The cause was found, simple fix for them, and I drove the car off the lot and travelled 50 miles back home. The transmission never missed a beat and shifted smoothly all the way. I have more put on an additional 200 miles. If you have a classic car and having issues, this is the place to take it. I would recommend to the company to start using paper floor mats to keep the interior carpet clean from oily work boots.

A Subaru Impreza found at a Subaru dealer seemed good on paper and in the photos. But I NEVER accept a vehicle unless I run Carfax, AutoCheck and two free VIN history reports ("NICB VINCheck" and VINHISTORY "dot" com). Some bad vehicle are being sold by good and bad dealers. And sometimes Carfax misses stuff AutoCheck catches, and vice versa. In this case, there was no contradicting info, and only positive and helpful neutral details in these reports. BUT THIS IS NOT ENOUGH. No matter what anyone says, a used car is not worth buying if you cannot have a quality, reputable and competent shop perform a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Chris's Auto Repair (Anthony, Travis and company) did exactly what we needed and more. They not only did everything to evaluate the mechanical condition of the vehicle, but looked for evidence of past accidents/abuse. They even went into the car to tell us if it had any distinct odors that would turn us off. My customer and I made it known that we were VERY concerned about the cosmetic condition of the car. So, in addition to a full mechanical, structural inspection and road test, the tech's at Chris's provided us with a thorough understanding of the car's body (scratches, dings, dents, etc as well as any cracks in the vinyl bumpers and surrounds). There were a number of things that were not known that were revealed. The tire tread was beginning to separate, the front fascia/grill area was cracked (from someone banging into a cement parking barrier, and a number of less important items that were good to know up front. These were items that the dealer did not reveal to us. In the end, my customer decided that there was nothing so bad with the vehicle that she couldn't either live with or address when it was purchased and shipped to Denver. I could not be happier with the thorough and conscientious way that Chris's evaluated the Impreza. My customer was very glad she spent the money and entrusted this pre-purchase inspection to Chris's. He said about $200 or less and it would take about 3-4 hours so I made an appointment for 9/3 2026 at 1:00 pm and told him I had my own Toyota Factory coolant. So i dropped it off an hour early to give them plenty of time. I called at 4:00 and they said they were just rolling it in so I waited until 6:30 and called and they were closed. I went down the next morning and they were going to charge me $350 but I told the lady he had quoted me as much as $200 so they lowered the bill to $200. I got home and figured they had not used my factory cooland and that the radiator was low and there was no coolant in the overflow tank. I filled it up with almost 3 quarts of coolant and decided they were not going to work on my car anymore. I asked if they planned to look at my timing belt to confirm if it was cracked or I could delay the change, they said they visualized it (lies) & they assured me it needed to be changed because it was cracked (not cracked at removal @ different shop). Only fluids systems were recommended for flushing/change. No sooner than a month later, I went to another shop for a leaking axel and they found my brakes were metal on metal... which was missed and usually included in an "inspection."
