The food here is very delicious. We had the mixed appetizer combo with seafood for 2 people which was very large (anchovies, cheese/meat, fried calamari, beans, etc) and I had the pignata pasta as well. However, the service as others have mentioned leaves a lot to be desired. Our meal started off with an offer of prosecco in small cups from the staff that very much seemed complimentary, but in fact was charged on our bill. Also, the staff requested us to change our order of mussels/clams citing no availability although we saw plates coming out for other guests. Finally, they forced us to order the same dishes as our tablemates although we did not see such pressuring at other tables. read more

Whoa. After reading the yelp reviews, we chose to go here for dinner. I thought I knew what was going on, but I didn't. First off, there is no menu. We were seated and just sorta sat there until the waiter came to talk to us with his limited English. He asked if we wanted the antipasto. We asked what was in it. "Fish and meat," he replied. So we said yes. This is what we actually said yes to: - Octopus salad - Prosciutto and mozzarella - Little neck clams in a sauce - Some kinda flower stuffed with ricotta and deep fried - Bruschetta - Fried anchovies - Fried zucchini sticks, I think - Anchovies in olive oil - Assortment of fried carbs - potatoes balls, rice balls, chewy flour balls - Scallop something - Octopus in tomato soup - Bean and sausage soup - Bread Everything was delicious and we were so stuffed that it hurt. Seemed like all the locals around us had gotten the exact same order of antipasto - be it another group of 2 or a family table of 10, we all had the same plates coming out. Our total bill for 2 was 25 Euros. Service charge of 1.5 Euros each. Antipasto 10 Euros each. Water 2 Euros. They take credit cards. read more

A bit hard-to-find but close to city center. A truly wonderful Neapolitan experience with the initially gruff service which becomes your best friend by the end of the evening. The 10 euro Antipasti, with about 11 plates of food may be one of the best bargains anywhere, with your fill of smoked salmon, pickled anchovies, octopus, prosciutto, and other local specialties. Bucatini vongole with green-lip mussels and littleneck clams, all surpassingly fresh was a wonder. You'll have a good chance of an itinrerant film star serenade you at some point. Pair it with a carefully selected and extensive and reasonably-priced wine list, and you get a memorabel evening, Naples at its best. read more

The service at Trattoria 'A Pignata is just barely acceptable, but the food is good enough to justify eating here. You'll just need to bear in mind that it's not really a full-blown restaurant; it's more of a café. As long as you manage your expectations accordingly, you should be good. With your expectations well managed, I would be surprised if you very much enjoy your meal. I especially recommend the mixed anti pasta; you'll find it both delicious and very filling. Tip: Have your fill of antipasti before you order your entrée - they keep bringing it in waves, and it's very difficult not to fill up on it completely. read more

The food tasted decent, and the portions were fine. Also, the prices were reasonable. Even though the food was fine, I didn't have a good experience at the restaurant. The staff wasn't very welcoming and didn't smile at us one single time. Througout our whole visit, they just rushed past us and almost threw the food at our table. It was hard to communicate with the staff, and even though I asked for some oil and balsamico twice, they didn't serve it to us. They just kept going around like we never asked. It's not the end of the world, but as a guest at a restaurant, or any other place, I expect to get served what I request. Fine if they dont have anymore of the wished product, but at least just tell... again: communication. The didn't come to our table another 20 minutes after we finished our meal, so we had to contact the staff inside the restaurant to pay for our meal. The service at this restaurant is very poor, and it's sad that it pulls down the whole experince of going there and eating their food. I will not come back, and can not recommend going here either. read more

Mamma Mia we order three different kind of pasta of all theme was amazing, chef original Italian guy, Italian flavor 100%. I recommend it you will not be disappointed, also ask for vino rosso de l'casa (house wine) really good; three entrees, bottle water, bottle wine two deserts 50 euros not bad read more

Our tourist family of four looked for non-tourist restaurant off the beaten path and found it with Pignata. The place was bustling with local families with one table represented by three generations and their well behaved dog under the table. We overcame minor language barriers (we are linguistically challenged) and enjoyed excellent seafood and pasta dishes at very reasonable prices. The staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. It was very busy, somewhat laud, delicious and exceeded our expectations. read more

I always like to start with something positive, the dishes of my friends were good, but they have eaten better. Mine was not good at all!! The service was the worst, waiters were rude, there were 5 of them doing nothing and they were incapable of serving us. We had to ask for the bill 3 times. Well sure enough, we went here last night....and like many other reviews, half of the tables were empty but they had no room for the two of us. We were well dressed and early in the evening at 7:30. They said we could come back at 11:00. Right. Who wants to wait another 3 1/2 hours to eat when they intended to eat at 7:30 or so. They also were not particularly nice about it either. We ended up going to Pizza E Baba right around the corner. The waiters were nice, welcoming and engaged. The place does a ton of take out pizza so they must have a good reputation with the locals. If a restaurant does not want to serve tourists they should make that easy. It gives us a BAD taste about the businesses. I guess if you get in this is a great place...... read more

This little place in the Spanish quarter is definitely my favorite non-pizzeria in Naples. We went here with a group of about ten. They don't have any menus, they just give tell you the specials, and that's what you have. Our waiter started by asking us if we wanted antipasto. When we asked what it was, he said "fish and meat." We shrugged and said yes. Then, for the next hour, plate after plate of all sorts of different dishes kept arriving at our table: octopus, squid, shrimp, crocche (like fried mashed potato), anchovies, little meatballs in a great sauce, mozzarella and procuitto, cow stomach... and everything (even the pretty crazy stuff) tasted amazing! After about an hour and a half, the waiter came back and asked if we wanted a second plate. We thought it was crazy this even existed, and asked him what was in it. He started to list more foods - steak, fish, etc. - and was not surprised when we opted out. And to top it all off - all of that amazing food, plus water and house wine - came out to 10 euros per person. read more
