Of course he has specialties but I would feel willing to talk about topics on probably any subject with him and be fairly sure he would have great insights and knowledge to help me. I've been in session with a few therapists and I have little doubt I would have been equally pleased with Dr. Jobin as my counselor whether for family or even when I was still in the military and, thanks to a lot of social pressure, discretion seemed like a necessity. I am proud to tell people in every profession that it's never to late to learn how to go to therapy. I currently work in law enforcement and I spend quite a bit of time encouraging coworkers to start going before you feel you need it because it's a skill that can be improved like any other. Dr. Jobin obviously gets this and will help you no matter what level of knowledge you have regarding therapists. I was lucky enough to meet Jim in person and he reinforced every one of these views I held. Originally I was looking for counseling to help me navigate my feelings around my mom with ALS, with whom I didn't have a good relationship, and since then, she has helped me grow into such a calm, collected, understanding, and strong person. I'd always considered myself strong, but I was very closed off from certain feelings. I can now feel all the things that arise and not be debilitated by them, including the overwhelming empathy I used to have. I can sit comfortably with people I don't agree with, I've learned the power of listening over simply talking, my marriage is absolutely incredible despite serious health challenges and other things life throws, and I am a truly optimistic person now rather than being more of a "realist" who focused more on possible negative outcomes. Life feels fuller, my career(s) keep evolving into better things, and even when I'm not struggling with any issues actively, I still love to have a session and reflect on the current state of life or possible future goals. Traditional counseling has served me decently in the past, but Lisa is 100x better for me since we can mix in everything from things like grief processing and inner child work, to career goals, to spiritual practice. Even if you're NOT in Vegas, you might want to consider a trip. He's *that* good. He also does sessions over the phone and Skype, so you have lots of options if a trip out west isn't in the cards for you right now. I live in Indianapolis, but got a chance to visit Elevation Center last month while I was in town. I'll admit that I was a little skeptical, never having had any experience with healing/energy work, but Al did a great job of explaining the process to me and making me feel comfortable. We talked about some really sensitive topics, but I never felt awkward or uncomfortable - you can tell that he genuinely wants to help you and will do whatever he can to get you to where you want to be. The night after our session, I fell asleep ridiculously early and slept like a baby. Two days later, I flew home with zero anxiety---that was huge, because I'm one of those people who always thinks the plane is about to crash at any minute for the entire flight. I'm a total worrier and worst-case scenario person, but in the weeks since my session with him, I've just felt ... calm. Happy.
