Liesel Farm

Liesel Farm

I had a very difficult experience with Liesel Farm as my wedding venue, and I'd encourage future…read morebrides to look elsewhere. My husband and I were married here on April 18, 2026. Throughout planning, I found the management inconsistent and inflexible, and it often felt like the goalposts were shifting. After the wedding, we took Liesel Farm to small claims court and the court ruled in our favor! Even with that resolution, I believe brides and their families will save themselves a lot of tears and headaches by choosing a different venue. I could write a novel on everything my family and I went through, but I'll keep this factual and limit it to two specific examples so you can weigh it yourself: 1. We agreed to rent a white bar from Liesel Farm for cocktail hour for $495. On the morning of the wedding, management requested that we pay the invoice. Shortly after confirming that payment was received, management told us we would not be allowed to use the bar and no refund would be issued (despite requesting and accepting payment only moments earlier). With the ceremony only hours away, there was nothing we could do. 2. Before the wedding, we paid the required $5,000 damage deposit. After the wedding, the venue did not return it, even though there was no damage to the property. After the wedding, my family filed in Fayette County small claims court to recover part of what we'd paid. On September 11, 2026, the court ruled in our favor on the two large claims, awarding $5,495 plus filing fees for the damage deposit ($5,000) and the white bar charge ($495). The venue has since paid the judgment. Beyond the items covered in the lawsuit, planning with Liesel Farm was consistently difficult, in stark contrast to every other vendor we hired, all of whom were kind, communicative, and clearly loved their work. The venue runs extremely lean, and it showed. Communication was slow and inconsistent, and on multiple occasions management would not respond directly to me, my mom, or our wedding coordinator, instead routing messages through our wedding coordinator's colleague, making getting direct answers take much longer than it should have. Before signing, communication was frequent, positive, and encouraging. After signing, responsiveness dropped sharply and the tone became noticeably less accommodating. As a bride planning from out of town, I never felt like our wedding was a priority, and it was disheartening. My advice: if you're considering Liesel Farm, try to find a recent bride who enjoyed her experience. If you can't find a single one online or through social media, look elsewhere. If you do move forward with Liesel Farm, get everything in writing, record every verbal agreement, and have a lawyer review the contract. Choosing Liesel Farm was the biggest mistake my family and I made related to my wedding, and I hope future brides heed this warning!

From the owner: Liesel Farm is a stunning setting that exists outside of time and beyond all expectations. From JB and his wife in the back, to Kelly and Vivienne up front, this is old fashioned Texas hospitality where you come in a stranger and leave with new family members, genuinely incredible human beings that make this gem flow. Known for their insane pies, you'll understand quite quickly why they are the king of the pies. For me personally though, I get hands down the greatest iced tea in America (which really means the world when it comes to iced tea hahaha), an order of the crunchiest, juiciest fried chicken, and finish it off with loads of mashed potatoes. Literally stuff myself into the greatest dirt nap our Good Lord allows us to have. Extremely eclectic inside, showing you the incredible history and people that have made Royers the hidden gem of gems in the Texas hill country. Don't be bringing your holier than thou mindset here, you'll be the odd one out, get comfortable chatting with your neighbors and enjoying what old community used to be like. Round Top is a great little town, to say the least. But only one can be on top and Royers is the ONE.

This was the 2nd year in a row that my husband and I stayed at Wellspring. I found it last year by accident when searching for a place to stay in Round Top, and I'm so glad I did! We like to attend the Shakespeare at Winedale plays (highly recommend if you're a Shakespeare fan), so late July and early August are times that we're in the area. I anticipate coming back again and again. Linda was out of town during our stay this time, but Sherri, labeled as "the best help in the world" on their info, proved herself to be exactly that. She took excellent care of us and provided a scrumptious breakfast! We met Linda last year, and she was very knowledgeable about the area (with suggestions of things to see and do) as well as telling us some of the history of the Depot. Speaking of The Depot, do yourself a favor and reserve it! I promise you won't be disappointed. The rooms are lovely, and even on a hot summer night, we went out on the deck and rocked back and forth while looking at the stars (we saw 4 meteors, the International Space Station, and several other satellites).

Linda has a gift of decorating and much knowledge of where to go when looking for certain things during the show. Hospitality is wonderful here. Food is over the top good and plenty of it. You feel like you are at home. Super clean and each room is decorated with a certain theme all of course full of antiques. Gorgeous area as well.

Beautiful beautiful restaurant in the heart of Round Top…read more Classy, charming, beautiful. We came to celebrate my friends birthday, I will highly recommend doing a reservation. They have a very nice set up when you walk in on your right hand side they have the gorgeous bar, then on your left you walk into the main dining room, they have a second bar with tables and they have a patio. Also, they have a lower level with tables and a cellar. The cocktail Manuel is not too extensive, but they have the basic stuff. I order a French 75, but it wasn't of my liking, and I switched it for an Afro spirit, which was very good. We only ordered the bread service, which I will tell you this is one of the best bread that I have tried, is soft fluffy, and sweet. They bring it with a side of butter and olive oil oil. I ordered the Caesar salad and I was blown with the flavor. It's very unique because they are the letters and they make their own Caesar dressing it was outstanding. I ordered the carbonara pasta, it was OK nothing extraordinary, my friend ordered the Wago steak, this was not a Japanese Wagyu, it was about $100 and it was massive, the flavor was OK but nothing outstanding. I do not recommend to get the Wago. The chicken mayonnaise was very good tho. Service was good, but I would say overall the food is just gay the start of the night with the Caesar salad.

How fabulous it is to have this incredible venue half way between Austin and Houston. Either of those cities would love to Festival Hall within their city limits. But here it is, in rural Round Top. That said, Round Top is a great little city with nice dining options, great antique shops and more. We're really glad we discovered this gem!! They usually feature classical music, but today they invited the Houston Jazz Orchestra, a full 17- piece jazz band, and the first such big band to play at Festival Hall in their 50 year history. They gave a great performance. They were all so very talented and passionate about music. And a film crew was there recording the whole concert, which was interesting to watch. It was open seating. $30 per ticket (reasonable), with no food or drinks allowed or offered in the venue, even at intermission. But that made the intermission shorter. And I wouldn't allow food or drinks in there, either. The entire venue is a work of art. Even the floors are solid wood laid out in a herringbone pattern. They really went all out! We'll monitor their events and we'll be back. We may even bring a few friends with us. What a great place!
