I have been planning trips through Travel Wizards with the help of Dominique since 2019, not knowing until later that my son had previously arranged his wedding group travel plans with Dominique's assistance. He gave Dominique a glowing recommendation and I certainly agree. Her professionalism and expertise is top rate, as she has always provided all the detailed information we need to travel safe and secure - especially after the pandemic. Our trips are always seamless with Travel Wizards and I know they will stay that way in the future. Michelle C. read more

Review for Dominique Rhodes, travel agent from Travel Wizards in Burlingame, California Since 2005, we have been very satisfied with Dominique's travel planning services. She is a knowledgeable and experienced travel agent who has done a great job planning our many travels over the years. She not only just books tours through a tour company, but she also gives us travel advice and options in finding hotels, flights and airports transfers. She always has our best interests in mind. With her help, we are able to enjoy traveling with peace of mind. She is also very friendly, open minded, and caring. Dominique is a very responsive person and easy to work with. We are very happy with her services and would highly recommend her to anyone who is looking for a good travel agent. read more

Dominique Rhodes is one of a kind. She planned our trip to iceland and Egypt. She always reminds every single detail. She is a good record keeping. I called her several time about the charges and which credit card I used. She always return the calls and gave you the answer. I highly recommend her to be your agent. I will also refer her to my friends. Betty Wai read more

I have used Travel Wizards off an on since booking my honeymoon...17+ years ago. Magda is my "go to" for places I've never been and have no idea how to get around...or when there are just too many moving parts and I don't have the time to figure it out. When we had no idea where to go for our honeymoon, she suggested an all inclusive in St. Lucia, which was a very relaxing trip after planning a very large and hectic wedding. It was just what we needed. When I wanted to go on a cruise but felt very nervous (I get sea sick VERY easily), I went back to Magda to ask for her suggestions. This time around I wanted to visit Portugal, so she booked me on an 11-day tour with Trafalgar and arranged all the flights and transfers to and from the hotel. Every time I've used Travel Wizards, I was pleased with my trips and the attention to the detail that I've received. Magda reminds of the little details that need to get done before my trip, like choosing seats for my flights (- oops did I not do that?) and always has answers to all my travel questions such as, "Is there anything I can do to prevent getting sea sick?", "Do I need a visa?", "Should I exchange dollars for the local currency?" She and her staff are a wealth of knowledge. I just wish I could travel more! read more

Very disappointed in the service from this company. The agent, Andrea, was more interested in her personal travel then watching my reservations and advising me which caused me to lose money despite insurance when a medical condition caused a cancellation. I would NEVER use them again. I had been forewarned by another person. read more

Melissa and her team at Travel Wizards are wonderful. When the pandemic hit, she helped us cancel a trip overseas and regain all our money. A process which took months. When travel was open again we worked with her on a trip to Greece early May 2022. We ran into medical issues and she changed our trip and succeeded in getting the same airfare and a much nicer room on the ship. The amount of work Melissa and her team was over the top Travel Wizards response to calls and emails is quick and usually resolved with in a day. She not only books the flight and the (in our case) the ships she helps with excursions, water taxi's, transfers to and from airports, as well as any problem that may arise. Our trip to Greece was our 5th trip with Travel Wizards and we will continue to use Melissa as long as we can. They are a family company with family values. I highly recommend them for any of ones travel needs. read more

We have used Melissa and her team at Travel Wizards for 4+ international family trips. Needless to say we have been pleased with the service that we have received from them. My wife and I travel to Hawaii once or twice a year, we always try to maximize our dollars in every possible way, subsequently we try to travel with comfort but spending the least. Melissa was not only pleasant to work with but she found us an incredible price for our trip, the accommodations were fantastic and we had a great trip overall. I am now sharing my experience with my friends and telling them to make sure and talk to Travel Wizards if they want great service at a great price. read more

