Can you believe that the transmission went out on my 20 year old car? Well, I couldn't at first, until my car struggled to shift and suddenly jump unexpectedly. I had no clue what was happening at first, until my auto repair guy told me what was going on! Unfortunately, they don't work on transmissions, so I had to frantically search Yelp for a reputable place that was somewhat close to my house, where I could arrive safely and not break down before getting there! I located Transtech Transmissions a short distance down from my neighborhood on Power Inn Rd. It is attached to other businesses, so the whole cramped parking lot wasn't too inviting. I kind of wished I had chosen another place, but since I made it there, I was committed. They were quite busy, so I guess that means they are good at what they do. One of the staff members was very nice and explained what may or may not happen to my vehicle. Nothing is set in stone until they take my car apart underneath and get the whole story. I did get a possible high end quote of about $1,500.00 to have the transmission rebuilt. They would probably have to keep my car for about 5-7 days because it was on a Friday and a holiday weekend. Plus, they were short staffed as someone was on vacation. I sadly agreed, and went home with my bf. After about 3 days of not hearing back, I tried calling several times and couldn't get through, because their phone answering system said they were not available, and the mail box was full. It also stated another phone number, as if I was calling a different number which didn't seem associated with the business. I waited another day before I had Joe K finally drive me down there to get an update. The employee who had been on vacation helped me this time, and was sorry that no one contacted me. There was apparently more going on than just my transmission. They even discovered that my front axles were cracked! He was very nice and put together another estimate that included all the repairs. Because the vehicle was already dismantled concerning the transmission, he wouldn't have to charge additional labor, and I would only have to pay for parts. My quote went up another $500.00, but I needed my beloved car fixed, so I agreed. It just took another day and a half, and my car was up and running again! A few minor complaints I had, was that when I got home, I realized my front wheel cover was missing! I called Transtech back, and was told right away that I was missing the wheel cover when I dropped off the car! I adamantly told him "no way!" He was so sure, that he didn't offer to at least check and look for it! Fortunately, I could hear in the back ground, that one of the other mechanics happened to be listening and yelled out "here it is!" What a relief!! I had to drive back and get it put back on! My other issue was that they work with, expectedly, a lot of grease. I ended up cleaning sticky grease off of my steering wheel cover and hand smudges from various places on my car. I couldn't wait to take my vehicle to Magic Car Wash for a thorough, detailed cleaning inside and out!! My car may be old, but it has been a loyal friend for a major part of my life! read more

This place is a joke i pay for a rebuild transm and they only change the torque converter

I just wanted to say that I took my car in to these guys to check for possible bad transmission well they got back to me Monday and said I had a bad transmission that there was a lot of metal shavings in the transmission pan . So therefore they said for them to rebuild it would cost me $2500 or get a new one which cost $3000-3500!!! Like are you serious so I took the car home pulled the pan off and what do you know NO METAL SHAVINGS. These guys told me lies just to try and make me spend thousands of dollars with them for no reason. People like this will get cash one day when they do a sting operation in them. read more

Couldn't be happier with my experience here! Eddie was super kool seemed really honest, I had a leak at the extension housing and I told him I thought the gasket was bad, he quoted me 400 to fix it and I went for it. Later in a phone call he said he would let me know if the extension housing was cracked or something.... I wa as nervous the whole time thinking all he had to do was say that it was cracked and he could get more cash out of me BUT!! he didnt do that, he was super honest and fixed my gasket leak for the price he originally told me!! I was really impressed with the knowledge/experience and honesty of this transmission shop. When the transmission began acting up on my 2005 Jetta, I talked to another transmission shop who quoted me $1,200. Next I went to this transmission shop and spoke to Eddy, the owner. He took my car for a spin and then put it up on a hoist to find that the transmission pan gasket was not properly installed and had leaked a lot of fluid. I had no way of knowing my fluid was low because Jetta's don't have dip sticks... ....and I did not suspect it because I had recently had the fluid changed by SpeeDee (the people who change my motor oil). I ended up having the fluid changed again and getting a new gasket for $200. I highly recommend Eddy and his staff AND don't have anyone other than a transmission shop change your transmission fluid. read more

I took my Honda pilot to get the transmission rebuilt here. They did rebuilt the transmission but while working on the transmission they drained my power steering pump per protocol, when they place everything back they pour transmission fluid into my power steering pump and completely damaged it. I didn't know so I drove my car for a 2 month. My power steering was running so badly. I took it in for repair and later found out they poured transmission fluid into the pump. I took it back to them to fix the pump. The owner denied having to remove the power steering pump, he denied putting the wrong fluid inside my power steering pump. I had to come out of pocket another $600 yo get it repair. I went to the BAR to file a complaint but was told that they can't prove it. They spoke to the owner and was told the same thing. Please beware of these guys! They will make mistakes and lie in your face and refuse to fix their mistake. read more

While travelling through Sacramento, the transmission in our van broke. I took it to transtech transmissions and talked to the owner, Edy. Even though we didn't need our van back until the following Monday for our trip back to Seattle, WA, he said it would be done on Friday. My fault for not calling him on Friday and showing up on Monday expecting my van fixed, but needless to say, it wasn't "fixed" until 4 PM! Not only were we a day late getting back to Seattle, but the van broke down that night about 30 miles away from the shop! After spending more money at another mechanic, we called Edy and told him what was wrong. He did drive out that night and tow the van back to finally fix it, but we ended up staying 2 extra days in California. All in all, the repair cost me about $2500 in lost time, extra hotels, food for the entire family more than it should have. Though the customer service was excellent, I would not return. read more
