Our mother was in this place for a month (Jan. 2024) and developed C-Diff. Instead of being…read moretreated for it, they let her suffer (and I do mean SUFFER) in agony, and when she was soiled, they wouldn't clean her up for hours. We asked for her to be bathed so her skin wouldn't be so irritated, but they only bathe residents once a week, no matter what. They placed her soiled clothing in garbage bags for family to take home to wash, and the stench in her room from the bagged up, infectious, laundry was over whelming. When we brought our concerns to the powers that be, we were told, in a nutshell, that if we didn't approve of how they did things, we could pack up our mom and leave. This wasn't a one-time event... the entire month she was there she was ignored, forced to eat (which made her vomit), the daily PT was was to receive was sporadic at best. This was our first experience with transitional housing (rehab) and did not know what to expect, but we sure expected better than what we got! We will NEVER use this place again!!! And.... two days after being released from this "care" facility, our mom was back in the hospital because the C-Diff was that bad. Their lack of care made our mother very, very sick. Zero out of five stars. Not recommended. Wish they could be closed down.... Or fined.

But this is a review of Courage Kenny Golden Valley (formerly Courage Center). I was an in-patient in their Transitional Rehabilitation Program (TRP) from sometime in mid-April until June 7th, 2019. I came from Courage Kenny ANW) in a stable but still very dependent state. I was still wheelchair bound for example. Again, I choose to not omit staff so will make only general observations. That said, whether PT, OT, SLP, Doctors, Nurses, PAs, Social Workers and all others they were very well trained, could both push and support you and I found them to be engaging while professional. In my opinion, just exceptional in every aspect. Unlike stays at previous places, I had a roommate. But in my case this was mitigated by having what amounted to an alcove all to myself. Additionally, this location distinguished itself by not being a hospital or hospital based. Breakfast was served on individual trays in an informal setting. Lunch and dinner were both cafeteria style and for these we gathered in a more formal but still communal dining area that, when the weather cooperated spilled out to an adjacent patio. Good views of nearby Theodore Wirth golf course were available indoors or out. It was great to witness golfers arrive in the Spring as regular as Robins. The entire campus sprawls over acres of well maintained, beautiful grounds. A bridge spans Bassett Creek and it was at its apex that I can recall getting out of my wheelchair and standing unassisted for the first time in what seemed a long time. Another way this campus differs from a hospital is that, when safe, they encourage field trips. These could be to a Doctor's appointment, various meals or celebrations or just to get away for a few hours. A PT will briefly orient the given driver and if you can get in and out of the vehicle you're good to go. In any case, after six months of institutional care the last of which was this place, I was discharged on June 7th, 2019 and returned home. Any trepidation I may have had was largely allayed when a PT and OT together visited my home (relatively nearby) to make some safety recommendations. As a result, among other changes I had ralis and grab bars installed in several locations throughout the house. I entered into home care (a phase I decided to call The Mountain Comes to Muhammed) coordinated through Courage Kenny. I was visited by PT, OT and Speech Therapists, Social Workers and Nurses. Although different, they too were top-notch. Finally I entered what I choose to call (you guessed it) the Muhammed Goes to The Mountain phase, namely out-patient care. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, the staff were across the board superb. If I am to safely walk unassisted or am assessed ready to resume driving, I don't think that I could be in better hands.

The Villa At Robbinsdale offerd long term housing not thinking I was going to be there THAT LONG .My care there was more than I expected. I was set up with dental services &Weigh loss management services outside of the facility .I never though I would ever be in a Nursing home facility but I was &my stay there was warming .The staff there assisted with numerous things .I advocated a lot for myself but anything I wasn't sure of was answered by the staff there .My stay there was fine but Im.glad to be back.on my own ,they also hooked me up with a relocation service It took awhile but It paid off .

They all were very pleasant, accommodating, and on top of things at all times. Shortly after I arrived I was given a schedule for my times with the physical and occupational therapists. Medications were given as needed and on time. The food was excellent and made to order. Once we found this out, they allowed us to keep her there during her last weeks (private pay). The staff there had come to know and love her, and treated her with utmost dignity and respect. She passed away on hospice care at interlude. Our family could not be more happy with the loving care that she received there. The facility is absolutely great, and the staff is exceptional.

She was left In her own soil for 30 min because she waited 30 min for someone to assist her to use the bathroom. They enter the room with gloves on used in previous rooms and don't change them, you have to tell them to change them. Her wipes are left open and out; they still attempt to use them on her. She soiled clothes are left lying around and on top of her medical equipment that go into her mouth for use. The towels, rags, wipes and depends used are left soiled around the room. She has been left in her room alone for hours despite asking for assistance to go the common rooms. When they do finally come to assist they have the worst, gruff attitudes. Use very harsh and demeaning tones with the people in their care. Had to file a police report. Only then did someone address any of our concerns and finally put on name tags so we knew who was/wasn't assisting. When the staff was speaking with us they took zero responsibility and only could offer to TRY their best to care for her with dignity and respect. Filing an vulnerable adult neglect report as well. If you care for the vulnerable adults your life do not use this facility.

Someone needs to be fired…read more A few months ago i submitted an appt request via their website. I received an email saying that someone would be in touch in a few days. A month later nothing. I called them a few weeks ago gave all of my information and condition was transferred to the scheduler's voicemail. I left a message and I've never heard anything since. I wouldn't trust this place with my medical care if it were the last clinic on Earth. If they can't do this basic kind of thing how could you trust them to do anything else?

I took a peek and the tech had her shirt up scratching away on her stomach. This went on during the entire test! After that the next test I was supposed to take a sedative at a certain time. That was early and didn't have time to take it. The tech for that test said she couldn't tell me when to take it. Test three, the doctor came in the room wearing a Mickey Mouse tee shirt. The rooms were dark, very untidy. I would not recommend this facility to anyone...based on the testing experience.

Violation of MN elder abuse laws to isolate a vulnerable adult from family members. Maybe also a violation of the disabilities act?? They sure didn't mind collecting her 8-$10,000 per month and I don't think it was asking too much for a little help with her telephone needs. If you love your family member find a better place for them. I will say kudos to the actual caregivers working here who are all very nice but didn't have the authority to help. I wish that they didn't hire anyone, my family has talked about getting their meds late due to having "short staff" i wanted to trust that they will get back to being the copperfield we all enjoyed and loved.