My husband and I booked our honeymoon to Indonesia through Melissa at Travel Wizards and had an amazing time! Reasons why they deserve 5 stars: 1. Melissa's responsiveness to emails and text is super quick. Appreciate this very much because leading up to the trip we had random questions to ask her and she always got back to us in a timely manner. 2. The booking process was very simple. We told Melissa what our budget was, what we were looking to do (adventure vs beach bum), and dates we wanted to travel. She said no problem and within a few days came up with three different itineraries for us to choose from with varying levels of activities to do. 3. Traveling to a foreign country is time consuming to research and daunting and Melissa took all the stress out of it. She took care of all the little details such as restaurant reservations, early hotel check in, room upgrades, setting up tours, private cars with a/c to pick us up everywhere, pick up and drop off at airports since we flew around Indonesia, etc. She even made us each a package with our flight tickets and itinerary info in a small cute bag which we could carry around while there! 4. She gave us great advice on what to pack (ex. best insect repellent), spas to try, food to eat, best form of communication to use while overseas, etc. She suggested we download WhatsApp and she gave us her cell # so we can reach her for anything while in Indonesia. This was perfect because our departure from SFO was delayed by an hour and we missed our connection in Singapore to Bali. We messaged Melissa on WhatsApp and she contacted the agency who was picking us up and let them know the new time we would arrive in Bali. 5. Melissa checked in with us prior, during, and even after our trip to see how things were going and if we needed anything. That truly shows how much she cares and invests in her clients to ensure the best level of service. Customer service from Travel Wizards is top notch; I HIGHLY recommend booking with them. We will continue to use them for future travel and have already recommended to our family and friends. read more

***UPDATE***notice how this company focuses on what is NOT RELEVANT to my call. Nor does it accept responsibility for providing such rude service. I like how rather than accomplishing an intentionally orchestrated passive aggressive reply along something a teenager would do, they simply highlight how I was honest, forward, (trying to be respectful of their time) and accountable towards my ignorance and wanting to learn on how to book the rest of my travel with them-since this is my first long trip internationally. Perhaps rather than failing at trying to save face and childishly, 'get the last word', they could make better use of their time and focus on what IS relevant to an inquiring client with bookings to fulfill.******** Called because a friend mentioned how awesome they were since I had a plan to trip through Asia and got a huge unnecessary attitude when asking about what this company does/how it works/it's benefit. I preface this with telling this dude I had never used a travel agency before and he gives me this "eeyyyeaaaahhhhhh that's kindaaa what we do heeereeeee..." I just apologized for ruining his day and hung up. What a #%^*'g A******. So not necessary lol. read more

We met Magda at Travel Wizards several months ago to plan our honeymoon. We wanted to go to a place where we would see clear waters, swim with stingrays, truly relax, and be away from a city's hustle and bustle. Initially my husband and I thought of perhaps the Caribbean, Thailand, or somewhere in French Polynesia (which we thought would be impossible since we heard that it was crazy expensive). After setting our honeymoon budget, Magda suggested Moorea in French Polynesia. Magda helped us book a 6 night stay at the Intercontinental where we were able to experience 3 nights in a garden bungalow with a private plunge pool, and another 3 nights in an over the water bungalow where we were able to snorkel right off of our deck. She arranged for all the transportation and transfers which included 3 legs from SFO (SFO to LAX, LAX to Tahiti, ferry to IC). Magda communicated very promptly with us throughout the planning process. She even made sure that we would get our honeymoon package with complimentary gifts! We appreciate Magda's help with planning an unforgettable honeymoon, especially with the transportation and transfers that would be needed, in addition to wanting to experience two different types of room. Thank you, Magda! We can't wait to reach out to plan our next trip! read more

First time using Travel Wizards and Melissa planned and organized our cruise from dates to what line we would enjoy. She chose Celebrity Cruises based on our conversations and scheduled everything for a perfect vacation. Her knowledge of the industry and the ship's itinerary made for a super week. A good travel agent from Travel Wizard. I seldom write reviews but when I find something or someone that is really good, I owe to the community to share what I have discovered -- the importance of a good travel agent. Especially, when you are in a situation. So, here it is. Dominique, from Travel Wizard, is my goto travel agent., we have worked with her for several years already. She is reliable, responsive and for air tickets, will give us several options with prices and routes to choose from. But what I also discovered is that she is there to help me out of situations. I had a situation after our Egypt trip in Dec 2022. When our plane landed in NY from Cairo, Dominique called to tell me that our flight from NY to Toronto was canceled due to a severe snow storm and the airport was closed. She asked me what I wanted to do. We decided to go home. So she quickly booked us on the next available flight to SF that leaves in 25 minutes. She instructed us to immediately go to the ticket counter and check in our baggages because the boarding gate was closing soon. The challenge was that from where we were to the ticket counter, we had to take an airport shuttle bus and then an inter terminal train. Anyhow, we managed to get to the gate just on time. The flight crew immediately closed the plane door after we boarded. Without Dominique, I cannot imagine how I will search on Expedia for the flight, book it and rush to the ticket counter. I am so happy to have Dominique as my travel agent and I also realize how useful and important to have her when I am in a situation. The icing on the cake was she contacted Air Canada and got a full refund for the tickets to Toronto. read more

