This was my first time to stop at this location as I was traveling through to Mississippi and needed to pit stop to stock up on supplies for others. This is by far the least crowded TJ's that I've been to so that was fun, though I wasn't able to find everything that I came in to look for. I called ahead on last Tuesday to ask if they had beefless bulgogi and a designated section for their meatless frozen products. I was told that they did, but guess what, I scoured the frozen selection and did not indeed find it. There was hardly anyone working on the floor which is pretty rare. Everything was mixed up into one which made it difficult to locate anything and was a bit annoying considering I was already pressed for time and needed to get to Mississippi. The plants out front was reasonably priced and I bought a few. On the way out to checkout, I chose Manager, Trinity line, but Trinity did not speak with me at all. She didn't even acknowledge me. It was very weird and not something that I've ever experienced at any TJ's that I've been to. Usually, the cashiers are the most bubbly out of any grocery store that I've shopped at. I prefer to shop at TJ's because of their solid products and their cashiers. I think next time I stop here, I won't go through Trinity's line. It was weird since the guy before me, was greeted and got a smile from her, but I asked her how she was doing and she treated me like a tree. Anyways, I tried the TJ's exclusive licorice and it was the real deal. The mango, raspberry, and green apple mix pack was very solid and tasty. I damn near ate the whole bag last night. I got it because it has actual licorice paste in it and not just high fructose corn syrup. Another snack that I like are the sweetened orange slices by TJ's; so very delicious, but another extremely the best snack are the jerk plantain chips. I love TJ's, but I wish TJ's was located in every state, so that all people can experience the goodness of the store. This location is pretty much in a safe looking area of Baton Rouge and not too far from I-10. The parking lot is shared with other establishments. I'll definitely be back. read more

Trader Joe's is a breath of home coming from Los Angeles Trader Joe's is a common staple when it comes to great shopping and quality healthy foods. Farmers markets and quality food is something I am use it and I honestly thought once I moved from the WestCoast I wouldnt have it any more then I saw Trader Joe's on Perkins. I know I had a piece of home in my Louisiana backyard. Prices are what I expect to pay for the selection offered, I have nothing but praise for this location and the great helpful staff. I understand the hype when it comes to Trader Joe's. This grocery store has tons of one-of-a-kind options. From the outstanding flower section to the frozen meals, there is something you are bound to be obsessed with from this store. I came in on a Thursday night around 8pm, right when they were about to close. This is the time to come! Usually, there are SO many people in here that I never come, but coming around close it was pretty empty and I was able to get in and out within 10 minutes. I was looking for a plant and some sweet treats, and again, tons of options. The store is very easy to navigate and very clean. Ray was my cashier, and he was amazing! So sweet and very efficient. I will probably be back around the same time for my next hunt for sweet treats! read more

I used to like this store--great products and service. But lately, it's impossible to shop there. I tried to go on Saturday and again on Sunday, but each time, the check out lines were all the way to the back of the store. The parking lot is also a nightmare with too few spaces for all of the stores in the shopping center where TJ is located, and there are only 3 handicapped spaces, both very far away from TJ. Time for this store to either rent space from one of the adjoining business or just move to a larger place with adequate parking. read more

I have a love-hate relationship with Trader Josephs. Sometimes I can go in there and spend $200. Sometimes I can go in there and spend nothing. Instagram and Pinterest have been making suggestions for things at the local Brother trader Joseph's that made me stop in again. This trip wasn't easy $200 trip, most of the items I've gotten and tried, I will go back for, if I can find them. It wasn't too crowded and I got through the line quickly. Here are some of my go to snacks, all five stars each: -The raspberry jam shortbread cookies (made me, a usual berry avoider, realize I actually like raspberries) -Aussie style chocolate crème sandwich cookies -Any seasonal chocolate covered shortbread cookies, though the winter and Valentines versions are slightly different and delicious in their own ways -Chocolate covered pretzels (simple but delicious) They also have pretty good normal food. Love TJ's for the fun products as well as the staples. It's the best place to grab things for extremely affordable charcuterie boards or lots of different air-fryer ready appetizers. They have seasonal items and a variety of different special releases throughout the year. Their truffle phase was much appreciated and I was able to stock up on some different things like truffle hot sauces. I also love that I can grab a ton of items, including flowers and wine, and still leave there with spending less than $55. I do recommend checking the expiration date on perishables. I wanted to buy jicama wraps yesterday, but they were all expiring that day. Additionally, go baby carrots and found they went bad in about 2-3 days last month. I find this is more rare happening, but just note that it does happen. Their wine is kind of hit or miss, but it's not expensive. Everyone has different flavor pallets too, so what I might love, you may not. However, staff is most pleasant, helpful, and friendly. They seem to really enjoy their work environment, and it makes a difference in your experience there. You are even allowed to try things in the store, and if you don't like them, they'll take the box for you (I don't do this, but i have heard it's a policy). You may have to weave around other customers, but TJ's is a staple in my routing! read more

