guesthouse, etc. I feel the most important aspect is the bed. We're here to spend the night, yes? Then let's not keep using mattresses when they are years past their expiration date. Maybe the beds in the other rooms were better? I can only hope. Note on payment: Their website says Paypal is accepted, but upon arrival we were told cash only. Check out time is 10AM. Overall, I would recommend, but check the mattress before committing to a room. If they do upgrade the beds, I'd be happy to come back and update my rating to 5 stars :)

Fine place to stay but nothing amazing. I am assuming that the majority of people who stay here…read moreare being coming or going on a cruise, as I was. Check in can take forever and likely rooms will not be available early so don't plan on arriving early and having a room ready. Suitcases were basically taking up the entire small lobby. The elevator is tiny so be aware. If you want to eat at the restaurant make sure to make a reservation ahead of time because otherwise it will either be full OR they will tell you no that you can't eat here without one. The rooms are clean which is most important to me. Wonderful views of the beach and white cliffs from our room balcony. The cruise terminal is walk-able if you don't have mobility issues but it isn't super close so make sure to order a taxi well in advance.

The bar fish n chips was better than I had in Scotland or in Northern England. I highly recommend. Don't get the burger it was meh. The buffet breakfast that came with our room was delicious. Classic English breakfast with scrambled eggs, thick pork sausage, ham, hash brown, beans, mushrooms and fried tomatoes. Good coffee and plenty of pastries. Everyone that worked in hotel, restaurant and bar treated us very well. Good customer service.

Having watched the Great British Menu, we decided to try out the restaurant run by Charlie Lakin…read more It has a beautiful dining room, not too crowded but with a very good atmosphere. We had the rabbit (with douglas fir) and the pigs trotters to start. We loved the pigs trotters, they came with fried quails eggs and were delicious. The rabbit was very interesting and came both as a pate and smoked. We both had the beef, which was superb. It fell apart and was tasty and tender. The vegetables were cooked to perfection, with a gorgeous wild garlic mash and some of the best mushrooms I have ever tasted. The cheese board looked amazing, and they were kind enough to let us sample a piece of Lancashire Bomb cheddar, which was superb! It was a very busy (Thursday) night and the staff were obviously kept pretty occupied, but they still managed to be attentive (they noticed that our table wobbled and fixed it immediately) and very knowledgable. Would definitely go back!

The service was the perfect mix of semi-formal, friendly and attentive. The food was exactly what you want in fine dining. It was plated beautifully, had interesting flavor/texture combinations and tasted delicious. I recommend the lobster and crab salad, the rabbit and the lovely cheese cart. Attire: Business Casual to Dressy. I wore dress pants, a nice top and heels.
