About 7 years ago I bought a used Ford escape from them. It was awesome! Lasted 305,000 miles for me then sold it and it's still going! So this time when I needed a car, of course I thought of the trade zone to purchase a used car. Well, to my surprise, a lot has changed in 7 years there and not for the best! Let's start with the lot. Test drove 3 cars...each one had its own problems. One had front end issues as it veered dramatically to the left..another had weak power upon acceleration...and the third felt really nice to drive..so I chose the third a 2006 honda accord. Before I chose that car, I wanted to test drive a 2014 escape but the bottom of the inside drivers door was completely rusted to a crumble. Like if u breathed on it it might crumble off. Zack the salesman said, rust like that is common in this area..what!?? I was born and raised in that part of nj for 40 years, rust like that doesn't happen in our area..it happens in flood cars and down the shore due to salt in the air..I found that response odd..but attributed it to sales tactics. I let it slide and didn't choose that car. So I purchase the honda. Drove out of the dealership and 10 minutes into my drive home to get 500$ more for the deposit to bring back to the dealership the check engine light comes on.i used my basic code reader and it pulled a p0325 code..knock sensor. I went on a mechanic website and it explained that a knock sensor is a serious part of making the engine run right. If the knock sensor is bad and u keep driving on it u can destroy the pistons. Essentially destroying the engine. When I got back to the dealership I told Zack. But when we turned the car on the check engine light was off. This is common on a knock sensor problem. The check engine light will go on and off. But in zacks words, "knock sensors aren't a big problem. It's a minor issue and not serious, you're just being paranoid you shouldn't believe everything u read on the internet." Wow! Facts are facts no matter where I got the information from. And the fact is, the car had a knock sensor issue and it is serious. So I drive the car back the next morning to have Zacks mechanic look at it..of course his mechanic was out that day...and at that time the check engine light went off..so Zack tells me, " there's nothing anyone can do if the check engine light isn't on." Another crap answer...codes are stored Zack, even if they've been deleted! But you know that, you just thought that I was a stupid woman who knew nothing about cars. So monday morning I call to see if Zacks mechanic was back, he said yeah, drop it off. I said, I can't drop it off as I have no way to get home and I live in Pennsylvania. He said well, that's the best I can do. I asked can't I just sit there while the mechanic fixes it..Zack says no, cuz he might need to order parts. I asked don't u have a parts delivery service? Zack says condescendingly, " no, it doesn't work that way sweetheart!" Uhhhh! Yeah it does Zack! Padik and Napa have people that deliver parts to mechanics all day long! After all of his B.S. answers, I decided it was best for my safety to take the car to my mechanic. I didn't feel comfortable having this place touch this car at this point..upon taking it to my mechanic, I learned it not only had a knock sensor problem (which the code was deleted but stored) it had a broken Manifold hose, bad spark plugs, a drop of brown sludge of transmission fluid, and 2 holes in the exhaust pipe. About the holes in the exhaust pipe...there's no way that this car passed emissions yet it has a brand new inspection sticker! Hmmmm...Zack, that's against the law!!! Look up 39:10-26 etc seq. When selling a used vehicle registered in nj new and used car dealers are required to 1) make sure vehicle can pass emissions inspection.2) perform or pay for any repairs necessary to pass emissions without charge or return the purchase price to the buyer...putting a false inspection sticker on a vehicle that can not pass inspection is against the law Zack!! and I will be pursuing this with njdmv. Zack, about 3 times during this purchase you said, " I don't have a crystal ball." When I asked u if there was anything majorly wrong with the car...we'll, Zack u don't need a crystal ball if you actually had a competent mechanic that thoroughly checked the cars before slapping a price tag and a false inspection sticker on them! Is it that hard to check the basics? Fluids batteries spark plugs emissions and codes??? Is it really that hard to make sure all the cars you're selling r safe to drive off the lot? As far as integrity...u have none! As far as customer service, u r condescending and arrogant. As far as car knowledge u have none. But u definitely get the award for being the slimmiest dealership I've ever dealt with! read more
