She told me about this great inexpensive massage guy that did wonders for her feet. I felt so bad that I just wanted to go home, take some pain medications, and crawl into bed. That's when she told me I didn't have anymore excuses because Nova Massage Therapy will only come to my house. I gave in and after dinner gave them a call. The owner, Sam Kline, picked up, gave me the rates, told me they only take cash / or paypal, and within one hour was at my home. I was a little nervous having a total stranger come to my house. I live in the country, I have a lot of animals, in a really small place, and not a whole lot of room. I made sure to tell him that I have many skin allergies and he would have to bring unscented products with him. First good sign upon his arrival was that my dogs liked him, LOL! We sat down in the living room, talked for a while, and he gave me some forms to fill out. A short medical history, more information about my allergies, specifics about my painful areas, and I was impressed at how thorough it was. Usually when I get a massage at the nail place down the road they don't ask a lot of questions and barely understand what I'm saying. Sam asked to be shown what room to set up in so he could get everything ready while I filled out the forms. After he sat down with me to review the forms and asked me what kind of massage I was looking for. That's when I found out he was also a Reiki Master and would do energy work on me. We walked into my bedroom and he had set up a massage table in the middle of the room. I was impressed with the electrical candles which means no triggering my allergies for me. The candles were a wonderful touch along with the meditation music playing on his CD player. We did have to remove three cats from the set up massage table but Sam was humored by it. He left the room, asked me to undress to my level of comfort, and asked me to lay on the table, under the sheet, and facing up. During the beginning of the massage Sam quickly realized that just lifting my arms caused me so much pain it caused me to cry. He stopped the massage, put his hands under my neck, and then I felt something I've never felt before. It was like waves of energy were pulsing out of his hands, into my head, and down my spine. It was like being lightly shocked by electricity, but not in a bad way, and continuously for 10 minutes. When he finished he lifted my arm and my pain was reduced by half. I am a true believer in the power of Reiki now! He massaged my shoulders while I was laying face up which I haven't had done before. It just seemed like the muscles were being hit better then massages I got face down. At one point he hit a tender spot on my back and by massaging it all the pain drained out of my left hand. He eventually asked me to flip over and the sheet was big enough to avoid exposing myself. I have bad feet and hands also due to injury which were wonderfully massaged. He didn't miss a single spot and spent extra time on the sore places indicated on my intake form. Sam was professional, friendly, good to my animals, respectful of my home, and arrived on time. The massage was 90 minutes, cost me $100, and made me realize that there are big differences in the quality of Massage people. I've been getting massage at a corner beauty salon when I should have been getting it from a professional massage therapist / Reiki Master all along. Normally it takes about two days for the pain to return but afterwards no pain returned and I've even gone back to working out!

11/5/22 One for the money…read more Two for the show. Three to make ready and four to go. I can now say I only made it as far as four massage places this weekend. Oasis Spa is the second place I visited on Saturday night. This place is apparently the softer side of massage compared to Concept Spa. Nevertheless, I went here after Concept Spa. Oasis Spa is right around the corner from Concept Spa, but it is located on the second floor unlike Concept Spa. I noticed the the door was unlocked so you can walk in instead of having to ring the doorbell. I saw there were some empty wasp nests above the door entrance. The Ideas to knock them down did come to mind, but I didn't. The picture of the lady getting massaged on the second floor looked familiar. Like I have seen this promotional photo used elsewhere. I was greeted by Lee at the top of the stairs. She appeared to be in a standard uniform, but then I saw her partners in another room and realized there is no standard dress code. I was lead to a room that had a simi-see thru door. There was a decoration window that looked like it could be see-through, but probably wasn't. Lee asked how long I wanted to go for and I went with an hour. If you pay by credit card or check card, there is a $5 dallor fee to be added to your bill. The Massage: After getting onto the massage table, I noticed right off the back the heated mattress pad warming up my body. This was a huge plus compared to the other place I went to. Lee's massage wasn't as strong as the previous place I visited, but she did increase the pressure as time went on. A lot of the massage wasn't elbows and forearms like a number of other massage places I have visited. This was definitely more body rub style than actual massage. Still, Lee used her hands when it came to doing the glutes and thighs. The feet were not massaged, so if this is something you want done, be sure to let your massage therapist know. Lee's Swedish Body Rub worked for me, because the other lady at Concept Spa did a lot of the work at removing knots in my back. If I had done two hours of Lee's Massage, her soft touch could have put me to sleep. I will definitely come back here for another go. I did notice that the bathroom lights didn't work properly, but a lady (not Lee) did a special code on the lights to get them to work. Nifty. The woman (not Lee) seemed to be in a bad mood, but she sounded happy before her female client left. Oh well, things happen I shall return and soon.

Unfortunately, it can also sometimes make me a harsh critic; in other words, my standards are quite high. I've lived in Virginia for 9 years. In those years, I can literally count just one therapist that I experienced that exceeded my expectations, prior to this massage. All others fell short...and I don't mean "just barely". I mean so bad, they made me question whether they actually received an education, or were simply hanging fraudulent certifications and licensures on their walls. Stress Free Therapeutic Massage (Miss Lydia) reminded me of how remarkable a skilled massage therapist can be. From start to finish, she was indeed incredible! My husband purchased me a 90 minute Groupon. After leaving a message on her voicemail, I received a text message, requesting that I visit the website to schedule. She was booked out somewhat ahead, which now makes perfect sense. As someone who's worked in the field, I understand the importance of being on time for your appointment; there is often paperwork involved for first time visits, and most therapists run a pretty tight schedule, not allowing much idle time between clients. Therefore, if you're late, it runs into the next clients appointment, leaving the therapist faced with cutting your time short, which is often a difficult decision, because they certainly don't want to lose you as a client either. Finding the facility was somewhat tricky for me; I had a small commute to the office, and I wasn't familiar with the area. For reference, this place sits in the back of a building that says "Chiropractor" on the front. If you're looking at Pancho Villa, it's right to the left of the restaurant. Parking is in a lot in the back of the building. Lydia's office is up the steps, to the second floor. Upon arrival (at just after 1pm for my 1:30pm appointment), one of her clients was just heading out. Just as expected, I had some short paperwork, and she got me in 10 minutes early, at 1:20pm. She started with me face down, which ironically is my preferred method. She started on my back, focusing on my noted trouble points (low back and neck). Her pressure remained steady and consistent throughout the massage, showing that she was a seasoned professional. She has great deal of physical stamina and excellent manual dexterity. I personally prefer a firm pressure, and she achieved the perfect level of pressure throughout. She ended the massage just on time, at 10 till 3pm. At no point did I feel like I wasn't receiving the upmost attention and care. Lydia remained professional and skilled, utilizing a variety of techniques. She possesses the ability to use different modalities/approaches to address her clients' needs. Her facility is clean, her demeanor is warm, welcoming and professional. I highly recommend her!
