There is a FQ building next door shuttered and it looks like this has station may have been booming in the day. I went to throw away trash but there were no garbage cans at the pumps. There were three garbage cans along side the building and all three were over flowing. On entering the building there was dirt and garbage all over the floor. Looked like it had not been swept For days. I wish I had brought my phone in with me for pictures. There were empty candy boxes sitting on the shelves. Two woman were sitting at the checkout counter. Looked like both were reading books. Sad as this place has potential but when you have two lumps on a log too lazy to do anything it shows. The younger of the two did say hello as I walked by ion my way to the restroom. Nothing was said and my husband and I walked out. We are traveling and my husband waited to wait to the last minute to fill up with gas. If I didn't have to use the restroom so bad I would have asked him to get gas and travel down the road a bit. I entered the woman's restroom with toilet paper all over the floor leading into the restroom. It smelled like sewer and all the toilets and sinks were badly stained brown like they haven't been cleaned in ages. I was afraid to sit down on the toilet and did my best imitation of squatting in the woods to pee without touching the seat. My husband said the men's restroom smelled like pee. Now, how bad can that be-you know they must not of been cleaned in ages. I can't believe this place has t been shut down by the health department. We were the only vehicle there at shortly after 10 in the morning. I don't usually advocate not giving a business your business but do not go here, unless it is just for gas and you don't mind using the field next door to do your business. In hindsight I'm pretty sure I have the right business I picked in Yelp as it showed me 0 minutes to get there and there was a Stuckys sign peeling away and a portion of the gas station closed what may have been the Stukeys store.

This place is right off the exit, so you barely have to convince your GPS to cooperate. The area is spotless, and the inside is a delightful surprise. Not only do they keep things sparkling, but they also have a cheese selection from the farm next door and an ice cream counter with farm-fresh scoops because who doesn't want to fill up on gas AND happiness? You'll also find sandwiches, a microwave for your culinary experiments, and all sorts of trinkets and classic gas station oddities. The staff? Friendly. I'll definitely make this a pit stop anytime I'm cruising up or down 65 North or South, this BP's got your back!

They sell all sorts of dairy-related products here, like ice cream (scoops in a cup or cone, as well as sundaes, floats, shakes and malts), cheese and milk. You'll also find local honey, baked goods, jams, Indiana wine, gifts and lots more. This convenience store is cozy and homey. There is a table with a couple of chairs near the ice cream counter, in case you want to eat your ice cream in the store. Otherwise, this is a grab-and-go kind of joint. Outside of the store is a free dog park that's also a part of Fair Oaks Farm. It's a good place to let your doggie run after a road trip while you enjoy your ice cream and snacks after you've filled up your fuel tank.

Don't cry for me, Argentina. This is basically my dream evening. Alone doesn't mean lonely for this little lady. I've got my opinions to keep me warm. Hashtag Favorite Valentines. After sitting in mind-numbing traffic for a 3-hour drive from the north shore, I started to get the 4th meal hunger pangs, but was dreading the thought of going out to eat on Valentine's Day and having to look at people who weren't stars of the show 'Oz', my current obsession, if yo haven't figured that out already. I decided to utilize the #3 speed dial on my phone and put in a take-out order at Downers Grove's Thai Cafe... only everyone else in the area had those same plans so instead of my order taking the typical 15 minutes, it was going to take 35. My plan was to wait it out in the strip mall parking lot and go in when could see my order come up through the window so I would have to talk to as few people as possible, but then I saw Downtown Food Mart just a storefront away in the same strip, and decided I'd spend my time in the rather dicey looking convenience mart in hopes of them having Takis, my favorite snack/breakfast, lunch, dinner food. I go in, and think, 'erm, this place is kinda set up like a crap hole.' Empty displays, weird non-stacking of 89 cent cat food cans that for whatever reason made my blood boil, and no Takis in the snack and chip aisle. What the hell? This place is NOT for anyone with a hint of OCD. I still had a good 15 minutes before my bulk Thai food order would be ready, so I decided to continue to peruse every aisle, and the more I looked, the more I liked. They had a pretty good selection of wine. It's over-priced, obvi, but pretty much all the wines are discount wines anyone so still nothing that'll break your bank. I was super pissed about the non-presence of Takis until I got to the marquee, front and center stand by the register that was chock full of Takis. Like, 4 different kinds, and all were super cheap at $1.39, compared to the $2.49 I'd pay at other grocery stores. Bada bing! I'm checking out and the guy behind the counter doesn't mention anything about the stupid non-holiday that's occurring, which I greatly appreciate, and instead asks if I like spicy stuff. Well, heck yes! I live for spicy! And then he proceeds to give me his spicy food recommendations and we swap ghost pepper stories for the next 5 minutes and part by exchanging names. His name is Raj. Raj is awesome. I will be back to purchase more Takis (possibly also overpriced wine and cat food if the hour is right) from Raj.
