Back with an update for the Cleveland Ave location. They've recently reorganized the store, and it's a significant improvement. The Update: The new layout isn't just about moving aisles; it's about a much smarter distribution of the food categories. Everything feels more intuitive now--the way the different sections are grouped makes it much faster to get through a grocery list. It feels less cluttered and more like a high-end market flow. The "Must-Haves": As always, the selection is fantastic. My staples remain: * Frozen Wild Shrimp: Unbeatable quality. * Cheese Selection: Best variety in Santa Rosa for the price. * Snacks & Dog Treats: Always have to stock up for the house and for Lisi. The Catch: The parking and egress remain the primary "headache." It's still a tight squeeze getting in, and getting back out onto Cleveland Ave continues to be a challenge. You definitely need a bit of "uncompromising discipline" and patience to navigate the lot! Bottom Line: The interior reorganization is a total win. What's not to love?! I love the small town grocery vibe, the fresh produce, the prices, the workers. This Trader Joe's is a whole vibe. I will admit parking is rough and it's almost always busy but even the customers are usually friendly, definitely no one is road raging in the parking lot. During lunchtime hours there's samples! I stop in regularly to grab a salad and kombucha for lunch and always end up buying way more. Even their skin care and house cleaning supplies are pretty good and always a great price compared to anywhere else. read more

I love Trader Joe's, and I love this Trader Joe's location. Can the staff be any nicer or more helpful?! Even when they're busy, there are always staff about to help, and the registers are well-staffed to move any lines quickly. Food prices everywhere are starting to feel insane. But TJ's continues to offer affordable prices and an enjoyable shopping experience. I don't get to TJ's as often as I'd like to, but when I do, I stock up on essentials. Yesterday's take-home items included: -cheeses!!! (manchego, rosemary asiago, and local Marin French Cheese) -yogurt -walnuts (I didn't see my fave slivered almonds) -chia seeds -hemp -organic blueberries and raspberries - how are their blueberries so much more reasonable than those at every other local market? I don't know, but I'll take em! -bananas -garbanzo beans -coconut milk -oats -quinoa -lentils -sweet potatoes I appreciate that they offer local cheeses and wines (and local Straus yogurt, under their TJ's brand label). And the wine staff are always available to guide you if needed. I occasionally buy meat for my husband here. I do sometimes buy produce here but often like to buy local farm-fresh produce at another small market near me. My only challenge with this location: making a left out of their parking lot during rush hour! Don't do it! Save yourself and others the stress and just make a right and go a little out of the way. Of the two Trader Joe's locations in Santa Rosa, the Cleveland Ave. location is the 'good' Trader Joe's. I say this because if you time your visit just right, you are still able to find a few sweet times during the day and evening to slow-shop or shop at your own pace. You may even find parking aplenty! Sorry, I'm not sharing the exact times of my go-to sweet shopping hours, but you are a smart cookie and I trust you will find your own! Heads up! Cleveland Ave. has changed from two vehicle lanes to one vehicle lane and one bicycle lane. Silly! I saw a confused driver still using the bicycle lane for driving and have an impromptu meeting with SRPD. read more

