We had an outstanding experience with Family Matters, and I wanted to share this review because…read morethis is what exemplary care should look like. My 75-year-old mother underwent necessary brain surgery three weeks ago. Three days before surgery, she had a ground-level fall, tore her rotator cuff, and sustained a small fracture. Because the surgery could not be deferred, she proceeded as planned but required significant care at home afterward. She had been fully independent, and although she lives with my father, the caregiving needs were beyond his comfort level. I was able to help for a few days after her discharge, but it was clear they would need additional support for her to remain safely at home. The hospital nurses were wonderful, but my mom needed assistance even with basic tasks like repositioning in bed and using the restroom, as her left arm was immobilized. Our hospital care coordinator connected us with Amy, the client care manager for Family Matters, who met us at home right away. She performed a thorough evaluation and took the time to understand my parents' needs and preferences. Almost immediately, we were connected with KJ, the Director of Operations, who coordinated the caregiving schedule. She ensured an excellent match with caregivers and that coverage was consistent and reliable. Communication was seamless--KJ was always responsive and proactive with updates, and we never felt out of touch. My mom especially wanted to recognize her primary daytime caregiver, Maria. Maria was attentive, warm, and incredibly experienced, with over 20 years in caregiving. She is also an excellent cook and was especially skilled in helping my mom with more vulnerable tasks like showering. The other caregivers who supported nights and weekends were also wonderful. The team clearly put thought and care into matching personalities and backgrounds, which made a meaningful difference. Over the following weeks, my mom gradually regained her independence, and we were able to scale back care smoothly. The team made adjustments easy and seamless. We would absolutely use Family Matters again. This was our first experience with a caregiving service, and we were initially apprehensive, but they made the entire process easy, supportive, and reassuring. We would use them again in a heartbeat.

I've only left a handful of Yelp reviews, but after such a positive and heartfelt experience with…read morethe Family Matters team, I felt they deserved recognition. During a very difficult time for our family, their staff was exceptional... extremely well coordinated, thoughtful, and empathetic. They could not have made more suitable choices about who spent time with our family and attended to our mother's needs. The level of care and flexibility was perfect as our 86 year old mother needed to recover from a major surgery among other significant health concerns. This was especially important to me as I don't live locally right now, so this gave my brothers and I peace of mind. I had the pleasure of working directly with James, who proactively visited our home and made excellent suggestions for equipping my mother's residence with cost-effective accessibility equipment (at no financial benefit for their company). He was readily available whenever an issue arose and went well beyond what we expected from a service like this. If you're looking for care for someone you love, I strongly encourage you to explore what Family Matters offers. When circumstances are already difficult to bear, having a service you can genuinely trust makes an enormous difference.

It has been a terribly difficult and traumatic time for our family, as we have all been adjusting to a new sense of normal, while learning to care for him, and trying to preserve our mother's energy, as much as possible. Luckily for us, Amity was the agency of choice recommended by the Case Manager at the hospital. Peggy, Hazel, and a few others came to help us within a few days, asking about our perspective of his condition, his history, and needs while patiently going over his records with us, and examining him. It didn't take them long to organize the help my dad needed, and to start coming. In this very difficult time, it was refreshing to feel totally supported, encouraged, and to regain hope again for his plan for improvement since leaving the hospital. Peggy, taught us new ways of doing things to lessen the complications my dad had been experiencing. Hazel came everyday to tend to his wounds, which developed mostly during the hospitalization period. Both Peggy and Hazel were always reliable, and we looked forward to their guidance. Peggy went through my dad's medications and looked for discrepancies, to ensure my dad's medications were being given accurately. She made some discoveries, which helped us to make some corrections. I know many people don't have a lot of faith in agency services, but I honestly feel if it were not for Amity, my father would not still be alive with us today, with such improvements. As a result of Peggy and Hazel coming to help us, our family is getting to enjoy as quality and as normal a life as possible, with my father. I highly recommend Amity Home Health for your needs.
