This location has been spectacular in taking precautions for the global pandemic. All employees are wearing masks, each cart is sanitized as it is returned, there are a limited amount of people allowed inside, and they have a special system while checking out that includes not standing close to the register as the cashiers ring up your items and sanitizing the counters after every customer. Although the line to enter the store may seem daunting and long when you arrive, do not fret because the line moves rather quite quickly. The store itself is well kept and clean. As for the items, this location is relatively stocked most of the time. Some of the very popular TJ's items may or may not be stocked. Today, on a particularly HOT day, the employees had ice cold water bottles for the customers waiting in the hot summer heat. All of the employees that I interacted with were very friendly and made my trip very enjoyable. This Trader Joe's is close to my work so I frequent it often and always get sucked in. Lately I have been greeted by pumpkins and fresh flowers for fall which I love! The fresh flowers are always there though! They sell everything a normal Trader Joe's would but the store is always well kept, well stocked, clean, and the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I feel as though i can ask any staff a question and they will likely know the answer, quickly find the answer or ask someone else for me. I love that they put out samples also. It gives me the opportunity to try new products that I maybe wouldn't typically try. I also so appreciate that they are constantly adding people to registers when the need is there rather than having people wait while other workers stock/clean. I wish other stores would adopt their procedures because it is a smooth running machine. When your only experience is the Bayshore TJ's, this one feels like a miracle. A lot of reviewers have commented on the larger parking lot and store - it's really great. I came during the week and it wasn't crowded at all. It takes a bit to get used to the layout. There's a lot of stacking of the shelves and items - not spread out like a typical grocery store. Pretty much everything can be found here. I don't come to Trader Joe's for a full grocery shop, but they have some things that I'll gladly make a special trip for. Those include, chocolate covered almonds rolled in sea salt and turbinado sugar, coconut oil, and chocolate covered orange sticks, to name a few. Oh how I love Trader Joe's. I especially love this location because its reasonable close to my home and its in the same area as one of my other favorite places...Target. Oh I'm am guaranteed to spend over $100 anytime I decide to venture to this destination. I actually like this local better than the Bay Shore location because I never have any issue with parking. The usual TJ are always on my list; almond meal, fresh organic produce, organic eggs, coconut milk, some tasty frozen goods and maybe a couple of bottles of wine. There is almost always some tasty snack and drink to taste at the rear of the store. If I'm feeling whimsical I may even buy some fresh cut flowers to place around the house. The parking lot is easy to access and not all jacked up like Glendale. The Brookfield aisles are wider and I think there's more stuff. Your employees are super nice too - even going in back to find an item that was out of stock on the floor. I love the flowers selection here. They have really unusual and beautiful flowers to choose from. I often get two different type bunches and make arrangements with them when I get home or to a friends house which is a nice house gift. Precooked bacon is a thing of beauty. It makes breakfast so much more enjoyable. I am fond of their selection of meats cold cuts for sandwiches and their delicious cheeses. I am so happy that I finally was able to check out this Trader Joe's location. I've been shopper at the Bayshore location since it opened, and my recent trip to LA rekindled my love for Trader Joe's. I visited on a Saturday evening and the store was not at all busy... the first thing I noticed was that the parking lot is wonderful compared to the Bayshore's fiasco. The aisles are large, the store was clean, and all the items were neat and organized. As with the other TJ's I've visited, I am a huge fan. The produce is always flavorful, the cheese selection is fantastic, and there are plentiful wine options. TJ's even carries hard liquor now. I can't wait to try their rum, it sounds pretty yummy. If I am ever closer to this location than to the Bayshore store, I will definitely stop to shop here! read more

Guys , seriously .... Pull over and come in here . You won't find cheaper prices on fruits and vegetables ! I've never gotten fruit / veggies from here that have ever been spoiled ! If you go toward the back they have fresh juice samples and food samples . They carry the cheapest wine ever ! And I mean cheap price not cheap quality. They have a huge selection to choose from as well . Another thing I like about this place is it has one of a kind items you won't find anywhere else, like their chive yogurt dip. I suggest going up and down the aisles because you will find stuff you won't be able to find at other places . We love Trader Joe's. Luckily this one is fairly close to our home but I wish there were more Trader Joe's in the world. We bring our kids here because they like pushing the little carts and looking for the hidden lemur, which if you tell the cash register you get a lollipop. They also like sampling their juices and snacks. If you've never been to Trader Joe's, it is simply well priced good food. There is nothing snooty or pretentious or weird about it. Our favorite Trader Joe's specific foods are Korean beef kalbi (though not always there and this makes me a bit sad), French macarons (just so amazing and 5 dollars for a dozen is a way better deal than anything you'll get at a pastry shop), excellent well priced wine selection, and Trader Joe's brand yogurt in mango and peach, such amazing flavors. Haven't met a single unfriendly staff member. We love this place and will keep coming here. read more

