I went ahead and took pictures for you all to see the options on the menu, as well as the various interior of the parish Hall where the activity is held. They used to supply a DJ and music back in the day, but now it appears the only thing you're going to hear is the humdrum of a thousand conversations going on at the same time. LOL my catfish was good, and I went with a Coke zero to accommodate it. All in all a family event that is coming up on almost four decades. Not bad for an activity during the Lenten season.

The max that she said they could do was $1,000.00 which was totally fine with me because I could have token care of the rest however, she made up her own assumptions about my landlord and financial situation therefore she declined to help me. She stated that they could help with the utility bill since it was only 140 but that's about it. The volunteers discouraged the community from getting items, they belittled them and rushed them. Many people in these lines are women and the elderly; instead of providing help or just being patient, they ridiculed them for not being able to carry the items. Then they have the nerves to exploit the community for photo ops. As a church organization, and with any "ministry" you provide to the community, you represent Christ to that community and to the world. If you're giving to be seen or just to say you're doing something, then you might as well not do it. Scripture tells us about those kinds of people and what they are due. Matthew 6:1-4.

I attend this church at times because they have 8am service & you can be out of service by…read more9:45am.It is a friendly, loving, and caring church that makes everyone that is there feel the warmth and a good sense of love. There is singing, scripture reading, praying, then the sermon is delivered from the Holy Bible. The message is delivered in such captivating way with grace and occasional humor. One thing I truly like about the Church of Christ as a whole is if there is anything any in the audience dose not understand they are encourage to ask a questions and take out all confusion. After the message is delivered they take prayer request .Offering is taken up followed by the Lord supper. Once all of this is completed dismissal of service is around 10:00am. This is a rather a large church with a small parking lot but there is a lot of street parking close enough to walk to church. I also love the fact that this is a busy congregation offering marriage retreats, bible studied, workshops / seminars, feeding the homeless, Ethiopian mission work, social activities such as picnics, bowing and movie nights. St. Bernadette has been my parish home my entire life. I even went to elementary school here for a…read morefew years and it amazes me how I can still look to the back of the church during mass and see my kindergarten teacher Mrs. Chambers smiling at me, and Mr. Robinson, the man who would bring us popsicles in 2nd grade now a senior who walks the aisles during mass to greet everyone. I remember when we moved far away, and how as a tween I would outright refuse to attend mass unless we could travel the distance to St. Bernadette. It's no secret that I stay away for extended periods of time, but the feeling of home always remains, and when I return I'm always greeted with a welcoming embrace from parishioners who've known me forever. We have two relatively new priests who are phenomenal, and the reason for my improved attendance on Sunday's, along with a lively choir. St. Bernadette is a very welcoming and diverse church. I especially love how children are embraced and celebrated. Babies don't have to sit in the quiet room, and at the end of Sunday mass a children's bulletin is offered and we get to watch all the little ones walk down the aisle​ to be handed a bulletin, I think that's extra special. The facility is very nice, and everyone I encountered was kind, welcoming, and respectful. It felt like coming back home. There is a strong sense of community and history in that church. On a day that was heavy, West Angeles provided comfort, excellence, and love. For the way they serve people in both joy and sorrow, I am giving West Angeles Church of God in Christ 5 stars.

There is no place for hate in church. Pastor Charles E Blake lll has even spoken up about this issue in his sermons! He has called out staff to remind them that they are the first people we see when coming in and the exchange should be welcoming and warm. And that when members are in the parking lot coming or going, to be kind and treat each other with respect. I've seen the disrespect and hate from staff and members one too many times and it just doesn't sit right with our family anymore to be members.
