From frequenting a national caregiver's forum, I know how absolutely rare this service is. When faced with finding care facilities, most people in the U.S. have to go it alone or with a patchwork of insufficient advice from profit-driven referral agencies or underfunded social organizations. They dig through marketing materials, sales pitches, and inconsistent pricing models and juggle site visits, never getting the inside scoop to have confidence that they're selecting the best fit for their loved one. After a phone interview exploring everything from ADL needs to personality quirks, TCC took that data, came back to us within a week with their 4 top suggestions. They offered a rundown of exactly why each would fit with knowledge of the history of each, their business practices, style of care, staffing levels, along with an apples-to-apples comparison of monthly costs. Our TCC rep met us for site visits scheduled across two days, and made sure we got the info we needed, asking questions once ours were done to fill in any gaps. At each site, we spent a few minutes after meeting with the staff to talk to our rep and she ensured we had what we needed and shared her insights about the visit. When we'd completed all the visits, we spent a few days making a decision. We had what we needed to understand the daily experience as well as both short and long-term financial effects including the impact of a potential future switch to Medicaid funding at each option. We let our rep know, and she informed each home of our decision so we were ready to coordinate with the chosen home on move-in preparation. There is truly no substitution for the amount of knowledge and guidance that you get from TCC. A year later, it's clear we found the best place for our situation with their help. I originally worked with this company six years ago when my mom broke her arm, and we started looking at senior living. I had an amazing experience then and using them again this year in April 2025 was no different. We worked with Diana, who was so kind, compassionate, and super knowledgeable about senior living and all the details that go with it. She helped us set up many tours and patiently attended each tour, providing guidance and asking great questions. I could not have asked for a better experience. Nope. Nope. Nope. We contacted Jonathan after searching and researching AL residences in an urgent need. He nixed some AL facilities as well as some residential care homes we considered, as well as recommending 2 AL facilities. We went with him to Sunrise of Golden Valley. I have to say there were some statements made that gave me pause, as well as a few mixed reviews, but we felt pressured by the need for transferring my mother from rehab. (Senior living facilities have an ebb and flow (paraphrase); "I really think Sunrise is on the upswing"). And he seemed over enthusiastic on our visit. My mother had to cope with moving from independent living to hospital to rehab to 4 months at Sunrise to Care Suites of Edina in the space of 6 months. It is very difficult in this industry to find the truth underneath all of the hype of corporate senior living facility marketing as well as the corporate senior advising companies. I thought Jonathan would be well acquainted as a local well known advisor. He is. I had a recommendation for him by a retired advisor colleague. Speaking of Sunrise is exhausting. My tip is to search the jobs posted on indeed.com. Every single position at the Golden Valley location was advertised. Two to four wks in Sunrise the exec director and bookkeeper were gone. The rec director left. The chef left. The sales person was corporate and went on to the next Sunrise stint. The aides were not CNAs but hired off the street for on the job training. Communication nonexistent. Calls or emails (to the head RN) were unanswered. Call lights not answered. Supplies not ordered. There were many days that the aides cooked and served the meals. Disturbing. Hygiene after care? Hand washing, gloves, covering patient care clothing? Food handling permit? Who is in charge here? Who do we call? It appeared the aides ran the place. That care was spotty depending on who was on. Two aides for the whole facility at night. On and on... exhausting, maddening. I found CareSuites accidentally while looking at indeed.com for the posted job ads for Sunrise. (Every.single.position. advertised.) I surmise that Jonathan's company works with the corporate facilities that will pay him. (ok, of course.) I wouldn't expect anything different than the national senior care advisors. CareSuites was a Godsend. My mother had 9 months there before she passed May 2023. He doesn't recommend CareSuites. Read reviews, visit, interview caregivers and clients, look at indeed.com, Glassdoor, social media sites where community may make recommendations (NextDoor, Facebook community pages, anywhere you can get information, . We knew for some time that our mom, who's a quadriplegic would need to be moved from her home to some sort of care 24/7. However, she's young and a nursing home wasn't the right fit. Laura from Twin Cities Care was an answer to my prayers! She listened compassionately to my concerns about the needs of my 96-year old father and my frustration with his current living situation, and she responded with excellent suggestions. She helped me weigh options over a period of several weeks. With her knowledgeable guidance, I toured and selected Emerald Crest Memory Care in Burnsville. I had never heard of Emerald Crest, but Laura had encouraged me to consider them. Perfect fit! My dad has been there for 6 months, and I am grateful every day for the wonderful care he receives from their knowledgeable, caring, and dedicated staff. I have complete confidence in their ability to help my dad feel safe, healthy, comfortable, entertained, and appreciated. I visit often and have observed the staff, some of whom have worked there for 14 years (staff turnover was a concern at his previous assisted living facility), deal respectfully and lovingly with all the residents of the house all the time. That says a lot for the staff in a memory care facility where so much patience is required. The atmosphere is always positive and calm, the activities are varied and inclusive, and the residents are given personal attention. The staff develops a beautiful sense of community through group activities, games, and mealtime. In speaking with other family members of residents, I have found we share a great sense of relief and trust in the Emerald Crest staff. It's easy to see why Laura recommended them! In addition to helping me select a such a wonderful memory care facility for my dad, Laura also connected me with VA representative to assess my dad's level of disability for VA benefits. The helpful representative guided me through the process that ultimately allowed my dad to receive an increase in VA benefits. What a terrific resource at just the right time! Twin Cities Care provides a wonderful service to families dealing with complex issues on finding the right place and environment for their elderly parents. They do it with the highest professionalism and knowledge, experience in interacting with various providers, having the providers' respect and trust, and always remaining laser focused on each individual client they are representing. My mother in law had been hospitalized and her dementia has been continually increasing. We knew we reached a point where she needed 24 hour support and that the current arrangement was no longer sufficient. We thought we had to choose between 24 hour support in her senior apartment or putting her in a nursing home. it seemed premature to think of a nursing home setting but were there other alternatives. We were introduced to Jonathan by our care giver. We met with him and he explained to us the growing use of residential long term care homes managed by professionals, having nurses and support people who are focused on patients suffering from memory loss and also having physical limitations. He took us to several places and one was in a beautiful home in a bright and stimulating environment and serving only 4 people.For my mother in law it was like being back in a house not a building. It represented the best possible balance of all options.. We had no idea it even existed. Google searches always seem to identify the same large facilities.