Seeing as I lived in Cali through the 80's and 90's, I am very aware of the awesomeness of TJ's products and have always loved them! Best store EVER is the original in Pasadena. The store's in Wisconsin however are another subject entirely. Still the same great products you can get at any other Trader Joe's throughout the country, it's the PEOPLE or shall I say "sheeple"??? Every single time I have been in either MKE store, I amazed by the mass profusion of "deer in the headlights" cluelessness exhibited by the majority of shoppers. Workers are always helpful and happy but I am assuming many are finding medicinal ways to deal with the idiocy the must see day in and out. Always return, but I wish there was a delivery service of some sort to avoid the aggravation of dealing with the tree huggers in such close proximatey! read more

In short, I love Trader Joe's and what they offer as a grocer. Good variety, really reasonably priced, good quality foods and a wonderful variety of foods you just don't find. And the staff? Every time I go there the staff is so nice. They actually take the time to talk to you and converse. I don't get that at any local grocery store (put any name here) or even the higher end grocer store (put name here). What I also like here is the size. Not so big that it is difficult to find anything. We have four you can get about 70% of what we need for groceries. Yes, we do wish it was closer to us. In the end, if it was, I'd probably spend way too much in the wine department. Speaking of wines, they have such a great variety of wines and some that you just can't find anywhere else and for the price point, you can find some really good wines. For those that aren't wine snobs or think you have to spend $30 to get "good" wine, I have found many good wines for everyday drinking. Even their brand, Trader Joe Exclusive wines are really good (for their price point). We have purchased meats here and they are good. Beef, lamb, pork, chicken and turkeys. Their turkeys are very good, and we like that they are vegetarian raised with no hormones, etc. Organic variety that is reasonably priced is a great option. I also enjoy the international variety. I have been able to try different dishes here that I really haven't found anywhere else, and the cheese variety is ice. This was an amazing experience. Let me start with, I love Trader Joe's in general. The options are awesome and different and so so cheap. This Trader Joe's did not disappoint! Everyone in there was so helpful, I got food for the next couple weeks and wine for the month all for less than $200. Also, our cashier, Ryan was so nice! I love that new store smell, don't you? I have been looking forward to TJ's opening for some time now, of the main reasons is it's literally 2 blocks from my home. Hells to the yes! The interior is like any other TJ's - well-lit, well organized, and easy to maneuver around the aisles. I suppose it has kind of a hippie vibe to it, but you get over that pretty quickly. Staff is super friendly and nice - they seemed genuinely happy to be there and to offer their help. The gal at the checkout last night was very helpful and willing to answer my questions. Bonus points (pushed the 4.5 over the cliff) : - Chicken burritos! Prepackaged but healthy. Also super cheap and way awesome. You can freeze them, and make them later. DO IT. - Cheap booze! Interesting booze, for that matter. - Cheese... oh my God, cheese. - Cheap everything (almost) and they also carry some cool stuff you can't get anywhere else. - Mini carts for the lil' ones. Instill that grocery shopping bug early on. - Totally convenient location. There's a stoplight so it's easy in, easy out. All in all, I'm SO happy I don't have to go to Roundy's any more! As much as I like this place, it's also the bane of my existence. I come in here planning to spend $50 and I spend $150. And how can I not? Everything in here literally has my name on it, from Josephsbrau beer to Joe-Joe's cookies. I do enjoy the focus on "healthier for you" foods and they have some great produce in here. I like to grab spinach, kale and a ton of fruit here. But for every one of those items, I grab two items that are considered "healthy" junk food. Hawaiian BBQ kettle chips. No Sugar Added Dark Chocolate Bar with Almonds. Veggie Corn Dogs. Pesto Pizza. Pumpernickel Pretzels. Please don't shop here hungry without taking out a second mortgage. People who talk about the "specialty" products at places like Sendik's obviously don't shop here, because this chain kills in this category. Decent deli style cheesecake. Almond croissants. Sushi. Hummus. Better fresh ground coffee. Organic Superfruit fruit spread. This isn't some pretentious little store with carpeting on the floor charging you ten bucks for a two dollar steak. All they are interested in is selling good and good for you foods, and they do that in spades. For those of you impressed with the larger parking lot, that's a necessity when you get west of State Fair Park due to douchebags with trucks who think it's okay to take up two spaces in the front of the parking lot. I love TJs. They have a wonderful array of flavored nuts and fruits, a healthier (usually) way to snack. I love the coconut cashews, the powerberries and the chocolate covered cranberries. The second best part of this store is the frozen entree section. They have everything from channa masala, to sweet potato gnocchi, to frozen ravioli (including sauce!). They never have preservatives or chemicals, and everything is very reasonably priced. Best part of TJs? WINE! My favorite wine, Green Fin, is only $3.99! You can buy their Charles Shaw wine for $2.99, and all are quite palateable. (; They have a nice 'home goods' section too, with sustainable shampoo/condition, washing detergent and vitamins. I LOVE their fresh lavender sachets, I throw them in with my laundry in the dryer, put them in pillowcases and rip them open, sprinkle on carpet and vaccuum up for a fresh smell. FINALLY. I've been anticipating the opening of this store since I got to Milwaukee a few months ago. I came here a few hours after it opened and wasn't surprised at how crammed it was with people. I come here for: - Breakfast foods - Cheap packaged veggies - Frozen Fruit - Yogurt - Cheese - Frozen foods (pizza, burritos, etc.) - SNACKS GALORE - Organic and cheap So basically everything... My only complaint is that this TJs, and the one in bayshore as well, seem to lack quite a few items that I'm used to seeing in TJs back in California. Also, there is a slight price markup on several items apparently due to shipping costs. It's still cheap, but that extra 10% or so can definitely add up over time. Finally, the fact that this TJs is right next to a Target means that I can do 99% of my weekly shopping in that little plaza. I have always been a fan of Tj's, even before TJ's was located in the Milwaukee area. Before they were located in the greater Milwaukee area I would shop in the Chicago area when I could. I shop at the Bayview store often, even if it is out of my way. This new location is still far but closer to our place of residence. The two stores are mostly similar with a few differences: Though the selection seems similar there is more physical space in the Bluemound location. This comes in handy when you have a five year old and are nine months pregnant. You search for Lulu not Millie or Chili to get your organic lollypop. Once you get used to a slightly different layout you will find the same great prices and friendly staff. read more

