From the Eye-test on site which was relaxed, thorough and unrushed to help in choosing frames and lenses the staff were brilliant and helpful. Due to the range they have and the service they provide I'm always happy to recommend!

I tried the chat function on their website, no response. I sent a message on their facebook page, no response. I emailed back to ask them to specify if I should wait a day, a week or a month but of course nobody bothered to reply. There's no option to cancel the order so I'll have to talk to my credit card company to get my money back. I'm sure they're lovely people in the store but their online customer service is non-existent.

Previous visits to opticians' had been a bit traumatic and I never felt I could trust their measurements, or my own judgement. I walked past this shops so many times I forgot it was here and was drawn in by the promise of a discount. The lovely Indian couple who run the shop were extremely understanding and helpful - I kept returning with various friends before I finally settled on a style of frame and booked my appointment (I am sure you are supposed to have your prescription ready when you start looking for glasses ). I was extremely impressed that they remembered my name and very embarrassed that I don't remember theirs. I felt in good hands and pleased that I wasn't rushed through the examination. I now own a beautiful pair of glasses which I actually enjoy wearing. A rare fiend of a place where you still received good old-fashioned and very personal service. Highly recommended

Being with Boots, though, I trust the brand. Most recently, I have had issues with older glasses (that I had bought elsewhere) with the screws coming out. When I was in a bind with one of my lenses falling out when I was at work and I needed the screw to be put back in, the staff were lifesavers to get me a new screw and put it back in for me! I really appreciated them being there for me when I needed them.

This store is Vision Express' flagship store in the UK, this is interesting to see them located here with most flagship stores on Oxford Street, being on the west end of the street or Regent Street near that. The store is huge and it is over multiple floors, the glasses selection seems to have every brand one would associate or expect to find in Vision Express, they also didn't have glass cages which some stores have which must be unlocked by staff which shows trust and allows you to try the glasses on without having to ask a member of staff and feel awkward, the store does have security though, probably a more expensive approach but one I do like. The staff in the store didn't seem too helpful, they smiled and that was pretty much it. They had a nice selection of glasses, but again they could have sold more from certain brands, they seemed to have a wide selection of brands rather than selection within those brands. I struggled with deciding a rating for this branch, especially between three and four stars, but this is one of the better branches in the Vision Express network which I find to be a superior optician compared to the rest, especially Specsavers who is the biggest in the UK. 4* - It should work on improving selection within the broad brands they have, and ensuring consistent is consistent with staff seeming more helpful and approachable.

Next day, nice welcome, down to the eye testing room with all those contraptions, lights, silly glasses that have interchangeable lenses and the vinyl covered squeaky chair. After being grilled on what colour lights I could see more clearly, whether one lollypop stick lens gave me better sight than the other, I came back upstairs to be told my prescription had changed and I needed new glasses - no surprise there. The guy looks at me and says, 'after you came in yesterday and told me you were after new glasses, I was thinking all night about the frames that would look best on you and I think these are the ones'. Well slap my ass and call me a kipper, he was bang on! I tried about 5 other pairs just to make it look like I needed to think about it a bit more, but deep down I knew he had done what no optician had managed to do in the 30 or so years I have been wearing glasses: to get me to decide on the first pair I tried on. I bow down to the spectacle selecting God and sing his praise for his great work.
