Tramonto is one of the nicer fine dining restaurants at Vidanta. Italiano! I love a good bread basket with olive oil and balsamic to dip, they had a variety of offerings from focaccia to seeded breads and even a Parmesan stick. We enjoyed spicy penne, carbonara, vodka sauce, a green salad and cocktails. Our server was prompt and helpful. All of our entrees were lovely although the spicy penne could've used more kick. This was a Tuesday evening and the 4 of us went to Tramonto Italian restaurant in Vidanta (Nuevo Vallarta) for Prime Rib nite. We had a wonderful table dressed in a gorgeous tablecloth. The special included a salad, minestrone soup , prime rib with mashed potatoes and mixed vegetables. They adhered to our request for No Onions because of an allergy. A lovely bread basket was set on the table gratis is a variety of items. Oil and balsamic vinegar and butter were there also. The food was brought out on a timely basis. Unfortunately the soup was lukewarm but still very tasty. The prime rib temperature orders were unfortunately not cooked according to how we requested. But they were quick to fix. The prime rib was a huge piece, tender and very seasoned- in some cases overly salted. We all had doggy bags. We did not order dessert because we were going to indulge at the entertainment center. The rating of this restaurant on Yelp almost stopped us from eating at this restaurant. However if you look at google reviews and open table reviews they are rated highly. It has been our best meal while in puerto/nuevo Vallarta. Everyone wiped their plates clean. First their bread/ cracker baskets were soooo yummy. Then we all ordered something different. Seabass, Alfredo chicken, Parpadelli mushroom, rigatoni with shrimp and I had the strawberry salad. We would all order our dishes again. Service was very good too. The only constant issue we've had anywhere is we like our dishes served piping hot. Everywhere we've been here that hasn't happened. Ambience is beautiful. Still we really enjoyed this restaurant. The main thing that this place has going for it is theatrics. The cheese grater guy will put cheese on a piece of cardboard and make it fancy. I had Minestrone Alla Genovese. It took 2 servers to fill my bowl with salty red tomato water at the table, also part of the theatrics. The pasta was 10-12 broken pieces (maybe 3-4" long) of angel hair pasta accompanied by approximately an eighth cup of small white beans, a 1" sprig of broccoli and cauliflower about the same size. $230 pesos. I also ordered Insalata Di Farro E Tonno Fresco. The flavor was good. The three 1" cubes of tuna were nicely positioned in front of the shredded carrots with peppers and onions. $260 pesos. My husband ordered Fettuccine Al Fredo. He tried to order it with beef but the waiter refused to give him the price for beef so he had chicken. He said that the sauce was delicious, but the noodles were stuck together. The chicken was cut in tiny strips and was dry. $395 pesos The service (aside from the masterful cheese grating) was wanting. I'm sure they were disappointed by our orders as all but one of us opted for water over alcohol. Tromonto is the place to go if you want to dress up and be entertained by the food delivery. It was definitely our most disappointing meal at the Vidanta resort. It's pricey, and low fat, healthy options were wanting in my opinion. Meh. Out of all of the places we ate at Vidanta, this was my least favorite. Not quite sure why I thought Italian food in Mexico would be good. We had a reservation made by our concierge for our honeymoon. We arrived and were seated by multiple families with loud children. Didn't appreciate this as it was supposed to be a nice romantic meal with my husband. They brought us out bread and oil, along with our menus and a wine menu. The breads were good- there was an assortment of different types. I ended up ordering the saffron risotto which had shrimp, and my husband ordered the lasagna. He really loved his lasagna because he said the sauce seemed like it was made very fresh and wasn't too heavy. I was not a fan of my risotto- it seemed like something that came out of a box. I thought that since our concierge had put it was our honeymoon on our card that they would have had a cute dessert come out or seat us somewhere nicer- but nope, nothing. It also lacked flavor. The chicken parmigiana was ok and at least edible. The shrimp dish was so salty it was not edible. I reported this to the staff but no compensation was made. This restaurant by far is one of the finest restaurants on the property. Our first night of dining there we were treated to homemade squid ink pasta with fresh seafood Paccheri pasta with clams, shrimp, and cherry tomatoes. And by fresh I mean it was as fresh as just swimming out of the ocean and onto our plates. The texture of the pasta leaves one no doubt that it was crafted lovingly with quality ingredients meticulously kneaded by hand. The texture and the give of the pasta was delicate, chewy, with a silky finish. Then without any queue to Ramon(our most excellent waiter), he emerged with a homemade chocolate and fresh raspberry dessert platter. The Mousse portion of the chocolate deliciously melted in your mouth and it was a great way to finish this Fantastic gourmet meal. At conclusion, Ramon promised if we return the following evening he would ask the chef to prepare something special. After careful review of other property restaurant menus, we allowed Ramon to outdo himself. And boy did he ever! Ramon remembered how we love seafood, presented