Trash Talk is correct. The cook made a derogatory statement about my son's hat that had to do with America. He continued his negative rhetoric about America. You would think a customer who is going to purchase food would be treated better. The cook was obnoxious and the food was even worse. read more

As someone who grew up in Buffalo, just an hour away from Rochester, it was quite the surprise running into this food truck. It had been years since I've had a garbage plate, and it really hit the spot. The name itself isn't the most appealing for sure, but this triggers a nostalgic part of the brain that will never get old and tasted pretty much the way I remember it. Price wise - yeah it's going to be a bit more than normal, but it's a food truck so it's fairly in line with any other food truck I've seen. read more

An OK meal at this food truck. Pre-ordered online, food read on time and piping hot. The Buffalo chicken salad features mixed greens topped with sliced buffalo chicken breast, topped with shredded cheese, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, onions, and bacon, dressed with ranch dressing. The chicken is moist and flavorful, greens crisp and fresh. Nothing special, it's good. Also tried the hamburger. This is a single patty with cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, mustard, ketchup and trash sauce. Fries on the side. Trash sauce reminiscent of Big Mac sauce. It is a good burger, but nothing special. Fries are crinkle fries, crispy and hot, nicely salted. Jalapeño poppers were fried crispy and stuffed with cream cheese and a mild jalapeño. These were OK, too. Not a bad meal, also not a great meal. Just OK. read more

Not a meat eater, but the bean burger was awful. The "burger" was cooked to death, and absolutely nothing on the burger. Don't waste your money. read more

Rochester, NY specialty plate. The plate is exactly the way it sounds because of the way it looks. It is not pretty, healthy or vegetarian. The idea is yummy sides, toppings and proteins all layered into the togo container. Macaroni salad, potatoes, burger patty or hotdog, topped with chili and mustard, onion, etc. Some of my time in Rochester, NY has given me some knowledge of the plate. I have seen a little more variety on potato option's but over all it was good. Very filling when you want something hearty. Also excellent hangover food. We were missing the cheese on our 2 juicy thin beef burger patties. Chili had no beans and was the top topping, it helped keep the square potato's crispy. Local business also has new stand alone store open in Apex - Peak City Hots. read more

Trash Talk - NY in NC - Food Trucks Near Me

Not a fan of the name of this food, but I get that it has some appeal with what it represents and for the simplicity of it all. Trash Talk food truck markets itself as serving the "Trash Plate" (others in line behind me called it a garbage plate) "from Rochester, NY." It's not as bad as it sounds. I came across it at a local brewery, a nearly perfect pairing as it reminded me of something my friends and I might have had after a night of partying. The concept is simple: pick the meat - burger or red or white-hot dog and then, for this food truck -- it's put on top of macaroni salad and fries and then topped with mustard, onions, and a meat sauce. I couldn't bring myself to load up on that much starch, so I opted for the simpler trashed home fries, which is exactly as it sounds: fries with onions, mustard, ketchup, and the meat sauce. The fries were small cubes instead of the long, traditional shaped fries, and that worked for a less messy meal and a taste of all the flavors in each bite. The namesake dish is one I'll leave to those from the northeast to better describe. Although I didn't try the signature dish, what I did try was good. Still not a fan of the name, though. read more

I hate to say this but I'm not a fan. This is a food truck, so this review is heavily weighted on the food. The minimal interaction with the lady taking my order was pleasant, but things quickly went down hill. The food came out fast - too fast... It was less than a minute. I was a little worried, and for good reason. Just as I had suspected, the food was cold. I ordered trash fries, and after listening to a friend from Rochester talk-up garbage plates for the last decade+, I could hardly contain my excitement. Boy, was I disappointed. The crinkle cut fries were cold. They were topped with something similar to canned chili without beans, only more bland. There were a few raw onions mixed in, finished with a drizzle of mustard and ketchup. Just below the top layer lay a mess of soggy, greasy, cold, sad fries. It was such a disappointment. We only had a couple bites each, and into the trash it went. Overall, this food truck lives up to its name... Trash. read more

At the last Friday Night on White Street in Wake Forest. Was looking forward to the trash fries until the guy in the orange Stussy shirt vaped all over the food. Not sure if it was that or if the food was really lacking in flavor. Not impressed. read more