Dominique Rhodes is amazing! I was introduced to her as the point person in planning of a school trip for our son. Dominique exudes the highest levels of competence and excellence. She is extremely responsive, and pro-active in her recommendations. She uses excellent judgment in making plans for your trip that you would expect. I reached out to her asking if she could help with transportation to and from the airport and she had it already covered. Expectations have been exceeded working with Dominique! Thank you thank you, for your care and your experience! read more

I first met Dominique Rhodes years ago, when she had been referred to me for planning a family trip to Disneyland. Since then, she has organized several five star holidays for our family, all around the world. She is always available, has great proactive ideas, and she really goes the extra mile for her clients. She has an innate sense for what each of my family members would and would not like. Once, when we were at a hotel in the Caribbean that was not delivering service as-expected, she immediately called the hotel manager over a weekend to rectify the situation for us, which we greatly appreciated because it took any stress out of our vacation. To help us when we were time-constrained, she has even hand-delivered documents to our home for us. Dominique really cares and delivers first class client service. read more

Just returned from a fantastic 14 day trip with 2 other couples that began in France and then to Amsterdam for our 7 day cruise with Viking with a stay over in Switzerland that was all arranged by Travel Wizards. Not only did they handle all the bookings of flights, hotels, transportation, tours, insurance and so on, it was all done on a very professional yet personal level by a wonderful woman named Magda . Our experience was so great that we are now in the process of booking our next adventure for 2020 with Travel Wizards. Thank you for making our trip a breeze read more

I felt compelled to write a review as we recently used Travel Wizards to book our honeymoon to Greece. We were fortunate enough to work with Angela Nielsen, who we were referred to by our friend (a retired event planning executive for Visa). Angela was great at planning our trip and handling all the details regarding flights, etc and figuring out our likes/dislikes (all within our budget). Her follow up and service was outstanding. She was very prompt in returning our calls and e-mail inquiries. I guess it comes down to who you work with. We would highly recommend Angela and plan to use her again for future trips. read more

This travel agency was strongly recommended by a friend who has been using them for years now. I left a message for Magda, the owner and she called me back the next morning! She was attentive, took detailed information (we needed her to book our honeymoon) and promised to call the very next day with a variety of quotes. That is where the good customer service ends. I was supposed to hear from her on Thursday but would have been OK to hear from her by Friday. By Friday afternoon, I called her and left a message. An assistant called me back, stating that Magda was very busy and would call me on Monday. That was a little bit of a turn off but I can understand if she was slammed with work. Monday came and I heard nothing. And that's how it went for the rest of the week. By the following Friday, I was ticked because this was not the (lack of) customer service I expected. I called and was told Magda was busy. I left a message asking her if she intended to work with us, one last ditch effort because she came so highly recommended. She never called me back. As I mentioned, my friend has had great luck with the Travel Wizards. But I cannot recommend their services. We ended up booking our honeymoon through Costco.com (and getting a great deal!) and booking our flights through priceline.com read more

So happy to have worked again with Travel Wizards. If I could give 10 stars to Kim A I would! Such a consummate professional, and easy, thorough person to work with. She helped me book a four country trip to Europe in May, which seemed daunting it terms of plane and hotel bookings: Kim made it simple. But more importantly, when my 20 year old daughter had a scooter accident in Rome and fractured her jaw, Kim was immediately available to (unfortunately) cancel two legs of the trip, and then found us a return flight home on the soonest date I had requested, so we could get my daughter medical treatment at home with our own doctors. What a huge relief that was in a very trying moment. The adage is, "If you like me now when things are going well, you'll really like me when things go wrong..." This couldn't be truer for Kim, and what a fantastic quality that is! Couldn't recommend her more highly. read more