to us accompanied with the manager and the chef, a creation of delicate sea bass with a spinach creamy beur blanc sauce along with saffron covered fresh lobster tail. The lobster was presented with a beautiful homemade capellini pasta with sauteed mushrooms. Outstanding food quality, presentation and most of all customer service is what one would get dining at #tramonto This was a fine dining experience that will forever be in our list of favorites! A detracting element for the restaurant - all the dishes we ordered (the warm dishes) arrived at the table luke-warm. Not a terrible thing, but not a great experience for a $250 meal. A few of the items on the menu were unavailable - including a number of the bottles of wine. The sommelier helped me to pick a very interesting Mexican wine - I'd never had Mexican wine before - and the wine was a unique blend of old world and new range varietals. A very nice bottle. Our service was very attentive and polite - and this made the meal more enjoyable. However, based solely on price point and quality of food stuffs, I'd rate the place a 3-star experience; but when adding in the service and the interesting selection of Mexican wines, along with the in-house made pastas - it deserves a 4-star rating. I ordered the Catch of the Day which ended up being a fish name that I didn't know, and do not remember; but it was light, flaky, & tasted very similar to sea bass. The sauce that it came with was delicious. I would definitely get again. For dessert, I would recommend the tiramisu as it is extremely moist. We didn't have formal clothing so we had to order out and pick it up. I ordered the ravioli for my daughter, pasta Bolognese for me and also the mozzarella Caprese. The caprese was very good. It was tomato and mozzarella slices drizzled with pesto and a basil leaf in the middle. My daughter had the raviolis and she liked the raviolis but not the sauce. I was kind of disappointed with my plate because the sauce was pretty thick and they didn't give me the noodles I had wanted. Group of four our 2nd night dining, one wanted steak so we went to the "Italian Steak House" He ordered his steak medium well and was disappointed it came pink in the middle and sent it back. (Seriously though, why order the most expensive steak and then have it tuned into shoe leather?!) It was still pink, but certainly not bloody so his wife made him eat it. I'm with the kitchen and the wife on this one. Pastas were house made and good, my husband liked his lasagna. I had the Mahi Mahi, which was served with ravioli and creamed spinach. The one ravioli I got (it did say ravioli, not raviolis) was good but too literal as it would have been nice to have more than one. One the other hand, the creamed spinach was more like spinached cream. The cream was VERY good, very caloric and the spinach very fresh, but would have like more spinach, less cream. So, if you HAVE to go to a steak place In Nayarit, it was nice (but noisy with kids)...I'm pushing for more traditional seafood or Mexican from now on though. read more

It's average! First of all, once you get to the restaurant, you're in this massive area and you'd think it's empty! The dining area is actually inside, out of sight. Then our concierge made reservations (I was right there when our concierge did it. Whoever took our reservation wrote it in water!). When we got there, no reservations! Huh! Thought we were going to have to look for a different place to eat but they accommodated us anyway. Ay yay yay! The drinks were good, what could go wrong with sapphire martini! The food was average. So we came here for breakfast once and dinner once. Both were very underwhelming, although dinner was at least good. First, I'll start with breakfast. When we sat down our waiter informed us that you could get bottomless mimosa's for $15 per person. I specifically asked if you had to put OJ in the champagne and he said no. We ordered. Champagne shows up and they pour half a glass at a time, while filling the remainder of the glass up with OJ. Second time around, I asked if I could just get champagne or if they had any other juices. He filled my glass half way with champagne. Even though our glasses were empty, we always had to call someone over to provide us with more champagne. After a few half glasses of just champagne, the waiter told me that I couldn't have anymore champagne per his boss. Apparently, you must have OJ in your champagne. I said fine. For the remainder of our breakfast we continually had to call them over for more champagne. The food. Breakfast was ok. Dinner food was better, but the risotto did not taste good. The scallops were bay scallops, not sea scallops. All in all, the place was just ok. read more

Nice italian restaurant in the Grand Mayan resort. We went several times on our vacation and were pleased each time. They serve a delicious assortment of breads to start with oil and vinegar. It was pretty bland, but at least the calamari was not greasy. I had the stuffed pasta and the red sauce was too sweet; not at all true Italian. My husband had the carbonara and it was the best dish that night, but wasn't great. My daughter refused to eat her chicken fingers because she said they had a weird flavor. My son only had a few bites of his pizza because it was soggy and bland; it seems like microwave pizza. It was called "pepperoni" pizza on the menu, but it is really ham. The meal had, not sure what the hell was in it. It's as if very hard pieces of plastic was in it. I mean hard black stuff in it, they said it was prashuto.
