I've been a loyal customer at this Trader Joe's in Chino Hills for the past six years, and I usually have great experiences here. The staff is typically friendly, helpful, and welcoming. That's why my visit today really caught me off guard. While I was grabbing something from the refrigerated section, a worker (wearing faded black jeans, a navy hoodie, and her hair in a tight bun) was restocking salads. I tried to be polite and told her it was okay for her to go ahead, since she was working. Instead of a friendly response, she told me "no, go" in a pretty rude tone. I reassured her I was just looking, but she responded with, "well it's gonna take me a while, I have to reload all these salads," and gave me a dirty look. It was honestly surprising and uncomfortable, especially because this location is usually known for its great customer service. I understand everyone can have an off day, but the interaction felt unnecessarily dismissive and unfriendly. Hoping this was just a one-off experience, because I've always enjoyed shopping here. So I really do believe that customer service can make or break a place no matter what the ambience or the prices. I am a big fan of Trader Joe's anyway, and then when I come to Chino Hills once in a while after work on a Saturday, I am reminded of how a team of hard-working individuals can make people feel super welcome and super glad that they shopped at a place. Today I saw several staff helping customers to find specific items and despite the long lines of Saturday shoppers, it seemed that all of the cashiers and people bagging groceries still took the time to ask about peoples days, while they also efficiently got them through to the rest of the days. I like Trader Joe's and hope they open one in my city. The closest Trader Joe's near me are the ones in San Dimas and Chino Hills. This Trader Joe's is clean and neat and they have many TJ goodies available. However, they are always crowded so they sell out things fast. Friendly and polite staff and I always get their frozen food items, macarons, cheesecakes, and organic products. It's a little bit further for me to drive across the mountain on Grand Ave. though. We usually enjoy shopping here at TJ, and all the staff have been so sweet, but today my experience was disappointing. My mom was treated in a very disrespectful way by the one of the cashier lady. I have her name in case there is a follow up needed. We forgot to grab an item while at the register, so I ran to grab it from the meat section, took about 30 seconds, (note: no one else was waiting at the register behind us, we weren't holding the line). My mom, who isn't a native English speaker, told the cashier "one more. one more..", the cashier then responded with an attitude as I came back with the item, looked at us with wild eyes, and she impatiently said "I - SEE - IT" and continued mumbling a bunch of stuff. We didn't say anything back and proceeded. My mom used the phrases she knew to communicate. Unfortunately, the cashier responded with ignorance and impatience. Up until this point, I would give the lady the benefits of the doubt that she took it personally and intentional that someone who is not a native speaker couldn't tell her properly in English "sorry, my daughter is grabbing one more thing real quick, could you wait a sec." HOWEVER, after the transaction, my mom politely said thank you to her, and she not only said nothing back, she literally threw the receipt at my mom, causing it to fall off her hand and onto the counter. She then turned around and continued with her next customer who arrived. It was clear that she knew the receipt didn't reach the customer's hand, but she was just upset about my mom's prior interaction with her. Honestly, that was very unnecessary and disrespectful. I am surprised to encounter this kind of disrespectful behavior from TJ. read more

Plaza is always busy, parking is tight but ample, be careful around the parking lot, since it is high traffic. All the Trader Joe's goodies are available, but the stock is always low and things seem to sell out fast. This place seems to be really high traffic so seasonal items are hard to get. Service is nice, friendly staff, good for the kids. Not sure what happened with the junior shopper carts. If those could make a come back this place would be a solid 5. Overall make sure you come rush for all the seasonal goodies before they are sold out. read more

Came here after I found out the Sprouts discontinued the pizza dough we liked. Trader Joe's always has a great selection and this one doesn't disappoint. Been here several times and we usually find what we want and a few other things, too. The store is well stocked and clean - lots of people come here so be prepared. I appreciated the feedback from the worker who helped me find the dough and who had tried both types. Checkers were cool. We usually leave this location satisfied. Just wish we had a Trader Joe's closer to home. Lol read more

I usually have a great experience when I come here. They have everything I need and don't need but want to try! The checkers are usually really nice and chatty. Their seasonal holiday items are basically gone right now since the new year is around the corner. They always offer fun and tasty seasonal items. I was able to pick up some organic ground chicken for my lettuce wraps I'll be making. I also got sockeye salmon which is my favorite. The checkers are kid friendly and usually offer stickers. Frozen foods; The frozen foods can be a hit or a miss! The frozen foods have gotten way better over the years, but there is still a lot that is not edible. For example, the "pizza dumpling bites" like pizza bites but in dumpling form from Italy was not good as a frozen foods. It was all dough and less pepperoni and cheese. It was not editable and not good at all! Service; There has been more student workers here which is better to ask for help when finding stuff. It is some of the cashier workers here that are rude like the tall bald guy that works at night around 8pm or something on weekdays and some others who get angry at you when you buy a little bit stuff! News flash, we do not need to buy that much stuff if we come here all the time! They act like it is coming out of their paycheck if we buy a little bit stuff! Some of the cashiers do not like it when we buy little bit stuff. Ambiance: The ambiance is nice, but sometimes the store can get too crowded when there is a lot of people like on weekends. I wish Trader Joe's open more locations in El Monte or somewhere close to there. Their Whittier and Arcadia location is a bit too far. I would give zero star if I could! Spend hundreds of dollars there on groceries every week and can't get even a mini tote! Ridiculous! Called on Friday, the manager said there would be a shipment on Saturday. Figured that work for people like me who work during the week! Got up early to go on Saturday at 7. The manager came out and said no shipments at 7:30. Called on Saturday night, they said no more shipments on totes any more, but people were able to get totes on Sunday morning! Can Trader Joe's stop this craziness? Why don't you just open a separate shop for the totes? So stupid! read more