I love Trader Joe's, and this location is convenient for me to stop at while on the way home. The staff are all very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They can always point me in the right direction of what I'm looking for if needed. The registers are always well staffed and the lines move quickly, so it's very efficient. One of the things I like most is that the food prices are reasonable compared to other grocery stores so your money feels like it goes a bit farther. It's an enjoyable shopping experience and everything is laid out well in the store, which makes it easy to find what you are looking for. I like that they also carry local products and appreciate that they support our local small businesses and farms/ranches and not just the big names. The only thing that stresses me out is their parking lot because it is small so it can be hard to find parking and making a left onto the street after shopping here is nearly impossible. Do yourself a favor and those backed up behind you and make a right and turn around at the next most convenient spot possible. I would recommend shopping here not on the weekends and not during rush hour if at all possible because it will be less populated. I also recommend if you are wanting eggs, since we are currently in an egg shortage, to go in the morning since they get a daily supply of eggs every morning that often sells out by the evening. LOST A LOYAL CUSTOMER I am a 43 year old married woman with 7 children and I had two bottles of wine in my cart for tonight's seafood pasta dinner with guests. I am usually not carded and today I didn't have my ID on me but I did have a clear photo on my phone of my valid ID. The clerk carded me, wedding ring, children in tow, laugh lines, very obvious maturity and all. i offered the photo and he refused to even look at it. So I got my husband to come in and finish the transaction but they wouldn't sell to him either because I had picked the wine out. They ridiculously decided to treat the whole situation as though he were buying booz for a teenager. I demanded to see a manager and when he showed up he was only 25 and lacking in all common sense and life experience and decided to start power tripping with a smile on his face. I have a 22 year old daughter and I had to be told by this child that my husband can't buy the wine I picked for tonight's dinner event. Because any of them actually believed I was a minor?? Absolutely not. I called the supervisor above him and he decided to power trip as well and stood behind their poor choices and made a scene about not allowing my husband to purchase the wine we needed for our dinner event. It Was ridiculous, humiliating, enraging, and unnecessary. All this made us late to pick up our other children from swim team and made this evenings dinner event late because we had to make yet another stop to buy wine somewhere else. I will never shop here again because they refuse to use common sense, recognize a grown married matron and mother standing in front of them. They put their ridiculous mentality over treating a family right and with respect. They humiliated us and that young manager is TOO YOUNG for his position because he has no common sense or humanity. I've been going to this Trader Joe's location for over thirty years. Great selection of food and specialty items that I can't find anywhere else. It's always busy no matter what time I go, but I don't care about that. It's been my experience that the workers there are always friendly, helpful, positive and go out of their way to answer a question. My last time there this past Wednesday night, at closing, as I was being rung up, I had the most pleasant conversation with an employee. Does not have adequate parking I came today to Stop & Shop and I am going to shop elsewhere due to their not being any parking available and also no staff employees, etc. to make sure that people are not becoming aggressive due to their not being enough parking. The ambiance is like any standard location. It's smaller than some I've seen like on Polk in SF but they had everything I needed. I love the What's New wall and seeing what creative items they've come up with. The employees were all quite friendly and seemed to be enjoying their time that day. The new item I got was the Aglio seasoning. Mild Italian spice kick that won't overwhelm with chilies. Fav drink is the Sparkling coconut water with Yuzu. The parking lot is chaotic and is shared with other businesses. I did not enjoy my time trying to depart without being hit because people drive behind you as you're backing out. The drivers did not care that you're half way out. Not one, 4 cars continued driving behind me as I was backing out of the space. read more

We do not have a Trader Joe's in our city. But whenever we are visiting friends or family and the is a TJ's near, we will always make sure to stock up. The products are always fresh, reasonably priced, and the customer service is without equal. With only 5,000 items in the store (compared to 70,000 in the average grocery chain store) it is much easier to find what you're looking for. Checkout is always quick and friendly. read more

Let the shopping begin! It's been 2 months since venturing out to TJ's and -WOW-very impressed with what the Cleveland location is doing to keep ALL of us safe. This location has definitely taken measures to ensure customers and Staff are safe. I waited in line outside and at checkout because they are limiting the number of people in the stores-but the wait time is minimal and goes fast! TJ is also alternating open registers for regular cleanings and suspending the use of reusable bags for bagging groceries at the registers. So leave your bags at home . Overall, TJ provides a: welcoming atmosphere, fast checkouts, above and beyond cleaning expectations, hosts a courteous staff, and provides a vast array of wonderful and unique merchandise selection (Flower section is outstanding) not to mention ...the prices are almost a steal. I have shopped at Trader Joe's stores for many years from the first one that opened in California in the San Fernando Valley. The staff of all of the stores I have been in are always upbeat, helpful and seem happy to be there even during COVID. They constantly have new seasonally themed products plus most of the basics. If you buy something and don't like it they take it back, no questions asked. Lots of vegan and vegetarian options as well. Feel much better shopping there than at the chain supermarkets. read more

