The cashiers and managers are very nice and helpful!!! They keep a nice stock of everything. If you don't see something ask! The lines do get extremely long but they do work fast. Nice selection of flowers! They have great sunflowers that last over a week! Trader Joe's brand of Vegan Thai Green Curry is outstanding!! It's amazing! You don't even miss the meat. It tastes similar to Star of Siam's green curry chicken

I was so looking forward to being able to shop local again and take only 1 bus home (or take less than 15 min to get home at least). The layout is nice, very wide aisles, as this is a small store. The parking is probably the most generous than other TJ's. The selection is impressive, or what I'm used to from TJ's so far. I forget they do not have much canned veggies or fruit, mostly fresh or frozen, which is great in the cool weather. Lugging home frozen stuff when it finally gets warm again is another thing. I like that they have food AND liquid samples! There's a decent liquor area with mainstream and off-brands too. What's up with the music? So much 80's stuff (which I love but still) then an abrupt switch to the 21st Century. Maybe split the difference and go with the 90's? I like the 'bell' system rather than the speaker for 'more registers, assistance needed, etc. Our cashier was unsure about dividing between 2 credit cards, but she figured it out. The manager was very adept at finding some hard to find dark chocolate almonds, a favorite of my co-shopper.

I literally came in for one thing

This location is much needed in Hyde Park! A solid size for a Trader Joe's. The people complaining about the size, fresh fish, deli etc. clearly have never frequented TJ's in any other location. For a family of 3 (2 adults and a dog) the selections are amazing. I love the smaller offerings. I don't need a 60 gallon jar of mayonnaise; I need 2-4 servings of something. Lately, TJ's as a brand is getting more and more prepared or marinated proteins. I have purchased a bunch of the newly marinated chicken options and pair that with a salad mix. Easy dinner with enough leftovers for lunch the next day. Trader Joe's always has the lockdown on awesome customer service and this location is not any different. Amazing staff! Parking lot is BS, but that's the joke, right? Seriously though, be careful. Both driving and walking. No one stops for you, people are consistently pulling though parking spots or taking 10 minutes to back in their huge SUVs.

i say 'twas a pleasure to trade with Joe today! bought a round of "thank you" groceries for my friends who live and love in East Hyde Park. did you know if you f around too much the Mayor may revoke your beach privileges? do not f about. i bought a SMALL mini roses plant for the brothers. they are more orchid men so i hope this purchase doesn't disappoint them. they ARE italian! so what else? i purchased pasteurized fresh OJ, while milk TJs beans, dark chocolate pb cups (a must, the $1 small bag sold by the checkout), a quick to make risotto box ($2 i believe), frozen ready to heat gnocchi w sauce on it already, 6 pack bottles of stella artois, and $7 bottle of red that is supposed to be pretty good. i almost bought the sweet corn ravioli + basil tomato pasta sauce, but i got a budget! i spent $2 on v cute and stylin reusable bags w handles. pictured is one of them! and iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii will always dove MOOOOOOOOO!

I'm happy that they moved in to the neighborhood. I've been here a few times in the last two weeks that they've been open. Very busy location, staff is helpful, feels like one of the larger Trader Joes I've been to and I've visited several in Chicago and Cali back in the day. Two complaints about this location, I think they could do a better job training cashiers on how to properly bag groceries. Some of them over fill the bags without doubling them and don't consider what are going in on bottom and top. 2) they advertise closing at 9PM, me and several locals got to the door around the 8:50 ish mark and they had an associate saying sorry were closed, letting customers out one allowing no one in. If you close at 8:45 or 8:30 then advertise it please.

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. Darius wasn't lying, the spicy wings were next level. The best grocery store chicken I've ever had. Boomin the Publix fried chicken. Shoutout to the Darius' and Damariea's of the world. Good people. As always, I am looking for new fantastic restaurants, and stores to try out, and share with: family, friends, and on Yelp. As you walk in it seems like a common corner store, groceries in the front, meat towards the rear. When I walked to the back I had a pretty good hunch this would be a great one. The fresh smell, it was very clean, and the amazing eye catching signage. You could feel like you just walked into in a sweet little store in Mexico. When they handed me the food I ordered I knew was on the right track. When I took my first bites I smiled, and knew, I needed to share this place. I was intrigued by the Pozole Verde sign out front. I had never had it before, so I placed my order for that and zero regrets. It comes out in a quart container with a plastic wrapped foam tray with: chopped onions, cilantro, radish, shredded cabbage, and mexican oregano. I added mostly everything but went easy on the oregano. The chunks of chicken were tender and not overcooked. The hominy and vegetables were just right as well. They have this to a science and it has to be near perfect. Now to the tacos: As you often see in neighborhood grocery stores the chorizo was hanging in back above the meat counter, so a house made chorizo taco was a given. The Al Pastor was reccomend by the one of the butchers, and I had a steak taco to round it, and myself, out. All I can say is that like the pozole everything was superb. Even the salsas.. I wish I knew of this place when I worked and lived in the area. I would definitely have known everyone there by name. I still smile thinking of it, and next time I'm in that hood, I will be there. I look forward to trying out a few more menu items, and picking up some of the fresh meat. So maybe don't slap Grandma... but you should at least pick her up and take her out to lunch here. Enjoy! #AlfieEats