The Trash plate is legit.... Tasted just like home. My only issue is the portion size. It's too small. For $14 it's too small guys. I KNOW you know the TRUE portion size to a garbage plate. Times are rough right now. Please don't skimp out....that was the only thing that disappointed me. And if you guys want to make more money in NC... I recommend being near a wegmans. More than half the employees around wegmans down here are from Rochester. And so many new employees have heard about want to try the plate!! I had to drive 38 mins to you guys! Come out near Raleigh. You will not be disappointed with your sales. But please.... Work on the portion size. It's just too small. A real trash plate would be filled over the rim like a mountain. They don't call this the hangover plate for nothing. read more

Trash Talk - Cheeseburger plate - Food Trucks Near Me

As a Rochester native living in the Triangle, there are 3 things I miss the most- garbage plates, DiBellas subs, and Wegmans. Soon we will have Wegmans (and their DiBellas-like subs) and today I tried the infamous Trash Talk Food Truck to get 1 step closer to complete happiness. When I heard about Trash Talk, I was hesitant because the plate had to be perfect and I couldn't bear to be disappointed with such a well loved delicacy. First, I looked up their social media accounts to check them out. Sure, the photos looked good but I needed to try it to be sure. When I heard they were stopping at a local brewery today, I knew it was time to take a leap of faith. We ordered 2 cheeseburger plates to-go for the family. It smelled so heavenly and authentic that I couldn't wait to get home. As soon as I walked in the door, everyone was so eager to try it and immediately grabbed their forks. The first bite was magical and brought us all back to Rochester. The Mac salad was perfect. The home fries are slightly smaller than usual, but I actually prefer the smaller ones because of the light crispy texture on the outside. The burger patties were perfectly cooked and they used the true white American cheese instead of the yellow one. The meat sauce is legit... the right seasoning, texture, and not too cinnamon-y. They even use Zweigles hot dogs for the hot dog plates!! The only major difference is that they do not serve the crusty bread and butter; however, this is a non-factor for us because we always ended up throwing it out. These folks definitely put blood, sweat, and tears into making their plates authentic, and they did not disappoint. Once Wegmans opens up down here, the Triangle will truly be the best place to live. read more

Trash Talk - This food is legit!! - Food Trucks Near Me

Born & raised in Rochester, I was so excited and know that my standards are high, but this was such a huge disappointment. This was not good. I got the combo plate with cheeseburger patty and 1 zweigles white hot. My husband, the hot dog plate with fries. We were standing right there and waiting, but only the fries were hot. The Home fries are frozen & tiny, the hot sauce is not hot. The burger was flat & dry, the Mac salad was just elbow Mac noodles & Mayo. Period. Maybe the brick/mortar store in apex is better, but I wouldn't even give that a try. Not a good experience overall. read more

Drove about 45 min or so to get a taste of home and I was not disappointed! I grew up near Rochester, in Brockport, and the plate was about as close to the original Tahou's plate as it gets. Great mac salad and home fries and the meat sauce was spot on, albeit a little less spicy than the plates I remember. Missing the bread, as others have mentioned, but no big deal. My wife says she would add beans to the fries+mac duo, if possible. Overall, fantastic and very authentic! A great garbage plate all around. The owner was very pleasant to talk to as well. Definitely going to come again! read more

I think these guys provide a very unique experience to this area. You can tell from the other reviews that this is a very niche truck. I could imagine if I were from Rochester, I would be ecstatic to see this in the Triangle. I ordered the combo trash plate (included the hot dog & hamburger) and was actually impressed. My wife was a little less so, but that's ok.... I thought the chili was the best part by far! I would eat that chili out of a cup by itself. It reminded me a bit of Skyline chili. I wonder if they use lots of curry powder in it. I thought it was amazing how everything worked so well together. I even liked the macaroni salad, and I never like macaroni salad. Also, it's a freaking sh*tload of food!! Anyways, if I saw this truck again (and I happened to not be with my wife at the time), I would definitely eat there again. Especially if I happened to be a few beers deep... Perfect drinking food. read more

Underwhelming is quite the understatement. My husband got one of the plates - we aren't from Rochester so maybe that's why we didn't think it was anything to write home about. Kiddos got a cheeseburger that had us wishing it was McDonalds instead and my chicken sandwich was an overpriced large chicken nugget on a plain bun with nothing at all on it - no pickle, nothing. Would never eat here again, what a waste of money. read more