This is a decent sized Trader Joe's and I'm so happy they are expanding in the Milwaukee area. The aisles are plenty wide where you can fit two shopping carts side by side easily...muy importante. They have some items that are differently packaged or plain different from the West Coast stores which is also nice. This is the place to go for cheap prepared foods. It is great for people with no time to cook meals and/or healthy-er junk food. Guilt free line of foods are amazing! YUM! It's a place that you should NOT shop at if you're hungry. Seriously it is impulse-buy hell. That being said... I love Trader Joe's and I'm happy there is one closer than Bayshore. Here's the breakdown: The Good - GREAT prices on Olive oil. Seriously, I find it hard to buy my everyday cooking oil anywhere else. They have some interesting snack foods and they also have the best price I have seen on goat cheese anywhere. The Bad - OH MY GOD PEOPLE! When you are in a crowded store, maintain an awareness of your surroundings. Stopping in the middle of a lane is not a habit you want to cultivate. It's crowded... so deal with it. If you don't want crowds then don't go on the weekend. And if you have to go, then you're better off parking in the Target lot and walking the extra 100 steps so you don't have to deal with a chaotic parking lot. And a hundred steps is like burning a glass of wine right??? The Ugly - You know those $3 and $5 bottles of wine... and those $4 chicken enchiladas... and those other things that looked kind of interesting... Yeah, they add up. It's easy to walk out with $100 and have little to no idea where it all came from. So see the first sentence... live the first sentence, and thank me later. In a nutshell, This is not a replacement for my regular grocery shopping, rather, like many of the specialty markets I love around Milwaukee, it's a place to go for things I love and new things to try. I like the employees, they're very friendly and knowledgeable. The layout is interesting, but doesn't seem to have a lot of rhyme or reason. The plus is that the isles don't feel crammed like sendiks in elm grove. The store itself is kinda small and offers a limited variety of each type of item. The food selection is different than most other grocery stores and interesting. Many items are priced kinda high, comparable to organic outpost prices without being organic (they do have some organic items though). My favorite thing is the frozen meals, they're priced fair and taste great, not to mention you cant get them anywhere else. This is hard to rate because this is a new business. When I went it was a mad house. So if the lot looks full just park over at the tail end of target's lot. It will save you a hassle. Everyone wants that best spot so walk a couple of extra seconds and save yourself :) What I really want to point out is that the customer service here was good from what I observed and experienced and that says a lot because it was rather chaotic in there. Every store I've been to have nice, bend over backwards to help you, employee's, yet this location gets called out for having the best customer service training or hiring manager of about any type of store anywhere. Almost everyone is a small talk master, and, most importantly, they do it while still working at full speed. It's not forced, comes of as natural in their earnest helpfulness. It's just silly how they can take a item of clothing or items just purchased and make the last minute in the store pleasant (or not, if the customer is busy or grumpy). I'm a big fan of the TJ shtick itself. So they have far too many (and often sneakily) unhealthy items. The plethora of good edibles, fast edibles, the very unique items, the rotation of seasonals, all decent quality, many cost effective, make it a needed weekly stop. read more

