So many different trails. A very easy paved 0.4 mile loop hike, gravel path hikes, and of course, rough dirt hikes. Potential flooding, especially after a huge winter. Stay on the trails, as many paths have natural erosion. Stay safe. There used to be a fish hatchery here, see website. Not sure if it closed...? Also lots of wildlife; again, stay safe - Coyotes, bobcats, mule deer, black beers (we get this at the house also, LOL), mountain lions, rodents (too many to name), bats, birds, reptiles, etc. Atmosphere - Visitor center may be small, but they are packed full of information. Also cool decor, see pictures. There are also campsites, BBQ, picnic areas, volleyball courts, horse shoe, clean bathrooms, and plenty of parking (cars, RVs, buses, etc). There is even a stage in Eagle Meadows for events. Open 7 days a week from 7am to 7pm (hours are also seasonal, see website). Clean bathrooms throughout the different parking lots and camp sites. Horse trails and minimum bike trails, see picture. Visitor center; it was actually open today. Thank you volunteers. Last time we were here was during the winter; what a difference with the seasons. My kids chose the 2-hour Class C - 20 feet open Bow Speed Boat ($478). I thought we would have a driver with us to take us out but no.... They showed my kids how the boat operates, took us out to the open water, and let us loose! There was eight of us on board. It was beautiful out on the water, with the rocking waves, and beautiful scenery and sky. But not when you have my kids driving it like a race car on water. We were rocking like crazy and we all got wet. Especially my grandchildren sitting at the front, who were drenched! I told my kids to slow down, but they say, "he said we could floor it." OMG!! The kids had to put on life jackets and the adults were told there are emergency life jackets on board. Well, with my kids enjoying what the boat can do, I threw on my life jacket! I admit, my kids are very responsible drivers on land. They had so much fun driving the boat in the wide open lake. As scared as I was of possibly being overtaken by waves or capsizing, it was an amazing experience, and it felt so good out there. Absolutely beautiful!! I really enjoyed it, and the staff were great. They know exactly what they're doing. The water started to get kind of choppy, so we ventured back towards the shore after an hour, called them on the radio, and staff came out on a dingy to help dock the boat so that we can safely get out. I am so glad I went on this excursion. If you love the water and drifting up and down with the waves, this is a must try!

A few pointers: 1) If you book a single kayak, you will still use a double kayak. You will just be by yourself. I'm older and don't kayak often, so this was a little challenging. I had expected a one-person kayak. They did offer to pull me or have the boat pick me up if I got tired. I made it through without assist, but it's easier if you have someone to paddle with you. 2) The water is normally calmer in the mornings, so book the early tour if possible. 3) They take a pic of you in your kayak in the water, which is super nice. The creek and lake are easy to access, with an almost entirely flat trail that's great for all ages. Lots of beaver dens, pretty fall trees, and other wildlife to enjoy along the way. The park rangers are super knowledgeable and happy to chat about the trails and animals that call this place home. Definitely worth a visit! Side note:You might come expecting to see the salmon run, but nature doesn't always run on our schedule!

We arrived around 10:30 AM and finished by 11:30 AM, so it's a nice, short hike that doesn't take up your whole day. Parking was easy, with plenty of spots available. We visited in July (summer), and the mosquitoes were intense, especially near the swampy areas definitely wear mosquito repellent. Also worth noting: the swamp area has a strong smell, so if you're sensitive to odors, that's something to be aware of. We'd recommend avoiding lingering near the water. Overall, a great, low-effort trail for families or anyone looking for a relaxed walk just come prepared for bugs and smells in the summer.