Always well stocked and friendly workers. On weekends it is insanely busy however you never have to wait in line long. I will say this is not a grocery store to go into if you are not feeling chatty because the cashiers will want your whole life story. I've never had a bad experience at Trader Joe's, except tonight. I just left but I was checking out and used apple pay to check out. The cashier and I didn't speak. I started speaking to my roommate when the cashier told me in an inpatient tone "Can you finish please?". The way she said it was so rude and I was a bit shocked and just put my pin in and got my receipt, but I have never received that kind of experience from any TJs. I'm a bit disappointed and am quite frankly discouraged to come back. As someone who has worked in customer service, I would have never spoke to a customer the way we were treated. read more

Trader Joe's is more than a grocery store, it's an institution. They have their own lines of products that are really great. Their "Fearless Flyer" mail out is both helpful and humorous. They have excellent lines of produce, meats, cheeses, and frozen goods. People often drive long distances to visit a Trader Joe's and stock up on their products. They even sell insulated coolers so such customers can get their foods home. Their prices, quality, and employees are all top notch. Speaking of employees, I'm unsure exactly what makes Trader Joe's a great employer, but everyone I know that has gone to work there seems to love it. Many people seem confused about Trader Joe's and organic foods. While they do offer a wide variety of organic foods, not all foods they sell are organic, this is different than Whole Foods. In regards to this particular location, essentially it is a neighborhood grocery, but can be very busy at times (especially on weekend afternoons). However, they generally try as hard as humanly possible to get people checked out as quickly as they can. It seems to go in waves, so one can go get a free sample, or browse some more, then go back to the checkout line after a little bit. Another great thing the Baton Rouge store has going for it is its great floral area. I often pick up a bunch of their flowers to take to a house party. They are beautiful and priced nicely. So, come to Trader Joe's and get some great products in a right-sized grocery store, from nice employees that seem to like their jobs. The first Trader Joe's I have ever been to that doesn't have an awful parking lot! It's actually easy to find a spot and get in and out of. This is the only Trader Joe's in the area so it's pretty much always busy. Their employees are really friendly and helpful like all Trader Joe's I have been too. It can be really hard to navigate the store just because there is so many people in their constantly and when the employees are out trying to stock the shelves it's a tighter squeeze. The only difference I have had in their food is the bruschetta is not the same here as California or Arizona. It's basically salsa and not good at all. It's sad that I'll have to say goodbye to that yummy ness but I will definitely still shop here it's not a deal breaker. I love their cowboy veggie burger with quinoa and black beans. The Dorot frozen minced garlic is a must have for me. The Kumato tomatoes are the best store bought tomatoes ever, their pasta is awesome, the organic tomato basil marinara is my absolute favorite followed by their organic vodka sauce. We always have their tempura chicken on hand, the jalapeño cheddar pub cheese with pita crackers is so indulgently delicious, the blonde brownie mix is the bomb! The nice thing about this location is that they sell hard liquor not all locations do, so check it out! They also do wine tasting at this location which I love. I love their seasonal finds like Spiced Apple Cider or Peppermint Pretzels - yum. Can't say enough wonderful things about this Trader Joes! The people who work here all seem to be very happy and extremely kind. As I live very far away from a Trader Joe's it is always a delight to stop in one and pick up products that I have come to love so much over the years. Love the Asian chicken peanut salads, fresh organic fruits, cookie options - Key lime coolers! It always reminds me of California or South FL to go to Trader Joes! Also I loved the beautiful selection of fresh flowers and picked up a bouquet of the prettiest purple roses (Very LSU!) that I could find. The cashier was very nice as were all the employees in the store for that matter and the same young lady who helped with bagging my groceries, pushed my cart around as I searched for my car in the parking lot. I will say sometimes it is the little things and this store has left a huge impression on me in terms of the customer service and the positive vibes that the LSU community and Baton Rouge has to offer. My only hope is that next time they will have my favorite maple syrup with the vanilla bean (I think this is a holiday offering) and my littles love what they refer to as "tractor juice" - the little red apple juice boxes, "mermaid juice" and the boxed lemonades. Just the fact that I was able to stock my mini bar at our hotel with fun snacks at an affordable rate made this stay in BR very fun! I also (wishful thinking) would have loved to see more regional products. I was able to pick up ANDYGATOR Abita beer and SubtleTEA - Abita Beer but was at a loss for getting anything that screamed LSU or Baton Rouge or Louisiana - Would have loved to have picked up a crate of the famous Ponchatoula strawberries or Satsuma oranges for example! I felt the need to update my review with Trader Joe's new procedures during this global pandemic. They have a line outside the store, one for the elderly and then a line for everyone else. The lines move very quick in general, they also offer sanitizer and or gloves if you prefer one or the other. They also have masks on the side if you forget to bring one, they spray each and every cart and basket down for the customers as well as the mini baskets for the kids! The store has been really well stocked every time I go and clean as well. They have helpful lines on the ground that are measured out to maintain social distance for people in the store. The checkout counter move very quick and they sanitize after each customer wiping down all high touch areas around the checkout area which I greatly appreciate. Overall I greatly appreciate Trader Joe's and what they do for our safety and theirs as well, no other store has these kind of practices that I've been to. read more