As a former Rochesterian, I was elated the first time I saw this truck. I was at a ceremony for a development plan in the Holly Springs area by Bass Lake. I immediately regressed to my 20 year old self and got what I always got which is cheeseburg plate all French fry, with everything. My first bite took me back and immediately destroyed the plate with a quickness. It was every bit as good as how I remembered. Though the owner was from my hometowns rivaling neighbor (Webster), her and her husband made my year. Oh and I also bought a second plate and ate that too. So effing good So now I crashed an elementary schools festivities just so I could get my hands on another plate. I do not think that anyone who hasn't grown up in Rochester truly understands its magnitude. Just like how North Carolinians don't understand eastern style BBQ. So anyone that gives this truck a poor review, just understand one thing. It's not for you. So don't take time out of your day to write a one star review because you can't handle greatness. Five stars forever for this truck, and those curious and or brave enough to put this much salt, grease, and starch in your body just understand you are the true champion. Not the person writing the one star review because they couldn't finish their plate. read more

Longgggg wait when hardly any line. Got food on a Wednesday night at a brewery. I ordered a plain cheeseburger and fries, waited about 20 minutes. Fries were fresh. Standard crinkle fries which are good but nothing to write home about. The cheeseburger was a little dry but with cheese it was tolerable. I was also pretty hungry after having worked out and then waited a while. The staff were not very friendly. The woman that took my order was seemingly stressed and tired which I can understand since it was pretty hot out. Overall I would not get their food again or recommend it to anyone. Probably better off getting takeout from a nearby restaurant. read more

I don't get it. There. I said it. The night this truck rolled into our complex, I decided to try it. They must have been out of the advertised home fries, because they were serving what looked like store bought fries. No biggie. Everyone was raving about the garbage plate. So I figured ok, let's see what this is. Its a plate of fries, macaroni salad, meat sauce, hot dogs, mustard, and onions. For $12??? I ate it. Nothing wrong with it. Not exactly unique or overly flavorful in any way other than it was all piled together. So if you don't like your food touching, steer clear, honey! But could I have cooked this hot mess? Yes! So could a prison kitchen. I go to food trucks to find something different, unique, ethnic. Not slop on a plate. The owners were very kind though. I just think this is drunk food. These people in Rochester, NY who made this dish "famous" need to get out more! Or lay down the bottle once in awhile... SOBER UP, ROCHESTER!! It's not something you need to be eating when not drunk!! read more

If you have ever visited Nick Tahoes in Rochester then this is the next best thing! This truck has food that represents the area of Rochester New York. Many a night of late-night bar-hopping terminated at Nick Tahoes. Visited Trash Talk Food at the UNC football game today (Oct. 26, 2019). AWFUL EXPERIENCE. First my credit card could not be read by their machine (no issues with my card). I paid cash. Then had to wait 10 minutes for my fried chicken sandwich. When received it had no toppings. It's supposed to have mayo, lettuce, and tomato. I gave it back asking for the toppings. They told me they didn't have any lettuce. This was the last straw and I asked for my money back. They said they couldn't. I demanded my money back ($9). They then came back and said they were opening the lettuce - lo and behold they found some! It seems they were just too lazy to open and clean it. I took this pitiful sandwich and have informed all my friends, family and co-workers to AVOID eating at this place. NEVER will again. read more

I lived in Rochester for a while about 15 years ago, and my Plate intake took a serious hit once I moved down here. These aren't quite the real thing, but they're good enough to satisfy my cravings. The home fries need to be a little chunkier, they need the traditional bread to with it, and they need to have Frank's on hand. I'll definitely find this truck again soon! read more

I grew up in Rochester and these plates are very authentic! Owner is from Webster and does a great job. for now it's still missing the bread to soak up the meat sauce and the home fries are a little small, but apparently both are in the work for improvements, and neither issue detracts from the fact that these taste amazing! read more

Staff was nice, this rating is based off the food being that food trucks are supposed to be quick great tasting food. We went trash burger, with trash fries, and also the trash talk plate. All were crinkle fries you can make at your house topped with can chili... That was pretty much it, had other toppings but were so light all u could taste were the fries and the can chili. Burger was okay but for maybe $3-$4, not $8. Was in line with a good gas station buger that they fry up in the back and you pay $3 for a single $3.50 for a double. If you know what im talking about you know. Overall wouldnt spend any more money here, sad but I have to put out this "trash talk" to give you guys a heads up on the food quality. Not original enough for me as a good truck, but i wish them the best hopefully they read this and come up with a real menu that is worth being considered a top tier "food truck". read more