On a dear friend's recommendation, we contacted Dominique Rhodes (ext. 24) at Travel Wizards in Burlingame to help us book our family's first cruise ever -- a 7 night cruise in the Western Caribbean. Dominique was amazing! She helped us "navigate" through the different options and cruise lines available. We had our hearts set on Royal Caribbean, and she helped us find the right package that suited our needs. She helped us book rooms that were relatively adjacent, got us into the right dining time, and gave us sound advice on booking excursions. What's more, Dominique would follow up with us periodically to make sure that we had all of our other arrangements booked properly, reminded us about excursions, and made sure we got all of the materials we needed to board the ship on time. I can't recommend Dominique and Travel Wizards enough!! Thanks so much for helping us forge memories with our kids that will last a lifetime! read more

My husband and I booked a Viking River Cruise with Melissa. We had always wanted to cruise the Rhine River but we weren't sure which cruise line to travel with. Melissa was wonderful! She reviewed the various options with us and after much consideration, we decided on Viking. We decided to extend our vacation beyond the 7 day cruise and stay two extra nights in Amsterdam and Basel. Melissa booked us in two beautiful hotels that were near all of the best sightseeing locations. She gave us tips on museums, tours and restaurants. She also booked our flights and helped us with the purchase of travel insurance. Our trip went very smoothly and we had an amazing time thanks to Melissa! She sincerely cared about every detail of our trip and made recommendations based on our interests and preferences. Melissa is extremely professional but also very warm and personable. We highly recommend you call Travel Wizards when you are planning your next trip and ask to speak with Melissa. We're already booking another river cruise - this time on the Danube! read more

I don't travel as much as I used to and what with the interwebs and all one can book a flight or two that way. However, studies have shown that in most cases travel agents can get you a better deal. Enough of the public service announcement. (Disclaimer: I used to sell corporate travel and was a flight attendant.) Recently I was tasked to assist my nephew in getting his children for a summer visit when he came in from his contract job in Africa. The itinerary was complex and last minute. Leslie Courts bent over backwards to help me make arrangements that are too crazy to even go into. She was keenly aware of the time sensitivity and the fact that he was traveling with two young children. Jim in their accounting office was professional and pleasant requesting the necessary information for ticketing. They've been around for years even in this internet age and there's a reason for that. I've also used Angela to book my honeymoon travel and she was wonderful too. Point being everyone they are experienced in the ways of travel booking. Suffice to say, every time I've used Travel Wizards I have always felt the $35 fee for ticketing was the best money (and not nearly enough) I have ever spent. read more

We had a great time our AMAWaterways trip to Vietnam and Cambodia, in spite of the hot and humid weather. As expected, AMAwaterways took good care of us, from meeting us around 11PM at the airport, to getting us back for our 7:30 AM return flight. I was most impressed with the variety of things we saw on this trip: we visited villages and homes in both Vietnam and Cambodia, saw temples and monasteries in both countries, and learned a lot about the history and conflicts in both countries. We vIsited detention/prison facilities in both countries, as well as the killing fields in Cambodia and Viet Cong hideouts in Vietnam. We even had one of our guides facilitate a tuk-tuk trip for me and Paul to go geocaching while the rest of the group shopped in the market in Cambodia. Perhaps a highlight was the 2 days/1 night we spent on a separate ship on HaLong Bay. What a special place! I would recommend this trip to anyone who has not done it. read more

The Galapagos Islands was a "Bucket List" adventure for us, and the plan was to go in 2022. Melissa knew this and invited us to an intro meeting with Celebrity to check out the new ship - Flora (a ship dedicated to the Galapagos Islands). All this in preparation for 2022. By the end of the intro meeting we looked at each other and said "YES!" We finished the trip on December 23rd and of the 17 cruises we have been on, it was the best! All we anticipated and expected were exceeded not only by the cruise line, but by our travel agent. Melissa and the team at TW responded to every question and request we made...including a couple of last minute changes. We have used TW for the past 5 or so years and will continue to rely on their expertise and attention to detail to help with our travel needs. read more

