Next day, nice welcome, down to the eye testing room with all those contraptions, lights, silly glasses that have interchangeable lenses and the vinyl covered squeaky chair. After being grilled on what colour lights I could see more clearly, whether one lollypop stick lens gave me better sight than the other, I came back upstairs to be told my prescription had changed and I needed new glasses - no surprise there. The guy looks at me and says, 'after you came in yesterday and told me you were after new glasses, I was thinking all night about the frames that would look best on you and I think these are the ones'. Well slap my ass and call me a kipper, he was bang on! I tried about 5 other pairs just to make it look like I needed to think about it a bit more, but deep down I knew he had done what no optician had managed to do in the 30 or so years I have been wearing glasses: to get me to decide on the first pair I tried on. I bow down to the spectacle selecting God and sing his praise for his great work.

From the Eye-test on site which was relaxed, thorough and unrushed to help in choosing frames and lenses the staff were brilliant and helpful. They even went as far as providing me with temporary glasses as I was out of spare glasses whilst I wait for the order to arrive. Due to the range they have and the service they provide I'm always happy to recommend!

I tried the chat function on their website, no response. I sent a message on their facebook page, no response. After my second email to customer service they responded by saying "we'll let you know when it's on its way". I emailed back to ask them to specify if I should wait a day, a week or a month but of course nobody bothered to reply. There's no option to cancel the order so I'll have to talk to my credit card company to get my money back. I'm sure they're lovely people in the store but their online customer service is non-existent.

They even helped me no problem when I wanted to order my contacts in the US (they had to send my prescription) rather than through them because it was cheaper. When I broke said expensive frames (that colour was sadly discontinued), they offered to order two pairs of the same frames in different colours so I could try them out. Sure, you can get inexpensive glasses elsewhere, but this is a small, privately owned optometrist that will really take care of your vision... stylishly!

Recently I've upgraded to some new Japanese made lenses which are remarkably crisp and better for reading than my previous lenses. The test equipment is very modern and you can now look at your retina on the Apple display if so inclined. I don't change my glasses very often, but I take the tube here whenever I do or for a routine eye test. Islington is a nice part of town so pop down and have a coffee near the canal next time you visit.

I just want to share my wonderful experience yesterday. I come across this location because I lost…read moremy prescription glasses while visiting Tower of London the day before. I'm visiting from South Florida and I needed a pair really quick because I had to leave for Liverpool in two hours! I google'd online and found that I may be able to get a replacement pair from this location the same day because this is one of Vision Express' larger locations. I walked in and right away was greeted by the optician Bishan and explained to him my situation. I asked if he can create a replacement lens based off the prescription sunglasses I was wearing and he said no, they're not allowed to do that. Fine, I'm actually due for a new eye exam anyway. He said it's £25 for eye exam. No problem. He took me to the exam room and in less than twenty minutes I was done. I had prism in my sunglasses and originally he said they would have to order the lens in. But after finishing my test, he said he may be able to get it done there because the prism wasn't as bad as before. After consulting someone in the lab (I can hear him running up and down the stairs), he returned and said they will do their best. He put the order for the lenses in and moved on to the next patient. After five minutes I started to feel restless because I must leave soon to catch the train to Liverpool in Euston. We approached manager Dipak and pleaded that he would help rush the order. He also ran downstairs to the lab and returned ten minutes later with my new glasses! Tried it on and everything is in good working order too. I can't be anymore pleased with the customer service here. They understand your situation and did all in their power to meet your demand and boy they did. My friend who lives locally said she would return to get her optical needs there and would recommend this location to her friends as well. Everyone at this location were so helpful and friendly throughout the entire visit, from Bishan to Dipak to the lady who rang my order (sorry I didn't get her name).
