Osteria del Bugiardo was located in a good area so we made our way over to this wine bar. Service (2.5/5): Confusing system. There was a wait for a table but no hostess outside. We eventually talked to someone and she said that while there's no list, she will remember our faces and let us know when a table is ready. Not the most efficient system but we waited about 10 minutes to be seated at the bar. Our waiter took care of us pretty well after we got in. Ambiance (3.5/5): Your typical wine bar. Nice ambiance. The only downside for me is that seating at the bar consisted of bar stools. Without back support. Which I have always hated and which hurts my back. It's also pretty tight in there when they're at capacity. Drinks (4/5): Since this is a wine bar, you know what to order. We had glasses of rose. Not the heaviest pour but the price was solid. If you're not looking for wine, they also have things like Aperol Spritz. Food (4/5): You won't find hearty fare here but you will be able to munch on a lot of small plates. I'm talking things like mini sandwiches, croquettes, meatballs, salads, etc. Which is exactly what we did. We shared a couple of tapas between the two of us. It was filling and did the job. I wasn't stuffed but it was good and on the healthier side. Overall: Osteria del Bugiardo is one of the most popular restaurants on Yelp in Verona and it's located in the heart of the city.

A true gem, with a great wine list! Don't miss the limoncello!

The service is prompt, attentive and genuine like usually is here in Italy. We have ordered a "focaccia sale, olio e rosmarino" (salt, olive oil and rosemary focaccia) as an appetizer. As main course we had the following: - pizza with spicy salame, gorgonzola and onion; - pizza with spicy salame, anchovies, black olives and Parmesan cheese; - roast beef and coleslaw. We have completed the dinner with a freshly cut pineapple and a "sorbetto al caffè". Food came fast and was of high quality. The restaurant has an excellent price/quality ratio. Highly recommended.

The dining room was filled with people eating quickly so they could head down the street to the opera. We sat on the two chairs on the sidewalk in front of the window. We slowly drank a glass each of Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva whole we watched the well dressed Veronese head to the opera. Great people watching and great wine -- the best we drank in Italy. If we had had another night in Verona we would have returned for dinner. BTW L'Orologio means "the clock." The restaurant is located by the clock in the city walls, hence the name. Did I mention how wonderful the Amarone is? Deep, rich, complex red wine from Veneto.

Our food tour stopped in here where we enjoyed some delicious primi platti (first course) meals…read more The interior is a beautiful restaurant with lots of light and exposed stone walls. It was quiet when we arrived at noon and then filled up quite a lot by the time we departed. Clearly, a restaurant for the locals. First course, a big pile of a pasta called "bigolini" which I've not seen before. It is like thick spaghetti with a rough surface. That is needed because the sauce on it was quite thick and another interesting taste - nettles. Definitely different. Second course, risotto made with a red wine reduction. Very flavorful and rich and the pasta was perfectly al dente. We'll definitely need to return to here for dinner! [Review 16980 overall - 185 in Italy - 496 of 2022.]

The restaurant is very cute (free WiFi) and homey feeling with an exposed brick interior and interesting decoration choices throughout the space. If you're so inclined there's also and outdoor patio area. Maybe we just ordered poor menu items but the food was underwhelming and not particularly standout. For our anti pasta course we went with the cured meat trio with polenta. The meats weren't particularly good and combined with the bland polenta it just wasn't a good combo. For our primi pasta course we had the bigoli in a horse (yes horse) bolognese sauce. Of our three dishes this was the best. For our main meat course with did horse cheeks braised in an Amarone wine sauce with polenta. I didn't like the polenta any better on our second dish and the cheek just didn't do it for me. I ended up leaving the bulk of the dish uneaten. All in all-maybe I just ordered poorly but I if I ever make it back to Verona this spot will be a pass for me.