Well i was in heaven the other day when found mini-orchids for only $7. I have been in love with the minis for years but prices were always so high. Parking is easy at this location and aisles are bigger so not have to move every time someone wants to come thru. Great selection of frozen items that you don't see routinely. I was so excited when Trader Joe opened up in my neck of the woods. It is super conveniently located for those of us on the west side of Milwaukee County. There are so many things to love.....I could never name them all. Peanut Butter Filled Pretzels Frozen Food Lunch options from every corner of the planet. Pumpernickel Pretzels Seaweed Snacks Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups Huge variety of cheeses at reasonable prices. Wine and beer options galore. Chips, Chips and more Chips! Tons of Yogurts, Keifer and Milk choices. Delicious Red Pepper Hummus. Yummy Fresh Salads. Oh, and don't forget to stop in the back for a sample or two. The staff is always super friendly and will help you find anything you need. Checkouts are always well staffed, and I never have to wait behind more than one person. My only complaint, is that you need to watch the expiration dates on fresh items (bread, prepared foods, etc.). It's not that I have ever found an item past an expiration date, it's just that the can be real close to the expiration date. So it's best to stop frequently, and get just what you need. read more

I have been excited to try Trader Joe's since I learned it was coming to my area back in June. Finally got to stop in this week. I wish I'd waited, and that I hadn't made the foolish decision to go there on a Saturday. It was extremely crowded, which is to be expected, and I imagine that the crowds will thin out over time. Plus if I return I'd go on a week night (which is normally when I grocery shop anyway). I found this store did not cater to my needs in particular. I had heard that it was "cheap" and had great "deals", but I found this to be inaccurate compared to Woodman's or even Pick n Save (and of course Walmart, but that's another thing). Woodman's is king when it comes to crazy cheap prices and insane amounts of variety. Can't wait until their Waukesha store opens in 2013! I'm not overly concerned with organic produce, and I didn't find their shelf food selection to be that impressive. I bought some apples (priced per apple, so I couldn't tell if I was getting a good deal, since I'm used to buying them per pound and there was no scale that I could see) and some kiwis, plus some pita pockets (nice selection there). I liked that they have free samples of things, and we did find their frozen pre-packaged foods to be attractive (good portion size, good price, nice mix of items). We bought some beef burritos that were delicious! We also snagged a frozen orange chicken entree that I'm looking forward to preparing. I would come back to buy the frozen items for meals and to peruse for exotic items to spice up our weekly diet (though Woodmans still has them beat on variety and depth of ethnic foods). Here's the breakdown, based on what I expect in a grocery store: Price - meh. Not what I'd call spendy, but also not what I'd call cheap. I'm a bargain hunter. But they didn't scare me away, and I found most things to be reasonable. Convenience - Pretty good. I live just on the other side of the woods from this new Target and Trader Joe's, so it's about a 10 minute drive for me to go around. I hate Elm Grove Road, though - I wish they'd raise the speed limit. Selection & Variety - Alright, though I'm not their demographic (vegan, organic, etc). No serious meat counter to speak of, though they have tons and tons of cheese and what looks to be a nice liquor section. I'd like to go back to peruse the produce when it's less hectic. Customer Service - This was top notch. If I were working there, I'd probably be frazzled as hell by all the crowds, but their employees were helpful, expedient, and friendly. The check-out girl was quick, despite the huge number of people in the store. Store Layout - Interesting. It's a small store, and it was new to me. It was pretty easy to navigate (minus the carts and people everywhere - seriously felt like 7 Mile Fair), and with some practice I think I'll have better luck finding what I'm looking for. I wanted to buy soup, but could only seem to find chicken stock or squash soup (bleh). If it were less crowded and I knew the store better I may have found what I wanted (vegetable soup - I'm sure they have it!). Quality of Products - So far everything we've tried (burritos and frozen garlic fries) has been wonderful! Overall, I'll give Trader Joe's a second (and probably third, fourth, fifth...) chance, but I won't be making it my go-to grocery destination. Kind of a bummer that both Target and Trader Joe's fall flat on grocery, to me, as this stretch of Bluemound is kind of a food desert when it comes to affordable groceries (with the exception of Metro Market, which I find to be inconveniently far west of Moorland). read more

I was so excited to see that they were building a TJ's in Elm Grove. I can do without the attitude in Glendale and the liberal organic way of Madison. I went during the week and got all the items that I wanted and then some. My highlight of the day was the manager who came up to me and asked me if he could help me. He was so friendly. I love the fresh fruit and veggies as well as their cheap wine which is actually quite good. Now for all the whiners out there. If its crowded on the weekend, go during the week. No you cannot do all your shopping here, nor should you. It is in addition to your normal shopping hub. Their prices are more than reasonable. If you think this place is expensive, then you must be shopping exclusively at Aldi's. Also the overall demographic of this place was women of all ages, not just over 50 crowd.
