We lucked out in choosing Home Instead to take care of our 90 year old mother. (she was 87 at the…read moretime). Their services are phenomenal, starting with the first call. Mom was in rehab and about to be released. She refused to let anyone in the family take care of her because she didn't want to be a "burden". Home Instead came to the rehab facility within hours of my call and it was smooth sailing after that. Their patient coordinator, office staff, care givers, and especially the owner, John Stuck have been so attentive we'd think we are their only client. John has been to see mom several times and each time it just brightens her day (he is quite personable). We have never had a problem with their services and whenever I call with a change, etc, their response time is lightening fast and handled as though we are family to them. They also have a pay scale to match the clients needs. We are currently on the companion care plan and when mom starts to decline, we can move up a notch to the personal care plan, etc. And mom likes the variety of care givers each day. She has the same 3-4 that rotate (24/7) and she never gets bored. Since mom never wants to leave her home, now she won't have to - because of Home Instead, she can stay home as long as she wants. She is living on her terms which has kept all of us sane. When the time comes that you ever need this type of care, save yourself a lot of time and call Home Instead first - you won't be disappointed.

The Assisted Living-Apartments would get 5 stars from me!!! But I knocked one star off due to my…read moredad's recent visit to the attached temporary rehab center where he spent two weeks. My parents both live in the apartments and they love it! It is perfect! It is a small, family community and I cannot tell you enough how wonderful it is to know my mom and dad are in a very safe, clean, wonderful, community. They love their cozy apartment and have made many friends. The staff is truly amazing!! All of them!! When I stay, I rent the suite a few doors down from them for only $70 a night and it is so comfortable. I think I would give the rehab center next door 3 stars. Although their response to my concerns were really receptive and supportive, there were some very disheartening moments that I would not expect from any medical institution, especially those that care for the elderly. In those first 3 - 4 days I had to painstakingly remind nurses to not bump into his feet as he has extremely painful neuropathy - which of course they knew. It happened several times in those first days. My dad is very sharp, but has trouble hearing. Unless I was with him, he could not understand a single staff member. No matter how many times I tried to tell them. I can very easily communicate with my dad. All I have to do is face him and speak up a few octaves. Their problem with this resulted in my dad never knowing what they were saying if I wasn't there around the clock. I had to ask aids to shut the bathroom door so he can use the restroom with some dignity and many times my dad had to push his button for pain meds up to 3 x waiting up to 50 minutes. I also cleaned his room while I was there with a broom I found. My brother and I would hear the woman next door asking for help and we would have to go in there and show her how to use her button. On the second day, it was a bad day for my dad and as I left to thank the nurse, I was in tears, and wanted to connect with her as she seemed abrupt with me. She just waved and said ya, no problem. I expressed these concerns with the admin, head nurse, nutritionist, therapists and they were all very thankful because they said we would not know how to improve if families didn't advocate. I handled meeting with them kindly and vulnerably and they continued to communicate with me via email and phone throughout the rest of my dad's two weeks. 3 stars is good. His room was wonderful and he got really great care from many and his therapists got him home early! For those things I am grateful. I just feel sad for folks who do not have a family member to check with them often. Especially during their first week. I can't help but think that some staff, like any work place, are less compassionate with patients who have no advocacy.

From frequenting a national caregiver's forum, I know how absolutely rare this service is. When…read morefaced with finding care facilities, most people in the U.S. have to go it alone or with a patchwork of insufficient advice from profit-driven referral agencies or underfunded social organizations. They dig through marketing materials, sales pitches, and inconsistent pricing models and juggle site visits, never getting the inside scoop to have confidence that they're selecting the best fit for their loved one. After a phone interview exploring everything from ADL needs to personality quirks, TCC took that data, came back to us within a week with their 4 top suggestions. They offered a rundown of exactly why each would fit with knowledge of the history of each, their business practices, style of care, staffing levels, along with an apples-to-apples comparison of monthly costs. Our TCC rep met us for site visits scheduled across two days, and made sure we got the info we needed, asking questions once ours were done to fill in any gaps. At each site, we spent a few minutes after meeting with the staff to talk to our rep and she ensured we had what we needed and shared her insights about the visit. When we'd completed all the visits, we spent a few days making a decision. We had what we needed to understand the daily experience as well as both short and long-term financial effects including the impact of a potential future switch to Medicaid funding at each option. We let our rep know, and she informed each home of our decision so we were ready to coordinate with the chosen home on move-in preparation. There is truly no substitution for the amount of knowledge and guidance that you get from TCC. A year later, it's clear we found the best place for our situation with their help. They're awesome and I recommend that everyone researching an assisted living, memory care, or similar facility call them first.

We worked with Diana, who was so kind, compassionate, and super knowledgeable about senior living and all the details that go with it. She helped us set up many tours and patiently attended each tour, providing guidance and asking great questions. I could not have asked for a better experience. We found a great place for my mom and I'm very thankful that Diana was such a great resource for us, guiding us to companies that could help my mom move, asking great questions and making sure we fully understood what each place provided. Plus her presence was very calming. I highly recommend Twin Cities Care!
