From the very beginning, we were drawn to their individualized academic approach, which truly allows each child to grow at their own pace while building confidence and a genuine love of learning. It has been incredible to watch our daughter thrive in an environment that recognizes her unique strengths and encourages her curiosity every single day. The teachers are absolutely amazing--warm, attentive, and deeply committed to making every child feel supported and valued. We especially appreciate all the extra thought and creativity that goes into making her early school years so memorable, from engaging activities to special events that bring so much joy to my daughter. Thanks to this wonderful community, our daughter's first experiences with school has been nothing short of extraordinary, and we are so grateful to be part of it.

The directors, administrative team, and teachers are truly exceptional. They bring so much intention, warmth, and care to everything they do. It is clear that they see and value each child as an individual, and they create an environment where children feel safe, confident, and inspired to explore the world around them. Our daughter has grown into such a thoughtful, curious, creative, and kind little person, and MAWA played an enormous role in that. She learned not just academic fundamentals, but how to be a good friend, how to express herself, how to ask questions, and how to move through the world with confidence and empathy. There is something truly magical about this school. It is a community in the fullest sense of the word, and the impact extends far beyond the classroom. We will always be grateful to MAWA for helping shape who our daughter is becoming. It is an extraordinary place, and any family would be lucky to be part of it.

It's a warm, home-based environment where children are truly allowed to be children. The teachers take the time to really get to know each child, treat them as unique individuals, and nurture their curiosity. I never once worried while they were there because I knew they were cared for, safe, and surrounded by love. My boys had the freedom to explore, create, and grow through art, play, hands-on learning, and the amazing yard where they could discover and enjoy nature. Every day felt special--full of creativity, laughter, and genuine care. They had such an interesting, rich preschool life that I will always treasure. KuiHwa, the preschool director, is a one-of-a-kind teacher whose warmth, wisdom, and dedication shine through in everything she does. She made such a difference in my children's early years and gave them the most beautiful start to their educational journey. Leaving was bittersweet, because we were so sad to say goodbye to such a special place. Seedlings Great and Small gave my children not just a foundation for school, but also a love of learning and a true sense of belonging. We will always be grateful for the incredible gift this preschool has been to our family.

We had been looking for a part time preschool (also has full time) that was still reasonably priced and flexible with their hours as my daughter became more accustomed to time away from home/me. I worked from home taking care of her full time so was only looking for a preschool that helped expose her to a routine and new friends. Seedlings checked all the boxes! Also LOVE that their program is year round - only breaks for a couple of weeks in summer/winter! Kuihwa and her staff feel like family. They supported my daughter in every way possible - encouraging her creativity, play, point of view and voice. Each day was like playing in a magical fairy garden and not one moment was cookie cutter or standard. We've made lifelong friends from this school and will always sing its praises! If you're looking for a less traditional, play based program where you child gets to be outside and express themselves through creativity and play, Seedlings is it!

I was initially hesitant about home daycares, but after seeing the facility, backyard, and daily activities, I knew this was the perfect fit. Since starting, my son has learned self-regulation, goes to sleep independently (something he never did at home!), and his language has absolutely exploded. He joined with a strong vocabulary and some ASL, but now he expresses himself in so many new ways- it's astonishing to watch. LUFLS is all about learning through doing. The kids explore a chicken coop, care for other animals, play in a dirt box and water stream, do art projects, and even have an independent handwashing station. Outdoors is a favorite; my son's top word is "outside!" Beyond outdoor play, LUFLS offers enrichment like yoga, drama, and gymnastics, and on lighter days the kids enjoy farmers markets, train rides, and beach trips. These experiences foster both community among the children and connections among the adults. Daily updates through ClassDojo keep parents connected, and I couldn't be more thrilled to have found this incredible daycare. I look forward to watching my son grow here.

