Everytime I've been there and go to check out, no one's at the register. Always have to go find someone.

This location was historically an open-air market, but was completely renovated with overhead doors that can be closed in inclement weather. They have more space, and more pleasant shopping conditions (especially during summer). Southside Produce isn't a farmers market, but they do sell local produce whenever available. When I was in today, they were showcasing local cauliflower, but also had some beautiful fresh Brussel Sprouts from a farm in California. Their fresh produce is always fresh and high quality regardless of its source. Another amazing area they have is the extensive frozen produce aisle. These include virtually every type of frozen vegetable and fruit. I also noted a selection of local meat products in the coolers, these included quite the selection of sausages! In the preserved products, Southside also has you covered. They have their own brand of pickled, jellied, and preserved foods of all sorts. They also sell other name brands. They have syrups and oils, and other similar products. This is an area that's expanded over the years, and is now quite extensive. Then there are the other products that one can find there. These include things like a significant selection of dried beans and rice, local bread products from a number of bakeries, and cypress furniture. In the right season, you can buy fruit trees to plant in your yard or garden. In all seasons, I recommend Southside as a great place to buy healthy and interesting houseplants. I am always amazed by their selection. Service is always great as well. Normally, one need only take their selections to the counter in the center to be rung up. Their registers accept all modern forms of payment including tap to pay (min $4 on credit cards though). If you need any other help, they will be glad to provide it. Everyone seems cheerful and pleasant. I've been going to Southside Produce for decades now. I felt it was overdue to write a review. It's one of those great Baton Rouge places that you need to visit on a regular basis. I stop by often when I'm in the area.

The time has come for me to update my review of the Red Stick Farmers Market! I can honestly say it…read moreis one of the greatest things about Baton Rouge. It allows residents and visitors to buy fresh locally grown produce and more from small businesses in our community. There are all sorts of vegetables, fungi, and fruits (in season) but that's only the start. One can buy meats and seafood at the Market, as well as dairy products. Then there are the plant vendors, who sell everything from houseplants to garden plants. Then there are the craftspeople who sell things ranging from soap, to canned goods, to baked goods. There's the food vendors as well, in the Main Street Market (which is open weekdays and Saturdays), and at the market tables. There's often live music performed by local artists. There's events for the kids, and adults as well, with themed weekends all summer. Things that emphasize the local produce availing in that time. These can include cooking demonstrations and activities for all ages. There's plenty of free parking in the Galvez Garage, and in inclement weather the market moves inside on the first floor of the Garage so it goes on rain or shine. Going to the Farmers Market is an important weekly event for many people, including me. Give it a try, and you can come to enjoy it as well.

The day featured live music from John Gray Jazz, live cooking demonstrations, free tastings, a cash bar, art from a wonderful group of local artists and lots of fresh items from local farmers. Veggies, plants, meat, fish, cheese and so much more were there to purchase. We bought an art piece from a local artist and enjoyed chatting with him about his background and interest in teaching young and old students interested in art.

The store itself is easy to access, right next to the new Amazon center. The parking lot is big and spacious, so you're not right on top of each other. Aldi requires your "rent" a cart for 25 cents, but here's a tip from the staff - if you forget one, staff members are supposed to have quarters with them at all times. The layout of this location is probably the best I have seen of the stores I have been to. When you walk in, you are in the produce area. Don't pass by the first items on the left as they're usually easy to prep meat dishes. There are both on and off label brands throughout the store. Not all items are a better deal than the big box stores, so if you're budgeting or looking for the best deal, be sure to check the prices. Also, Aldi is on Ibotta, so you can get cash back on items there. If you stick to your list or go only for the items you need for meals and snacks, Aldi is definitely a great budget option. I have several friends who said Aldi is a lifesaver for the summer because snacks are more affordable here. As I learn how to find he best deals, I'm sure my Aldi skills will improve. There's also the Aldi Finds aisle which has seasonal items, as well as other things ranging from PJs to shoes to animal grooming items and beds to so many other things. It's fun to look at, but I try to resist the impulse! Bring your own bags because you are charged for getting any there, including the paper bags if you forget. This location has helpful staff who jumped in when the self-checkout line grew too long. I certainly will keep Aldi on my rotation for groceries.

I did try using regular carts, It was not wise & painful walking and pushing the cart. The Mobile cart was not available anymore, I contacted Corporate by email, I was informed the service was no longer an option. Online ordering is not an option for me, I like to go into the store, and shop.

The carne asada taco was okay, too many onions for me, but still quite tasty. Some would probably be intimidated to eat here because it is a run-down food truck located next to a gas station near the Home Depot of Coursey & Cedarcrest. The service was friendly and fast. Eating there is not really recommended because there are just folding chairs, no tables. I would say the food was pretty authentic and I plan on going back, especially for those yummy pupusas. This might not be your first choice, but at least make it a choice; step out of your box and try something new!

Everyone has heard about my deep rooted love and obsession for tacos and food stands, so I wanted everyone else in Baton Rouge to find out about this gem of a shady but delicious food truck! The meat is charred crispy to perfection, without being dry. The doubled-up HANDMADE a corn tortillas are definitely the best tortillas I have ever tasted. (Hmm, wonder if I can get a whole pack to go?!) The pupusas are delicious too, and come topped with a pickled cabbage. My friend did order the pork tacos, thinking it was carnitas, but it was actually chicharrones (pork rind) and we didn't like that one so much. I TOLD her to let me order for her in Spanish, but she insisted on the pork before I had the chance to people rly ask WHAT type of pork...... And yes, it's best to order in Spanish. Just say "taco de carne asada" (beef steak) and "taco de pollo" (chicken) and how may and you should be set. I usually order 3. They are small but very filling. I could literally eat these everyday. There are 2-3 chairs to sit out at while waiting for your order, and the wait time is 4-8mins or so depending on how much you order but it's so worth it. They even give salsa to go. Ladies, please wear your wedding rings (or a fake one while you order) because there will most likely have a plethora of men ordering authentic Mexican food, waiting to propose to any unsuspecting lady who just wants to get her foodporn on and immediately dash to the comfort of their own home to indulge in these tasty treats. It is parked at the gas station near the Home Depot on Cedarcrest & Coursey. Coming from bluebonnet (with the CCs coffee house on your left) you will cross over working onto Coursey, and it's the second gas station on the right. If you're in the Home Depot parking lot, the gas station is directly in front of the store.
