My mother has been at Emerald Crest Mtka for over two years, and we are very happy with it…read more We love the layout! There are 12 bedrooms circling a large living room and dining room. I like that they have bedrooms, not apartments, which encourages residents to leave their bedroom and come out to where all the action is. And there are activities available seven days a week. Emerald Crest has three houses, each with different levels of dementia, which works really well. I wanted mom to be with other Seniors who have similar mental and physical capabilities as she does, so that she could make friends. It has worked out really well, and she has made friends. I remember walking her to a table for lunch one of the first days she was there. Her whole face lit up when she saw who she would be sitting with. She didn't know their names, but she knew that she liked them. Mom has gotten excellent nursing/health care at Emerald Crest. When mom moved in, she had infected diabetic ulcers on her feet and legs that we thought would kill her. She has gotten such good care at Emerald Crest that when these diabetic ulcers do occur, they are quickly treated before they can get worse. I feel that they are no longer a threat to her life. The staff at Emerald Crest has always quickly responded to our questions and concerns. Because I am confident about the quality of care my mother is getting, I don't worry about what is happening when I'm not there. I'm able to go on vacation, and even travel out of the country, knowing that my mother is being well cared for. I highly recommend the Minnetonka Emerald Crest.

Sometimes left sleeping in bed till 3:00pm with his breathing mask off, not properly groomed and dressed for the day ahead, forgotten medication, no breakfast or lunch because of my grandfather's refusal to sit at the kitchen table and awake anywhere from 8:30pm-10:00pm when the agreed upon bedtime is 8:00pm, are all reasons why myself and numerous family members are now with my grandfather from the time he wakes up everyday to the time he goes to bed. Without our supervision, my grandfather would be left in bed and left unfed. I understand the professionals are not able to force a resident to eat. However, my grandfather needs to eat or he will wither away and die. A solution? Welcome him to the table and sit with him until he is done. Don't have the time to sit with him while he eats? Take the time I see you sitting on the couch not even engaged with the other residents, standing around talking to the other nurses and/or on your cell phone and put your time and energy toward the residents and make the $8,000/month we are paying you worth it. I and each one of my family members have gotten him to eat his entire meal by patiently sitting with him, scooping food onto his fork, handing him the fork where he then takes it himself to eat. It's one thing if he refuses to take one more bite. What is not acceptable is the lack of effort made by the nursing professionals to even get him to the table! Simply asking him will not do. He needs to be told it is time to come to the kitchen table for a meal. He needs to have food in front of him in order for him to eat it. It is not enough to ask him if he's in the mood for food. Again, he doesn't eat and he withers away and dies. Assisted living homes have a very bad reputation all across the world. Emerald Crest of Minnetonka is not doing a thing to change that. I expect great care for my grandfather. He and every other resident here deserve it. Be better, Emerald Creat of Minnetonka.

As a physician and a daughter, it is my honor and privilege to recommend Spirit Care Homes…read moreenthusiastically and without reservation. My father lived in a large assisted living facility for almost two years. As his neurologic disease progressed, that facility was unable to meet his care needs. We were incredibly lucky to find Spirit Care for the final several months of his life. The loving and sensitive staff made my father and our entire family feel at home and cared for. They went above and beyond to ensure that during his time at Spirit Care my father felt welcomed, safe, loved, and confident that his needs would always addressed. Unique to Spirit Care is the consistent and skilled caregiving team. At Spirit Care, the staff are respected and appreciated, which attracts and retains highly qualified, long term caregivers (we had experienced frequent turnover of staff at the larger facility). The owners and staff at Spirit Care constantly checked in with my father, our family, and his hospice team to ensure that he was getting the best care possible, always promoting his autonomy and quality of life. The state of the art monitoring technologies utilized at Spirit Care ensure the residents' safety and optimal health. Spirit Care worked with us to creatively adapt my father's care plan as his condition changed and they always advocated for us. Spirit Care's excellent program allowed me to let go of the role of care manager (because absolutely nothing fell through the cracks) so that I could just be a daughter again. In his final days, Ilitch, Ria, Tammy, and the entire staff enveloped us with love and support so we could focus on my father's comfort. In fact, they continued caring for our family even after my father had passed away with incredibly generous actions that allowed us to focus on grieving. I absolutely recommend Spirit Care Homes to any family looking for a caregiving home for their loved one. I will be forever grateful to Spirit Care for the role they played in the final months of my father's life. This is a top notch facility that I fully and wholeheartedly recommend and endorse both as a physician and a family member.

