I don't know what's going on at this location, but they removed the Aldi Finds section. Which is one of my favorite reasons to visit Aldis. I also noticed they moved and made the wine and beer section into a small section. I don't know if it's correlated, but I don't like it. And per usual there is only one lane open. You'd be lucky if they have two. Lots of loitering around the premises. read more

Aldi grocery store, 6621 south cottage grove, Chicago, Illinois Poorly managed. Today, October 15, 2025, Wednesday, 4:53p.m. The cashier name on my receipt is Parish. Parish was so rude and in a hurry that he threw my meat on the floor. I had not really noticed until he said "its somethig over there." The food was on the counter/belt, far enough back where this should not have occurred. I noticed that he started abruptly throwing my items, non chalantly. I picked the meat up off the floor and paid for all of my items. I was lucky this time because they did not steal my money and keep the groceries. This is one of those places you wonder about. It's too bad they make so much money off the shoppers, and the community, but they behave so unprofessionally. read more

So Aldi has an extremely bad reputation if you've grown up in Chicago. The quality of food and customer service has been historically low. I know it for mostly all generic brands personally. I took a risk and visited our local Aldi with my toddler after a long day of work. My curiosity was mostly around the produce. The fruit is extremely fresh. The vegetables also looked really great and more affordable than what I see at other local groceries. Here is where Aldi must do better: 1. The produce section is in shambles!! Where are the staff to stock and restock. There were scattered containers of strawberries but no actual strawberry section. And my daughter loves strawberries. This one hurt! 2. There are five lanes to purchase your items. There is only ONE cashier at a time. And this isn't the first time I've experienced this in 2023. This is ridiculous!! Especially during the 5p rush after work. It took me 7 minutes to buy four items. There are too many local high schools in the area for teenagers from the community not to be employed. If you need help recruiting students and offering them their first job please let me know. I am happy to help connect you with teachers and school principals. I guess I'll give this Aldi another shot in the future. It may take me a while to venture beyond the produce section all things considered. read more

Lived going here the usual pick up was pop tarts milk freeze pops ice some of the stuff you make pasta chicken and orange juice. Quick stop from Marquette to stony and I'm there. Calm cool and collected. Pretty much on time with everything done nice and neat. read more

I was going to give this location a 3 star because a few times I have been here during the Pandemic the customer service wasn't all that great. I mean Aldi is Aldi so we have to stand out and they had a cashier there that was all smiles I mean if something was bothering her none of would know and that is why I added the star. The day I came in the store I wasn't in a good place but when I left I was smiling. Aldi needs to clone her she was infectious in a beautiful way and that is what we need during these trying times. So, I thank you Aldi for hiring a gem. Now remember we are in a middle of global crisis so the lines maybe longer. We have to have patience because we all are feeling the pressure of uncertainty of what is going happen. Had to say today's visit was VERY disappointing! Usually, I love this store... today one of the coolers was broken water and boxes all over the floor, the fruit bins were in horrible shape, cherries dumped out of the last bag, potatoes were so old they ALL had age spots all over them... it reminded me of the old terrible days of Aldi's... I was embarrassed for anyone to have to shop in such deplorable conditions... come on ALDIs! I'm a big fan of Aldi based on their low price point and great array of organic and healthy food. I went to this Aldi at 6 pm on a Friday and was pleasantly surprised at how empty the parking lot was. This is a great companion business if you go to the Walmart first and then supplement Walmart's goods with cheaper food here. The Walmart is .2 miles from here. This Aldi was clean inside with plenty of stock including candy, baby food, kitchen items, and produce. The checkout line was very fast and the checkout woman was extremely efficient. Remember it's debit card only and you bag your stuff after the cashier is done ringing everything up. Also if you're a fan of La Croix they sell about 5 different flavors here for about 15% cheaper than at Target or Walmart. read more

I like this Aldi a lot! It's new, it's clean and open, it has friendly staff, and it has cheap groceries. This is not the closest Aldi to me, but it's one of my favorite Aldi's. Their produce (fresh and frozen), milk, canned foods, and frozen pizza are a great deal. read more

This ALDI is so great. DEFINITELY worth the price, and even cleanliness and easiness of shopping, advantage over Treasure Island if you're just looking for basic grocery store goods. I got 6 packs of bacon (6 lbs, 120 strips), 4 packs of waffles (40 waffles), and syrup for $25. Damn. By far best prices I know of in the area (which is, admittedly, hard-pressed for grocery stores). In the day time, I felt completely safe in the area. Minus one star for the fact that it's sort of inconsistent for some goods, because, you know, it's ALDI, it's not great at much more than the basic food stuff. I felt like I maybe could have found better prices for apricots and definitely better prices for chocolate bar at Trader Joe's (PERHAPS Hyde Park Produce), but after the time and cost of transit... generally a good bet. Just be prepared to go to a different store if you have really specific needs. Speaking to the safety of the area... it's seriously so fine. People from Hyde Park who feel in danger here I think are mostly awkward nerds who don't know how to interact in grocery stores without pissing people off. I try to go before sunset, but taking the bus I may go later. read more

It is a great grocery store to pick up fruits, eggs, milk, yogurt, chips etc. Prices are super affordable and the selection is great. The eggs were 89c / dozen, the yogurt cups were 33c. We fell in love with the pita chips they had. The fruits and bread selection was great too. Definitely much better and cheaper than Family Dollar. read more

Surprisingly, this store was well maintained, stocked full of variety, and clean. The cashier was pleasant and courteous to my wife and I. Counter space was plentiful to bag your groceries and people shopping weren't loud and ghetto. Definitely A+ in my book. Smells like a sewer main busted in here. A woman was screaming and cursing at an old man for about 7-8 minutes before finally the security guard, who had been watching along the rest of us, walked up and asked her to stop. She didn't. For the entire time she was in line, even after the old man had left, she kept screaming and cursing. She seemed upset that he he had made an offensive comment that nobody else heard, but saw nothing offensive about her own tirade. When I got to the front of one line, the guy at the register closed it - for exactly the amount of time it took me to then wait in the other line, behind several people who had joined a line after I did. The moment I got to the front of that line he reopened his, making it clear to me and everyone else that he just hadn't wanted to ring up groceries for a white person. I only went here out of desperation, and I promise I'll never be that desperate again. Zero stars. read more

I'm a Hyde Parker and this is one of my regular grocery stores, along with the Marianos on Clark and 18th street and Hyde Park Produce. I pick up my staples here (milk, flour, dark chocolate (!), etc. ) As others have said, it is super cheap and clean. Lines can be a bit long if you come at a popular time, but move quickly I'm often the only white person there, which is surprising given the large student population close by. read more

When Aldi's first arrived the produce section was very weak. Now they feature organic produce and many organic products and a gluten free line of products that are amazing! As a resident of Woodlawn whose family eats dairy free, gluten free and one of us is mostly vegan the product offerings of our local Aldi's has been a welcome addition. read more