I love this store as I have ALL Trader Joe's locations. I've shopped in NC, VA, KY, MN, CA and probably other states and it never changes. The employees are always friendly, helpful, knowledgeable, efficient and responsive. Waiting in long lines is unheard of. The food is always top notch and interesting. I've shopped at least 100 to 150 times in multiple states and all of my experiences were positive. They even attract positive customers. Goodness is sometimes contagious! read more

Surprisingly, I have yet to review This supermarket as my go-to. I can also visit the Brea branch but just literally used to driving out IE because of Sam's Club errands since I used to live in Chino for a few years before moving back to Walnut. Trader Joe's carries a wide variety of grocery items including some exotic snack brands and their breakfast items such as hash browns, pancakes and sausage patties too.....I can spend some time shopping here on the weekends if I'm running an errand in Sam's Club, Chino. My favorite isles shopping at Trader Joe's would be: their exotic snacks such as Belgian waffles, their wide selection of dark chocolates, frozen sections and their flower shop! I've been going to this location for several years. The employees have always been friendly until I met Victoria. She was the cashier that helped me. She was very rude and spoke with me in a very condescending way. She did not make me feel welcome at all. I felt like I was bothering her with my presence. I've been trying to go to a different store so I don't have to deal with Victoria's rudeness. One of the managers by the name of Jodi is also very rude. I miss the old managers, they used to be very friendly and nice. Unfortunately, I think they were probably transferred to a different store or just left. I still love all of TJ's food/products, that's why I keep shopping at TJ's. read more

Honestly can never complain when I'm here. Literally makes me so happy snagging all my favorite TJ goods. A MUST is the sun dried tomato. I top this with anything and everything-- pairs well with toasted bread, all types of eggs, avocado toast, and hash browns specifically trader joe's. Looking for a savory bite that's not too heavy but still filling? RUN to the deli-wraps and get yourself the Chicken Pesto Vinaigrette wrap before it's sold-out. It looks so simple on the outside, but within it's wrapped with chunks of chicken, sweet red peppers, cucumber, and a pesto dip so DIVINE hidden underneath the wrap so make sure to add some sauce before enjoying the first bite, I promise you won't regret. Don't see it on the shelf? Try the Chicken Tarragon for a mix of creamy, savory and sweet wrap packed with protein. It's a little heavier for me with the mayo, but still good. The Spicy Lentil wraps (vegan) toasted warm is also good & comes with a tahini dip. Looove their Popcorn w/ Herbs and Spices, a healthier option that satisfies the salty cravings! The U shaped hash browns soo amazing crispy exterior and soft potatoes inside, can't go wrong . It's like enjoying a McDonald's hash brown but toasted from your own home! Although I haven't seen them in stores for awhile really hoping it's not discontinued. For dessert, the tiny coconut chocolate cones are another must get. IF you're not a huge fan of sweets like me, these 2 inch cones are the perfect size! They're diary free and have a chocolate filled base like Drumsticks do :) If you're lucky enough to get the popular sunscreen dupe from SuperGoop I highly recommend it's in a light orange tube. It's velvety, almost like a makeup primer and only a fraction of the price ($9) compared to SuperGoop ($25+). Lastly, grab a couple bouquets of fresh flowers and create your own! They have an assortment of beautiful blooms individually and more set for gifting you can't miss it. read more

Frozen foods section has great selections. They have a massive wine section. Fresh produce section has lots to offer. They have an amazing flowers section, too. I just love TJ! Firstly, we love our Trader Joe's. From the products to the customer service experience, typically TJ never disappoints. Unfortunately for some reason the Trader Joe's employees at this particular location just don't seem to care and frankly just come off to be cranky and uninviting. We were in the store earlier today with our 2 little ones. Our oldest found Patty the Cow and was so excited to share with an employee that he found Patty, the employee we found had the grumpiest look on her face and didn't even care to acknowledge him. At checkout, our son loves to hand items to the cashier to "help" with the scanning process since he's sitting in the cart. Our cashier, Mike, not only looked displeased but didn't even acknowledge, smile or interact with him. By the time we left checkout, our 2 year old was just plain sad. I understand that everyone has an off day, but this type of experience is definitely not what we've come to expect from a Trader Joe's. We'll be avoiding this location in the future. read more