This Trader Joe's was smoke damaged by the October Tubbs fire of 2017. It took them over a year to fix the damage and remodel the store. I went on a Sunday morning and it wasn't too crowded. I usually to go the Trader Joe's on Santa Rosa Avenue so I wanted to try this one after the remodel. First, the Cleveland location is a bigger store and they carry items that the Santa Rosa Avenue store doesn't have. I bought a "box Chardonnay" Australian wine that the other store doesn't have. Ok, don't laugh, it's pretty good with a slight hint of oak and drier than the crappy box wines at the supermarket. I also bought a turkey spinach swiss cheese wrap, shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce, and creamy chicken/poblano ravioli located in the refrigerated section. This location has a pre-made deli section that has a large selection. They have a variety of meat and vegetarian wraps, sushi, and salads. I'll have to go back and pick up a few salads and some sushi next time. I highly recommend visiting this store and trying out some of the items that are not available at the other Trader Joe's. read more

I took my 90 year old father shopping last Saturday. As with all our experiences with TJs, all went well from the food selection to the friendly cashier. As luck would have it, rain pounded the pavement just before we exited the store. Haley, a store employee, ran up to us with an umbrella and offered her services to escort us to the car. Initially, I declined but she persisted. Grateful for the assistance, I led the way to our car. Haley kept Dad (in a wheelchair) and I dry. She even stayed and helped him into the car. I have been a Trader Joe's fan for years. When I try their products, it's always a pleasant surprise how good they are. I have many favorites I have to have in my pantry or freezer. What I really want to talk about is their customer service. It is such a pleasure shopping at TJs. I have always been greeted with a smile and if I need help, employees give their honest food reviews. During COVID-19 I truly appreciate all the safety measures they have, starting with 6 ft spacing in line. When I arrive at the front of the line, I get a squirt of hand sanitizer and when someone leaves I can enter the store with a freshly sanitized cart. I love TJ's. I have been writing to the main office and asking them for a Traders in Ukiah. It's crazy that the closest one is in Santa Rosa! I was at TJ's and asked a checker if they knew any good news for us, and he said Costco didn't want Traders to come in to Ukiah. That is ridiculous! Busy store, parking lot is mostly jammed. Someday someone will be broadsided by the poorly executed driveway on a busy street with a blind curve. Many shoppers are seniors, so plan on it happening! Then maybe the City Planners will create a safer exit. Otherwise....the store is clean, cramped, items are priced fairly, the staff is very accommodating! This Trader Joe's is located just off Hwy 101 on the north end of Santa Rosa. It's a medium/large store with a good selection of products and organized, well-stocked isles. The staff is friendly and the produce is fresh. The food is tasty and in their freezer section they currently have boxes of a dozen macaroons (2 x 6 flavors) for $4.99! How can you beat that! Parking can be a little difficult because this location is so popular, but that's really the only downside. I definitely love shopping here. read more

We've been coming here for several years. It's the best! I recently lost a gold and sapphire ring that I made myself about 30 years ago. After looking everywhere in the car and at home, I called to see if Trader Joe's had a lost and found, not really thinking the ring would still be there. It was there! Some incredibly honest person had turned it in! I was able to be reunited with my ring the next day!!! How often does that kind of thing happen these days. You've seen one TJ's, you've seen them all. Corporate cookie-cutter formula. A few of the frozen, canned, packaged items are tasty. Most are not. You know the low prices reflect the mass quantity pasty flavored goods with the Trader Joe's label. The "fresh" produce often isn't (fresh). What's the most important factor to rate a suburban TJ's? The parking lot size & crowdedness. This one is often full and the frustrated drivers act out poorly. Pulling into or out from the driveway onto Cleveland ave where the cars zoom past at 60mph is risky business. I've nearly been creamed there several times.