This was the worst experience using this travel agency. Beware!!! They are friendly at first but does not take accountability for their mistakes and takes forever to resolve after many followup phone calls to correct the issues. The names on the documents were incorrect even after handing them our passports twice. The connecting flights over lapped so we would have never made our connecting flights if I hadn't reviewed my travel documents. I was taking my parents to Europe for their first time. No apologies for countless mistakes they had made and even worse blaming a third party vendor. I couldn't cancel without a penalty so I had to be endure at their mercy that they would do the right thing. It was a simple trip to Italy. Throughout this process it caused a great amount of stress and we booked a year ahead of the date of departure. The issue of the name corrections were resolved 72 hours before scheduled departure. One word unprofessional. read more

We're so glad we used Travel Wizards - Magda's assistance was unparalleled and customized a honeymoon to fit our needs! Our honeymoon in Thailand and Bali was FANTASTIC! It was a perfect balance of being able to see the cultures and learn about the religion, people, food, etc. but also provided us sufficient down-time to recharge our batteries by the beach. We've never been on a trip where we had private tour-guides at our disposal; it made us feel like we've really missed out before on visiting other countries in not being able to ask all the questions / get all the background information to truly understand the places and cultures we've visited. The tour guides in Thailand and Bali were absolutely fantastic - we definitely want to go this route for all our future international travels. The places in which we stopped gave us a good balance (of temples, outdoor/activities, scenic places, shopping, etc.). The highlights on activities definitely included snorkeling, white-water rafting, and a cooking class. Needless to say, the drivers saved our lives (literally); we couldn't have imagined getting around safely otherwise. The accommodations in Thailand were absolutely spectacular - at each place we stayed, we felt like we were in a mansion or private villa and got significant honeymoon room upgrades at each instance . The accommodations in Bali were also great (high end equivalent to US hotel), but I think the Thailand hotels were a step beyond. After this experience, I think it's going to be really difficult to go back to how we've been vacationing before. We really look forward to working with Magda and Travel Wizards on our next international vacation! To Magda: Thank you again for all your hard work and bearing with us for the back-and-forth -- we truly got a customized honeymoon we'll never forget. read more

I am very much one of those people who like to book my own travel. I do a lot of independent backpacking type trips abroad and finding the best places to visit is part of the adventure for me. However, when I travel to somewhere specific, like say, Disneyworld, I turn to the people who know how to find the best deals fast. A few years ago I worked with Magda and just recently I worked with Dominique. Both of my experiences were positive. I gave them my very specific criteria and they found me exactly what i was looking for. I did a bunch of my own research and with this trip Dominique got me the best deal at Universal, way better than anything i could find on my own. We did all of our communication through email and phone which was convenient for me. Payment was easy and my travel documents came right on time. I have nothing but praise for the ladies at Travel Wizards and I look forward to using them in the future. read more

I would not recommend using this service. I recently returned from my first big trip in another country (Thailand) after using Travel Wizards. I was reluctant to plan the trip on my own since I was going for two weeks and had never booked something this big before. My boyfriend and I wanted to travel the country from top to bottom, so there were several moving pieces. I did a quick yelp search for a travel agent in my area and this is the first company that popped up. There were great reviews and so I gave Magda a shot. Booking with her was a bit off to say the least. She kept forgetting details and communicating with me in all caps over email. She wasn't following the direction that I wanted but decided that since she did so much work I would just go with it and see how the trip went. After getting there and doing research on the hotels that we were at we saw that the prices were dirt cheap but we had paid significantly higher through the travel agency. She knew that we were a couple staying in a room together and our room at one hotel ended up having twin beds. When I lost something she acted very annoyed to help me (I don't speak the language or have contact with the places booked, she did - so I obviously needed help). Magda even accidentally forwarded me an email during the time essentially saying to someone: it's her problem, have her call around. Wow! That bag I lost cost me $2,500 and she wasn't happy to help me. One of the drivers through the partnership they have there actually crashed a car that I was in while I was there. Overall I had fun but would recommend that you save your money and book your own trip or use another agency. It wasn't worth the additional funds to go through this company. Maybe if the trip was planned better or the customer service was better. Stay away! read more

I don't usually call a travel agent, but I needed to book a flight for my kids to travel to camp, and I was unsure of all of the details and prices. Dominique at travel wizards helped so much. Not only did she know the ins and outs of the differences between airline policies on minors, but she was able to save me considerable money (and time!) because she knew the prices for baggage on each airline. It turned out that the airline that seemed the cheapest through my research was not even close to te best way for us to go. read more