My Mother was at Amira for 4 years in the memory care unit. It was bad, and then it got worse…read more Every single time I went to visit, she was wet. Every single time! We even bought flow-through pads to use in addition to the depends, in case she was a "gusher". There were times she was wearing the depends and two flow through pads and was still soaking. FYI, that means she was sitting in 8 cups (1/2 gallon) of urine. I am just a dumb landscaper, but perhaps that explains the multiple UTI's that she had every year. She also had multiple falls (a result of dizziness from the UTI's) and a broken hip and later a broken femur. The best thing Almira ever did for us was kick Mom out, because it forced us to find another place for Mom. She spent the last 4 months at Breck Homes in Bloomington, where they made her feel useful and had so many outings that it was hard to visit her. Pretty is as pretty does, and Amira doesn't! If you are looking at memory care, visit here at meal time. Do these people look like they are enjoying themselves? Does the food look appetizing? Can they even hear each other, if they wanted to talk? Is there room to comfortably move around the tables with a wheelchair or walker? Yes, the fireplace is pretty. Is the room functional? Comfortable? Does the staff chit-chat with the residents, or do they just boss them around? Ask the employees you run into how long they have worked there, and ask if anyone has been there since the opening which is less than 6 years ago. There is only 1 who has been there the whole time, and she is the only one who knows how to get things done. Hint: it is Linda at the front desk. Raona

We would come visit her and she would smell like urine, she would have a dirty depends on for hours. She was barely washed with either a cloth or actual shower. She had 2 falls that didn't make sense, so we bought granny camera's, which were frequently turned off by staff until we told them it was illegal. Some of the staff did the bare minimum to get her ready for the day. She had 2 more falls which the staff was no where to be seen. She layed for 2 hours on the floor until they found her. Just when you think things couldn't get worse, it did. I sent flowers and a teddy bear to her one day and the teddy bear is no where to be found. My grandma contracted the Covid-19 virus here. She has since passed away. Unfortunately her death was not peaceful in any way. This company is absolutely horrible. The management is cowardly and quite literally pathetic. This company should be shut down. Our parents, grandparents, sisters, brothers and all other family deserve so much better. Please think twice before sending your loved ones here. I guarantee you, you will regret it, I do EVERYDAY. I wish she was still alive but at least she is no longer in pain .

When our Dad made the difficult decision to sell his condo and move to a Senior Living location, we visited multiple Senior Living homes but kept returning to The Glenn Hopkins. Scott and the wonderful Marketing Team were very patient, allowing us to visit multiple times as they understood this was a major decision for our Dad and family. Dad chose The Glenn because it felt like home and we knew he would be cared for very well. Dad spent the first five months in The Towers. He was so happy with his one bedroom w/den and couldn't get over the fact that he was being served meals in a dining room with white linen tablecloths. It felt like he was dining out every day. In June, Dad had to move to The Terraces Assisted Living where he lived for the next 10 months. Sandra, Julie, and Jen were so fantastic and accommodating as he required many schedule changes based on his changing health. Dad formed many friendships with the other residents during his time at The Glenn. They looked out for each other and we are thankful for his wonderful neighbors. He also made many friendships with the staff who cared for him. It takes very special people to do all that the nurses and aides do every day and to do it with love and patience. Dad made the choice that if something happened he did not want to go to the hospital. Instead, after suffering a stroke, he spent his final days in his home being cared for by the people who knew him and cared about him. Our family is OVERWHELMED by the love and support that was shown to our Dad and us during his final days, and the days that followed as we planned his service and moved his belongings out of his apartment. It was a steady stream of staff and neighbors who came to show their love for him and say goodbye. The staff also provided so much comfort and support to our family each day. They shared stories of their family members, gave us lots of hugs, and told us "we cared for your Dad how we would want our Dad to be treated". It was very touching when some of the staff took their personal time and came to the funeral service. The Glenn was an extension of our family and we knew Dad was loved and received exceptional care every day. Dad frequently said "God brought me to The Glenn". We are thankful this is where he lived and thankful to everyone who touched his and our family's lives. We would highly recommend The Glenn Hopkins to anyone looking for a Senior, Assisted Living or Memory Care home. Family of Al Carlson

I heartily agree that The Glenn Hopkins is a wonderful place to live. My reasons may be a bit…read moredifferent from most others, however. Two years ago I decided I wanted to live closer to my children and to downtown Minneapolis, so I sold my town home in Elk River. I no longer wanted to own real estate, thought about finding an apartment, but I'm 84 and knew I'd need services at some point even though I don't now. I have 8 children and the thought of their trying to decide "what to do with Mother" made me feel I should be the one to decide. I shopped around a lot and found the Glenn by far the most appealing senior residence. I still don't NEED any of their services, but I use the shuttle a lot, have learned to navigate the Metro buses and can get around so easily that I sold my car six months ago. What pleases me most is 1) the opportunity to volunteer here as much or little as I wish, 2) the ability to be as social (or not) as I like and to my great surprise 3) the wooded surroundings and splendidly maintain grounds. I like to walk and never tire of this area. And don't get me started on the city of Hopkins! It puts Elk River to shame, with many good restaurants, a movie theater, an art center with concerts and events for all ages, a grocery store, hardware store, drug store that delivers, specialty shops and a half dozen antique shops as well as a branch of the Hennepin Library system. (We have a fine library in our own building, too, with quarterly deliveries of books from the Hennepin system as well as hundreds of books that have been donated to us.) I am Catholic and was delighted to find a "church home" here. Last of all (perhaps it should be first) the entire staff is not only competent but very, very kind. Every one I've met will go many extra miles to be helpful.