The terrific facility has a spacious, shady backyard space, a creek, and a dirt play box with play shovels and trucks (which our kiddo loved during the tour). They also have chickens, with whom the kiddos get to interact and learn responsibility and empathy. I love that most of the day, weather permitting, the kids get ample outside time to continue learning. Hands down, the best reason to enroll is the expert and thoughtful staff. The amount of one-on-one time these kids get also shows how quickly our kiddo learned to read and write. The curriculum is also incredibly well-rounded, exposing the kids to different cultures and customs, fun and educational field trips that engage the kiddos, and weekly activities like gymnastics, yoga, and music. As a parent, I love that they focus on building a community for the kids, but they also want the parents to have a community. For some field trips, like apple picking, parents are encouraged to come along, but they also host kid-free gatherings for the parents, which is a great way to get to know everyone, including the staff. Additionally, Shaunte, Miss Sani, and the rest of the staff is incredibly supportive, not only in the areas where we wanted our kid to grow and learn, but also as a family when we've been going through tough times. Honestly, the LUFLS has been an extended family for us. One of the most valuable aspects of their team is how much they've allowed and helped our kiddo grow emotionally and build his resilience. Our kiddo is a sensitive introvert, and LUFLS has cultivated a safe and nurturing space for him so that he feels comfortable coming out of his shell so much that you might mistake him for an extrovert. I am sad we have to move on to Kinder in the fall, but I am so grateful knowing the Little Urban Farmers' team has helped my kid feel ready for this next big step, and I am thankful for all they've done for us.

The kids are challenged academically and it's been incredible to see how much our 4 year old has learned. Each month they focus on a different global destination and they also learn about social issues in an age-appropriate way. A place that follows cutting edge research and embraces a joyful and loving atmosphere and works to free kids from the drudgery most schools unthinkingly and ill advisedly embrace. Argo Navis always has its heart in the right place and does what's best for kids----even when it hurts their bottom line. They are concerned with education not schooling. Wow! As an educator for over 30 years, I can't imagine a better school for my child; simply put: she is thriving there! The small class sizes and personalized teacher attention make the school unparalleled. They know her and work to help her find her passion. My kid has always loved making little newspapers. Guess what Argo did? They helped and supported her dream and published a school newspaper that she spearheaded---all in breath-taking speed, held up only by her. LOL. I have been involved with every type of school there is and believe me, something like this would never have happened in them or if it did, it would have taken so long and by the time the slow wheels of bureaucracy got it done, the passion and interest would have long dissipated. Argo's travel and real world experiences are the icing upon the cake. Scuba diving, babysitting class, sailing, aerial, hip hop dancing, World Peace camp. YOWZA! Every day, my child is happy and excited to get to school and I am thrilled to get here there. It is priceless. Yay Argo!

Shama has been an amazing support, resource and caregiver to our son and his classmates. The small size of the school ensures children are given 1:1 attention and support and are able to develop close relationships with their classmates as well. I genuinely believe that she cares deeply about our son, his development, happiness and overall growth. While enrolled in Shama's school, our son developed massively both socially and emotionally. He learned how to be a thoughtful, caring schoolmate and friend; learned his ABCs and even began spelling at the age of 3; and became more independent and adventurous. Shama is focused on helping to make not just her students lives better, but their parent's too. My husband had to go unexpectedly out of town when I was 8 months pregnant, and Shama allowed us to extend our son's days at daycare at a moment's notice to make our lives easier. She is fair, flexible and accommodating. I feel lucky to have been part of her community!

The outdoor space is truly magical, a green haven with a tree house, slide, swing, sandpit, and lots of flowers and trees. It feels like a little world just for the kids. What really sets Village Peace apart is the woman who leads it, Shama. She is kind, joyful and creative. She brings so much intention to her care, fostering independence while offering comfort and fun. Her assistant is equally wonderful, speaking both English and Spanish with the children, and has even become our trusted babysitter outside daycare hours because our boys love her so much. There's a true sense of community among the parents, everyone knows each other, and it feels like we're part of a village raising our kids together. We entrusted Village Peace with both our sons starting at 15 months old, and it's been a place where they've grown, thrived, and been so clearly loved. We especially appreciated the support during the potty training stage, they were encouraging, patient, and respectful of each child's own rhythm. If you're looking for a nurturing, peaceful, and enriching daycare in the Fairfax/Venice-Pico area, I can't recommend Village Peace enough!

The biggest, loudest red flag is their snack menu: skinny POPCORN and RAISINS, two of the most commonly known choking hazards. The admin confirmed their snack schedule is up to date, and indicated "nothing has ever happened before" when questioned about the popcorn and raisins. Well, I'm glad none of the kids under your supervision have choked as a result, but that doesn't mean it can't happen. Any decent preschool / day care would not endanger their littles. On top of that, the teachers looked tired and the playrooms underwhelming. I observed a couple of children practicing writing, yet they seemed dim and not as engaged or as happy as other kids I've observed at other schools. No, I would not recommend this place. I would stay far away.