I may not really be a redneck, nor am I that simple, but Trader Joe's does have me mad down to the core. For years I have heard my friends profess their love of this store chain. When this location opened a few days ago there was much fanfare, and even a piece on the New Orleans news stations. Since I was in Baton Rouge, I decided to see what the hype was about. When I pulled into the parking lot I noticed a plethora of small cars and hybrids. I wondered aloud whether my truck would even be allowed to park amongst this sea of green vehicles. Luckily no one stopped me, so I parked and headed in. I was somewhat shocked when I entered the store. I guess I was expecting a large store along the lines of a Rouse's, but it was much smaller. Surely what they lacked in square footage would be made up by the great merchandise right? Unfortunately that was not the case. Sure the store did have everything that makes TJ famous. There was the two buck chuck (now $2.99), the TJ branded everything, and a pretty good craft beer selection. They even had several craft beers from local Louisiana brewers. What was seriously lacking was local seafood options. Considering that Louisiana seafood is quite possible the best seafood in the nation, I was very surprised to learn the shrimp for sale here were from Thailand. If that weren't bad enough; the salmon was from Vietnam. In fact, I looked at several different varieties of seafood, all of which should have come from the USA, but none of them were. They were all imported from somewhere. I realize a lot of people like this store, but I will keep it simple and shop elsewhere. read more

When my husband and I were in St. Louis in October our nephew had some delicious olive oil that he purchased from Trader Joe's. We had never been to one, so we made a point to try it out. What a great place, but I didn't have a cooler with us. So we made a trip to the one in Baton Rouge,La. We live in Ms. so it was only a 3 hour trip. I brought my cooler with us, and filled it up with so many great food. The prices were perfect, just the same as St. Louis. I really appreciated that, no surprises. I even found Roquefort. COVID19-Present. Trader Joe's is by far one of my favorite grocery stores to shop at and they have really stepped up their efforts in an attempt to cease the spread of the Coronavirus. The employees have been upbeat, enthusiastic, consciously cautious, and friendly with exemplary character! The business has established a new maximum capacity to allow the customers and employees an optimal amount (6 feet or more) of social distancing during a social altering time. There has been an employee outside the front doors to assist customers with sanitizing their hands and shopping cart handles prior to entering. I believe with the resources that TJ has they are doing their best to servicing the public and limiting the danger to their employees during this pandemic that has hit Louisiana extremely hard. Love Trader Joe's and I really wish there was one on the other side of Baton Rouge! Favorite things to buy here: chicken dumplings, birthday/wedding/anniversary cards, ginger beer, blueberry waffles, and vegetable biryani. Their cards are really great and only 99 cents! I'll never purchase an expensive card ever again. Their ginger beer options are really the best ones you can find in Baton Rouge. Only Costco has a ginger beer that is close to TJ's in taste. Overall, their frozen food selection is one of the best you'll find at a grocery store. My wife eats either chicken dumplings or blueberry waffles almost every morning. We have tried lots of the Trader Joe's frozen food options but our favorite dinner option is the vegetable biryani. The staff is super friendly and helpful and the lines are usually not too long. Love! Love! Love! Trader Joe's really sets the bar for customer service. I drive 40 minutes to go to Trader Joe's. The food items are awesome and inexpensive but the service is better. The staff is always eager to help. My son wanted sardines and had never tasted them. One of the staff members opened a can and fixed sardines three different ways for my son to try. I thought that was above and beyond service. Also, if you get home and do not like an item they will let you return it. Quick tip! Bring your reusable bags instead of using their paper bags at checkout and get a ticket to go into a drawing. I love the amazing assortment of flowers and plants. You can find nice little gifts for different holidays as well. The card selection is inexpensive and cute. So many perks to this awesome store. I wish they would open one in my area! read more

I've been shopping here since this location opened and I have always had great experiences. The customer service is outstanding and you cannot beat their prices! I typically go to Trader Joe's 1-2 times/week. Once for meal prep on Sunday afternoon and then once for anything I may need during the week. The fresh cut flower selection is always on point and they are so affordable! It's rare to find my house without a fresh bouquet on the table. I always keep my eyes peeled for the peonies in late spring/early summer. Gorgeous!! Wine. Wine. More Wine. The selection isn't as large as a liquor store or wine cellar, but they've definitely got enough to satisfy the pallet of anyone looking for a good bottle. I keep my wine cooler and rack fully stocked thanks to Trader Joe's. Cheese. So much cheese. I pick out one cheese a week to snack on and their selection is bomb. My personal favorites are the Double Cream Gouda and the blueberry goat cheese. Served with summer sausage and a water cracker, you're all set. It's TJ's, how can you not give them a 5, where's the 6 button actually. I've been patronizing TJ's where I grew up in Md, then when I moved to LA, they're everywhere including the original location that my niece used to work at. The address on the box says "Monrovia, CA" which is a great little town. When my wife and I moved here in 2012 there was no TJ's and there was a rumor started by a TV anchor I think that there was a possibility we might see one one day, then it happened and there was much rejoicing. Yay! The thing I love about TJ's is you can go and spend as little as you want for what you need, or splurge and go all out and still have be under budget for the week. Not everything is a hit, but more things are a hit than a miss here. The place is bustling with people shopping, and employees constantly stocking shelves. It's a great shopping experience overall. You walk in and go through your fruits, and veggies and breads, they have a great selection of spelt flour and even vegan options. A great little bulk section and cereals, I could go on, but if you've never been here, treat yourself and go, just walk through the store and there's a shelf for all the essentials that you need without all the extra variety you don't need. The store seems small but they pack a lot into this little space. The cheap wine is nothing to scoff at, I call it 2 buck chuck, but I think it's $3 or $4 now. Still great if you're on the way to a tail gate or a friends house for dinner. Grab a bottle and some cheese and a bag of earth chips and hummus and away you go. It's almost all their own brands, but don't let that fool you. At X-mas time that have some really great German and Dutch cookies and cakes that will make you want to splurge. Even their own brand of Scottish Whiskey isn't half bad. Even the parking lot isn't that bad. It's getting out of the shopping center that's a pain, but that's not TJ's fault.
